Andy and Nicola were wonderful hosts, great fun to chat to, very helpful. Our room was Room 1, very large with a sitting area, table, and even a chaise longue. Bathroom had both bath and separate shower. Breakfast was great, cooked to order. We had lunch on the day we arrived, just a couple of tapas dishes but they were excellent and very good value. We were at organised events all week so didn't get chance for other meals, but did get a few drinks and the bar staff were friendly. The location right by the water is amazing, with an outside garden area with great views of the river and the boats. There is no on-site parking because of the historical location but the council car park is very close.

My room was very cosy with a good sized bed, almost double size when I booked a single. I like the vintage furniture. The location was brilliant, right off the ferry port. The staff was super friendly, and welcoming. They saw I was a solo traveler so made sure I was okay at all times. They aloud dogs inside so was lovely to see the dogs. The room was clean, tidy and cosy. A really nice view from the beer garden and close to all the shops and places to eat.

The breakfast was a bit underwhelming. For £12.50 I would personally expect more, 2 sausage and bacon was great but 1 of everything else. You do get the extras on the side, fruit,yogurt ect but was expecting a little bit more,like extra toast,hash brown,ect. And I was looking forward to trying the roast dinner or something else off the menu, but when I went to the restaurant, they told me there wasn’t a lot of food left so didn’t bother ordering anything. As much as I liked the room, it was BOILING hot, I had sweat dripping from my face unless i was directly in front of the fan they thankfully provided. The bedroom window was unable to be opened due to the safety with I understand but something must be able to be done cus it was so hot in here.

Almost everything. The staff Nicola Andy and Niki were so hands on. There was nothing they would not do for you during our five night stay. The bar staff too many to mention where all so friendly and welcoming. The house keepers also to many to mention where very friendly and helpful. One lovely girl offered to bring our case down the stairs for us. Thank you all x

Unfortunately it’s an old building and no lift which we found a disadvantage. The menu was very good with a lot of choices. It’s a pity they don’t do sandwiches like toasties or peanies as they are in a prime location next to redjet ferry with a beautiful bear garden.

Great location in town close to shops etc and Red Jet terminal but easy to get to walk by the sea. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing - beautifully presented with an array of food - hot options, cereals, pastries, fruit etc. Dinner in the restaurant was also very good. Cosy room suited character of the old building and totally unexpected chandelier bedside lights! (No views from this room but was out most of the time so not necessary.)

Some things eg furniture, carpet were a bit 'tired' but apparently redecoration is planned.

Great central location. The staff were excellent - friendly and extremely helpful - with a special shout-out to Nicky, the server in the dining room, and Nicola the manager who changed my room for me as I was struggling with the stairs up to the second floor. The restaurant food was really good (breakfast was yummy) with special attention to anyone with allergies or special dietary requirements. I am dairy intolerant so brought along my own carton of Oat milk which they were happy to store in the fridge.

It's a very old building with lots of stairs (there are 3 floors of rooms) so if you struggle with stairs as I do, then I suggest you make special mention of that when booking.

Although the hotel could benefit from a coat of paint that didn't affect our stay. The hotel is very good and in an excellent location. The staff were all amazing,very friendly and helpful. We loved Vicky at breakfast who was always welcoming and asked about our day and nothing was too much trouble.Breakfast was really nice with a good continental selection and full english if you prefer.We also ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was lovely,reasonably priced and a good selection. Our room was located on the top floor, which kept my elderly mum active during our stay,up and down the stairs 3 times a day!.and we earned a good night's sleep in a comfy bed. The room was very clean and spacious. Overall, it was a really lovely place to stay, and the staff made it all the more worthwhile. Would recommend and will definitely stay again.

We chose the property because of its proximity to both our transport to the Isle of Wight and to the venue at which our event was taking place and because I had used their bar area in the past and knew the food, drink and service were EXCELLENT. The cleaner was already very speedily and quietly cleaning glass & brass door handles when we came down for a relaxed but good Breakfast around 9:30 on the Sunday so we know cleaning is a high standard.

Because it is right on the High Street it is prone to noisy, drunk people from venues in both directions, walking past after closing time and being a noise nuisance however thanks to modern improved earplugs, you can completely blank this out anyway. The high usage area doors ( into kitchen and out into outside area ) could do with a special coating to protect the paintwork and make them easier to clean as they may well be not permitted to replace them with something more modern and hygienic due to the age of the building. Paintwork is very worn on those doors due to how busy and popular they are.

The accommodation is in a great location not far from the beach and in the centre of the shopping area with lots of cafes and bars although we ate at the pub for our evening meal. Food was lovely, the breakfast was really nice and a good selection of Continental and cooked, all served with a smile.. The room was clean and had everything we needed and when we asked for more milk they happily supplied it to us. We only stayed 1 night as we were walking the coastal path but we would definitely stay again if we were on the island again.

This is not a negative for us but more a note in case you have accessibility issues. There is no lift and quite a few floors, we were on the second floor, this was not an issue for us but could be for some people

The location is fantastic. If you go out the back door the Red Jet ferry terminal is literally across the road, if you go out the front door you are on the main street. The hotel itself is lovely, bedding and towels are spotless and changed regularly. The choice for breakfast was unbelievable... Pastries, cereals, fresh fruit, etc and a great selection of cooked breakfasts. The best thing about this hotel has to be the staff. Andy and his team are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. If I return to Cowes, I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

I stayed with 2 friend. It was our first time at the IOW festival. We will definitely be back in the future. After working in hospitality for over 20 years, my friends and I, are very particular and pay attention to details when staying in hotels. Greene King Inns is not 5 star venue in central London (where we work) but it exceeded our expectations. It had a great traditional British Inn style atmosphere. Location of the hotel is perfect, right on the harbour and steps from the Red Jet, water taxi in the middle of the city centre. Breakfast was a pleasantly surprise. The hot food was fabulous, fresh and great quality. Continental part of the breakfast was good too but in the future could add option for people with dietary requirements. Hotel rooms are a little bit outdated and small. However they had everything we needed, hairdryer, iron, tea and coffee facilities. Most importantly they were clean & had a good quality bedding & toiletries. What makes this place outstanding is the service! The staff is excellent. We felt very welcomed right after entering the Inn. Receptionist, waiting staff, housekeeping and of course the manager Andy, made our stay very enjoyable! We will definitely be back!
