Review for Hotel Villa Rothsay, Cowes We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel Villa Rosey. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and well-appointed, and the location in Cowes couldn’t be better for exploring the area. Breakfast each morning was generous and delicious a perfect start to the day. But what truly made our trip unforgettable was the host, Maggie. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, offering local tips, genuine conversation, and that rare personal touch you just don’t find everywhere. Maggie’s warmth and hospitality turned a great trip into a special one, and we can’t thank her enough. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be back!

We had our large dog (labradoodle) with us so we sat outside for our breakfast which was no problem….took a few trips to find all things we needed for our table…After that we really enjoyed the fantastic selection of fresh fruit and yogurt…followed by an amazing tasty full cooked breakfast Served by very friendly Young man that was always chatty and genuine. The room was fantastic and we enjoyed the views of the ships and ferries leaving Southampton. Great coffee maker plenty of tea bags and fresh milk available. This is a beautiful family home with an amazing history…it’s a step back in time amazing. Also a dog walking wood descending to the beach was right beside the property. Brilliant

Nothing much..Only thing I would have liked a small fridge at this price

My wife and I were very well looked after by Margaret, the owner. She was friendly, kind and considerate, and seemed to appreciate a chat. The room was excellent, despite the squeaky floorboards. The breakfasts were superb, and the cooked portion produced quickly. Margaret gave us dinner on our first evening, despite not normally providing dinner in the off-season. Altogether, a very pleasant experience, and we would have no hesitation in staying again. Thank you, Margaret!

The radiator and towel rail in the bathroom should have been on. It wasn't. Got round that issue by moving the electric connector heater briefly from the bedroom into the bathroom. It reached from an electric socket in the bedroom.

We were very well taken care of at Villa Rothsay! Excellent host that helped us plot our days and gave great recommendations for things to do and places to eat. The breakfast was both delicious and filling, and we enjoyed dining in the conservatory with the beautiful views over the Solent. The hotel is full of history and character and it's worth taking a moment to enjoy the drawing room and honesty bar to savor an extra slice of old world charm.

Our first time on the IOW. We had a wonderful stay at Villa Rothsay. It's a beautiful Victorian House with wonderful views. Location is excellent. Breakfast was exceptional with such a great choice. While you have breakfast you get to look out watching the sailing boats go by. Just perfect. Margaret and Zac were so friendly and very helpful. There is also a bar with an honesty box if you fancy a drink later on. We would definitely recommend and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Thank you.

There wasn't anything we disliked

Villa Rothsay is totally unique. If you are looking for a standard chain hotel with insipid decor and character- this hotel is NOT for you. It is full of interesting things including an impressive sailing gallery with lots of personal messages for the owner. Everything was very clean. Lots of quirky character

We liked the atmosphere, the staff were friendly and always helpful and gave us plenty of recommendations of where to visit, our room was cleaned and refreshed.

The location is brilliant however, it's on top of a steep hill and no local bars or shops around the area and you have to go to the centre if you need any supplies

Lovely hostess (we endorse all previous reviewers' comments to that effect). Nothing is too much trouble, whether exotic teabags or bottomless knowledge of the island, warmly and freely given. The house is a bit of a labyrinth, but with opulent and spacious reception rooms and bedrooms. Wonderful breakfasts and perfect mix of self-service with table service, the latter attentive but unassuming and not ingratiating. The experience probably isn't for those who expect ultra-modern minimalist surroundings, but everything works perfectly and is lovingly maintained. Buy into the experience and you'll love it. One of a kind!

Nothing not to like!

All aspects outstanding - the history and furnishings were fabulous, the rooms and views over The Solent superb, the welcome warm and hospitable, breakfast choices and quality excellent. There is easy car parking, 1gbt wifi, an honesty bar and terrace for summer morning breakfasts. Maggie did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable, including offering to dry wet clothes and golf gear for our group of seven - can't thank her highly enough.

Nothing - outstanding job.

Loved the North facing balcony as we were there in heatwave. Great view of the sea, and you could see sunrise and sunset from the same spot. Short walk down the zigzag path to get to the beach or along the road to Northwood House. Zac was very accommodating setting a breakfast table in the lounge so we could bring the poodle.
