A great small hotel in a delightful village in the beautiful Peaks. The staff were all very helpful professional and friendly. Food is excellent I’ve never had so many options on a menu for Gluten Free thank you so much appreciated. Food all beautifully presented and a great variety and a bonus of all being locally sourced. The bar area is really lovely decor very tasteful a cosy welcoming atmosphere. Our suite was splendid very comfy bed pillows could be improved on. The only downside is the road noise so not a good nights sleep enjoyed.

A comfortable and relaxing hotel with efficient staff. The inside of the building has been thoroughly modernised and is warm and clean. I particularly liked the size of the room and the provision of ample drawer and wardrobe space. The two of us had two dinners in the hotel restaurant, one with our vegetarian grandson. All five meals were excellent. There is a wide choice of breakfasts. If you are booked for B&B, you can have any breakfast on the menu.

Two minor points: Beware of condensation on the windows pooling on the sill below. There are warning signs, and it is to be expected in a building as old as The George. Breakfast was good but the bacon was cooked a rather variable amount; sometimes it was a bit 'leathery'.

1. The room was larger than I had expected. (I booked a single room). Although the room faced the street, I had no problems sleeping even with the window open. 2. A good breakfast menu offering a choice of dishes, using high quality ingredients. 3. A beer garden - the possibility to sit outside.

Minor quibbles: The room was very warm on the first evening, however a ventilator was provided. The waiter/kitchen staff forgot our order for dinner one evening. However, the waiter offered us a drink on the house as compensation. The matter was dealt with in a professional manner. I personally prefer a shower cabin over a bathtub with shower unit - not a problem, though

Loved the location, the fact that it was so near to the station and a great base for walks. The hotel itself was great - lovely feel to it and decor. The staff were all very kind and friendly.

The kitchen fan/generator noise is excessive and noises outside our room, slamming of dustbin lids very early in the morning and a lot of outside noise, slamming of car doors and people talking and moving trolleys/metal poles at 3am. Breakfast was delicious but seemed a bit slow on our last day, perhaps due to short staffing? Although our room was very clean I was a bit surprised that my wet towel was rolled up when I'd hung it on the bathroom door to dry! Also, we reported the leaking coffee machine on our first day, but it wasn't fixed during our stay, and we had to soak up the leaking water all the time.

Staff were excellent. In fact, a special mention to staff - I don't think I have ever had all such kind friendly people in a pub/hotel before! Wine was excellent. Some food was excellent; some just good. Breakfast was not as good as it could have been. Room was very comfortable but not big. Very clean.

An expensive fillet steak was very chewy. Breakfast was just ok - with an odd thing of putting poached eggs on unbuttered toast with butter on the side - so I had to take the eggs off, butter the toast and put the eggs back on! Weird! They were also underdone with runny whites. The usual leaky teapot etc. Very expensive stay.

We had dinner and breakfast..both were excellent, plenty of choice, freshly cooked and all served with a friendly smile. Although the restaurant was very busy, it was a pleasant and restful room with tables well spaced for privacy. There is a very nice sheltered outdoor patio set up for dining when the weather allows, which unfortunately was not the case while we were there. The bedroom was small but comfortable and the bathroom was well equipped with toiletries and superb quality towels. The hotel itself is very old and quite quaint, but well maintained and located in beautiful countryside with lots of walking/hiking trails.

Staff on a evening wasn't good , asked for a table but hadn't booked, young lad told us to wait and never returned so stood waiting , asked someone else who took us to the bar not a problem but didn't come to take order so had to find someone again, order took waited along time for drinks , food arrived with no cutlery asked for some, same young man at before said will get , didn't come back , we sat waiting n saw him walk by with plates of food for other people , again had to get up and find another member while food getting cold , little details but not great service

We came to the George for my husbands birthday for one night and really enjoyed it. The hotel and staff are amazing and the room had a huge comfy bed with lovely white company soaps and shampoo, coffee machine, water and the staff had left some chocolates and a note for my husband which i thought was a lovely touch. We did have a room at the front of the hotel which was really noisy from the road traffic, which if i had know would of asked for a room at the back as i am a really light sleeper.The breakfast service was really slow and we waited 45 minutes but when it arrived the produce was really good and the staff were really friendly. I would highly recommend the hotel but would suggest maybe putting earplugs in the bedroom and more staff at beskfast😉.

We were put in a room which was quite noisy but was moved the next day to a more quieter room. The room was very clean and well maintained. The room was refreshed each day, Loved the fact you could log into Netflix and other apps on the tv. Breakfast was very nice. We only ate in the restaurant for dinner on the one night as the menu wasn't really to our taste.

Even though we arrived on the Sunday and booked the restaurant days prior we were not told that you had to "reserve" the Sunday roast. We were only told when we went to order. This was disappointing as both my partner and I would have liked the roast. We would have thought that guests staying at the hotel and booked the restaurant prior to arrival would have automatically been on the "roast" list.

Friendly staff, excellent food, clean and well presented, especially the bar/social area, parking accessible, central location. Domestic staff put on fan, opened window, put radio on to create a more inviting and comfortable space. High quality complimentary tea/coffee and toiletries.

Bedroom faced the staff car park, noisy both early morning and late at night. Very small window so little natural light and our view consisted of staff cars and bins. Exiting car park had limited visibility. Main road noisy at times.
