Breakfast has two choices of venue and style - good spread for the buffet and substantial for the Japanese set. Onsen is quite nice. Parking is covered. Hotel staff greeted us nicely everyday whenever we passed by lobby and they remember us at breakfast. Hotel is within walking distance of the main train station, a flat walk and partially covered so it is good for rolling luggage and ok when there is snow. Not too far from canal and cafés. Microwave available.

Some things on my wish list would be: natto and sunnyside up eggs at breakfast. A room with chairs and tables for consuming take out food. A lock for the ski room. More solid pillows.

Parking is limited. Hotel charged ¥1,500/day. Was directed nearby to park overnight as parking at hotel was full n i had to pay ¥1,100 the following morning. Parking for my 1st day was waved off as I paid parking elsewhere. Only paid a day on checkout. My vehicle had all warning light illuminated even while driving. I asked reception staffs to help me contact my rental car help center. Hotel staffs was indeed exceptionally helpful to eventually get the rental office to change my vehicle. The whole process took 3 hours. Thank you again to the helpful staffs at Authent Hotel ,Otaru.

Canal cruise was long queue. Shops n dinning close much too early.🥵

Clean, comfortable, warm during winter, friendly service without any hassle during check-in or check-out. Conveniently located along the covered walking street, and also near enough to the main attractions. Washing machine and dryer are well-maintained and reasonably priced. Various food options nearby, and also a little traditional Japanese snacks shop just round the corner.

It was a little bit difficult to find as a first-timer. Not knowing that there was a covered walking street, we ended up hauling our luggage through the ice and snow to get there. We also did not like the heavy revolving door but that kept the cold out.

Though it's not very near to the train station, it was just a 5 min walk through the shopping street to reach the hotel. There is a nice bakery at the hotel and a convenient store just across the street. You can walk to the Otaru Canal from the hotel (not more than 20 min, I think). Staff are friendly. There is a shop in the shopping street that sells all the craft materials and I really love the shop!

Hotel is a bit old but it has the rustic feeling. The revolving door! It's so hard to push...

The location was perfect - a few hundred metres walk from the train station, and the bakery on the ground floor sold the most heavenly food. The room was spotlessly clean and really comfortable, with everything you could think of included for the stay. We found ourselves wondering why the hotel didn't have more stars, and suspect it's because the facilities are a little older (eg keys not keycards to get into rooms, that kind of thing), but it was such a lovely hotel, and we'll definitely be back. The spa facilities were also great, we all left feeling like we'd discovered a hidden gem. We didn't order room service but the menu was comprehensive, and everything was both in English and Japanese. The staff were attentive and friendly, and it was one of the quickest check in and check out experiences we've had anywhere in Japan.

The only small disappointment was the restaurant downstairs was closed when we wanted to have a quick coffee before checking out the next morning. Everything else was great.

The hotel was located 550 meters from Otaru Train Station. There were convenience stores and restaurants nearby. The Otaru Canal within walking distance from the hotel. There was an onsen available at the hotel, which could be shared use with other guests.

The window could not be opened for fresh air. Fully depend on air conditioning

It was clean well run and in a good location. It was not a bad price though pricier than our previous hotel in the same town which had bigger more comfortable rooms at a cheaper price. The bar was lovely, we never tried the restuarants

Smaller than expected room. The bathroom needed better ventilation and smelled a bit odd.

Convenient location close to the railway station in the centre of Otaru. Easy walking distance to the harbour and canals. Very clean with comfortable bedding.The staff were all professional and friendly.The front office manager,Mr Jongshin was exceptionally helpful and made our stay memorable.We will definitely stay here again.

Great location near train station, clean and bright room and the breakfast buffet on top floor was I excellent with a mix of Japanese and western foods. The highlight was the onsen (bath) with steam room and ‘cool air’ room. I don’t want to leave! Also, staff were extremely helpful throughout our stay.

Outstanding service; classic hotel with lovely lobby and large rooms (ours had lovely view of ocean and Otaru canal area). Great location with parking next door and step out of lobby into walking mall, yet only a few blocks to 'sushi street' and Otaru canal area. Breakfast was expensive, but very good with a vast selection. Highly recommended.

The bar/lounge area on the upper floor of the hotel seems to no longer be operating as a bar (only being used for the breakfast buffet) which is a shame, as it has amazing views and is a lovely venue. Hopefully it will open again in the evenings. currently, the view can be enjoyed at breakfast, at least.
