All of the staff were so kind and friendly, we felt very welcomed during our stay. The woman at reception gave us a big map and drew some recommendations on it for us which was so helpful! And I especially loved their beautiful dog, Cheep, who we gave lots of pats and cuddles! The room was spacious and the whole hotel was spotlessly clean. The 10 euro breakfast each morning was a great way to start the day, with a good selection and great coffee!! The location is very central and an easy walk from all the major sights and water taxi stops.

We loooooved our stay here, but something to be mindful of is the three flights of stairs - if you are checking in late you would need to carry your luggage upstairs. We were okay but it could be difficult for some. During staffed reception hours however, they will kindly handle the stairs and your luggage for you!

This was a great location, within easy reach of the Rialto and St Mark's Square, at a good price. Breakfast was available for €10 per person, which I don't remember seeing advertised, but having a fridge in the room was great, meaning we could get our own supplies and save a bit of money. (There is no cutlery though, not even stirring sticks for your tea/coffee, so bring your own!) As other reviewers have said, the man on the front desk was really friendly and helpful. The hotel is not luxurious, but good value for the money in this very expensive city.

The rooms are up a long, steep flight of stairs (3rd floor), which we were informed of, but after crossing so many bridges with our luggage, they were quite daunting! The room was an odd mix of basic (no cutlery, even for stirring tea, no milk/creamer, no bath plug (though this was supplied when we asked), only one bedside lamp), and well-equipped (fridge, bath, bidet, nice wardrobe). I found the mattress a bit firm (my husband liked it), and the TV struggled to tune to many channels. A good, basic place to explore the city from. Note: the owners have a dog who is usually around during the day. He ran into our room as we were going out one morning. Something to be aware of if dogs bother you.

We stayed here as a family of three and our stay could not have been better. Andrea and Giada (and Chippy the dog!) were the most helpful, thoughtful and accommodating hosts who made sure our every need was seen to. The property is superbly located for exploring and was very comfortable and always so clean. From helpful suggestions of places to eat and drink, to advice on transport, events and even allowing us to relax and recharge long after our check-out time on our last day, we really were treated like family. The breakfast was a great option for us and such great value. A great view of the canal from our window was a fabulous bonus. This place is a perfect home from home for a visit to Venice and we could not recommend it more. Thank you Andrea and Giada for making our stay so great.

Nothing - it was everything we had hoped it would be, and more.

What a beautiful, family-run residence. Andrea was an amazing and gracious host who answered any questions we had. He assisted my wife and I with our luggage up 4 flights of stairs. I know it wasn’t easy, so thanks again Andrea. The residence is very centrally located which was helpful to and from the public transportation as well as the main sights. The room was comfortable and I would definitely stay here again. Also, we enjoyed the church bells throughout the day and at night.

We loved everything about the property and its hosts. If you open the windows in your room, just be mindful of the possibility of mosquitoes getting in. But due to the city built on an island it is kind of a given.

Locanda Ca' Formosa is a perfect stay for Venice. The location is excellent, the apartment is spacious and comfortable, and the customer service is beyond expectations. As a group of 4 college students, we were grateful to have so much space in such a lower cost hotel. The beds were very comfortable and the apartment is equipped with many extra pillows, blankets, and other things that might fit your needs. This made for not just a good place to sleep, but a great place to relax after a long day of exploring as well. The family that owns this apartment is super helpful and kind, and they even come to clean your apartment during your stay. They are very flexible and try to accommodate you to the best of their ability. We love you Chippy! Overall, I would recommend Locanda Ca' Formosa to anyone, and next time I come to Venice I will for sure be staying here!

The only thing that I didn't like was that I didn't know the apartment was in a different space than the hotel. Even so, the apartment was easy to find and very close to the main lobby and hotel area! Additionally, the shower has some issues with draining and the water temp fluctuate. But nothing more than your typical European bathroom!

The family that run the hotel are fantastic people. We completed nearly every recommendation. The location was amazing with only a 4 minute walk to st marks square. Easy to get to by water bus from the train station stopping at Rialto bridge and a 10 minute walk from there. You don’t need tickets, you can just tap on with your credit card or buy a pass valid for length of stay. We went everywhere on the waterbus! We had the breakfast one morning for 10 euro and it was delicious! I highly recommend it! The property was spotless clean.

The room we were in was quite small but it was sufficient and isn’t really a negative as we expect that in Europe especially in the old towns. We also could have booked a family suite for a bit more space. Make sure you order cicchetti and the local special of baccala.

We spent 3 nights at this lovely place and had an amazing experience. The hosts were extremely kind, understanding, and always available to help us. They provided us with a map of Venice, great recommendations for places to visit, and even suggested excellent local restaurants where we could enjoy traditional dishes. The room was very clean and comfortable, making our stay even more enjoyable. We truly appreciated the warm hospitality and would gladly return. Highly recommended!

The only small downside was the number of stairs to climb, which might be a challenge for some guests. However, it didn't affect our overall experience!

Cozy, family-run boutique hotel in a quiet corner just off the lively Santa Maria Formosa square. Central but peaceful. Rooms are romantic, with classic Venetian charm, you'll want to linger in the morning, especially with the scent of fresh pastries and homemade cakes drifting from the dining room next door. The owners are warm and welcoming, happy to share tips for exploring the city. Everything worth seeing is within walking distance, making this gem a great value in a city that steals your breath at every turn.

3-night stay wasn't enough!

When we arrived at the hotel our room was ready already even though we were very early. Jada was so friendly to receive us and gave us lots of insider tips on what to do and see in Venice, getting off the beaten track. All the team were very approachable and nice. We did not have breakfast but it looked nice, we were just too full still from dinner the night before. The location is great, just 8 min walk to Piazza San Marco. Would definitely recommend.

Just a minor issue, the mosquito netting on the smaller windows was broken and let in some during the night.

Staff were amazing, extremely helpful with tourist attractions and gave us excellent recommendations for places to eat. Loved that the place is family run as it seems like they do care about your visit. Room was very nice with an old Venetian style just like the photos and the location was extremely convenient with attractions and good food nearby. Staff were happy to help when I had questions about buying glass and seemed to be very kind in general. Lovely place and will definitely stay there again in future.
