Breakfast was beautifully presented with an individual tray brought with cereals, pastries, juices, fruit, yoghurt, milk and syrup. The cooked breakfasts were excellent, beautiful omelette and salmon and eggs on muffin with a hollandaise sauce. Tea and coffee served at a table looking over the garden. Lovely.

The only negative was that we had booked an early breakfast at 8:30 as we needed to get away to meet others, went down at 8:30 to a locked restaurant in darkness with nobody around. The place typically opens at 9am for passing trade and it was just about that before we were let in. So they need to either open earlier or not offer an early breakfast as it's not readily available.

Set in a beautiful location within the Derbyshire Dales with spectacular scenery and excellent walking routes. Staff were very attentive and breakfast was one of the best we have have had at any accommodation. An independently owned and managed establishment which goes above and beyond what you would get in a faceless chain hotel. We will look to stay there again when we have more time to enjoy the walks and the area.

No evening catering which is a shame as they have a very good menu but you could always eat during the day (kitchen closes at 3pm). Plenty of places to eat nearby in Matlock or as we did get takeaway fish and chips (living in France we miss this treat).

Lovely location and staff. We stayed 1 night in the Sycamore room which is upstairs. We loved the style of decor and the welcome tea tray. It was well appointed and we wished we could've stayed longer! There is a car park accross the road which is a big plus and hassle free; no faffing with tickets or passes etc. The location is on a busy road but I didn't find the rooms suffered from road noise at all. It felt peaceful. The bed was very comfortable with good pillows too. The breakfast was superb and I'd say the best I've ever had at a bed and breakfast. Tip. We ate at the Canal Inn which is about 6 minutes drive away and was excellent. Great food and drink choices. I'd definitely return here and recommend to others

There was nothing to dislike

Breakfast was above and beyond what we expected. We politely declined the cereals but enjoyed freshly baked croissants and then my partner and I both chose the full English. We made a couple of changes each, which the staff were happy to do. The food was the best quality full English we’ve had in quite some time. The room was beautiful and had everything we needed to wind down after a long day, and freshen up in the morning. Staff were super helpful and got us into the room early as we had a wedding.

Nothing. Would 100% go back to stay again.

The room was very nice with lovely fittings & fixtures. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was in full working order with toiletries and fluffy towels. There was an excellent selection of tea/coffees & hot chocolate and biscuits too ! Overall the little touches in the room like Peak District books to read and a bottle of water made our stay complete ! Thankyou

Nothing to dislike . It might be a problem for some guests as the cafe/ restaurant closes at 5pm so you have to make sure you have eaten and if you are going to check in later than 5pm you have to make arrangements for someone to be around.

Beaautifully and tastefully decorated and equipped room. Excellent, substantial and complete breaktfast. Staff very helpful and courteous. Plenty of parking. Delicious food during day.

1.Room is small, and perhaps less suitable for a prolonged stay (eg 1 week or more) but excellent for a few days. 2. Position at a busy road junction with limits visibility when crossing road to car park or emerging from car park. 3. Nightime access (after 5pm) a little awkward, and the automatic lights when we were there were inadequate. 4.No evening meals

I had a fantastic experience at The Family Tree . The bed was incredibly comfortable – one of the best I've ever slept in. The room was beautifully decorated, spotless, and had a calm, cozy atmosphere that made it easy to relax. The shower was powerful and refreshing – just what you need to start or end the day. And the breakfast? Absolutely fabulous! A great variety, beautifully presented, and everything was delicious. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a restful and enjoyable stay.

Very nice lodging and immaculate clean. The bedroom and bathroom were large and comfortable. Room was nicely decorated. I was so happy to know we had a room on the lower level. We had requested a first floor because with my bursitis climbing steps is difficult. Christine and Michael were wonderful host. They made allowances for us to be able to have breakfast a little earlier than their normal schedule and Michael was an excellent chef. They offer free car park across the street from the Inn. We would stay there again.

We were pleased with everything.

Our room was so lovely. We stayed here as our half way point for our next destination. All though this was more affordable It was also the better stay! Its was such a lovely decorated room with a premium taste. We arrived mid evening so stayed in, tucked into the mini bar and watched TV after a bath! The breakfast was lovely which included a tray with pastries and cereal whilst waiting for you cooked breakfast which you could choose gram a large menu. Will definitely be recommending.

On arrival it wasn’t clear where to go but that is all.

The Family Tree is in a beautiful situation. We witness that the owner allows a local ladies' choir to rehearse there for an hour or so on Tuesday evenings, an important and excellent facility for the community. We applaud this. Our bedroom was absolutely fine for our visit and the dining room was excellent. Due to the traffic, we were late to arrive. Our host was fine about this, so all was well.

The ensuite would be difficult to use for people larger than us. As the dining room is very busy, catering for guests, locals and walkers, we noted that breakfast service was good for some that arrived after us. We were slow to be served and did not get as personal service as others were getting, despite our overall friendly nature, so were disappointed.
