The location of the hotel was excellent, very convenient to walk to nearby attractions. The hotel was clean and very well maintained.

Breakfast options didn't include fruits.

The location was lovely - just near the main road so very walkable and only a few minutes in the car to other places such as Darley Dale. The staff were really lovely and very accommodating to our dog which was really kind. The room was gorgeous and the bar atmosphere was nice.

I would appreciate bags for sanitary products in the bathroom moving forward, as I think it is unfair on the cleaners to have to handle these in the bin bags in the bathroom. If there was a bag that these could go in prior to the bin bag that would be nice. I also found that I went to the spa but there were quite a few dead moths on the steam room floor which made the experience less nice. A bit more instruction on the use of the spa would have been helpful as someone who does not really use them. I also found that even though we had access to Amazon Prime there were signal issues in the evening which meant that we were unable to use it without it freezing and pausing.

Having visited before, we knew what to expect. The annex room was spacious, comfortable and gave an excellent view from the balcony over the swimming pool. The dining area is clean and inviting. The staff were super friendly, polite and helpful,

The biggest fault, at time of writing, was that the annex is being re-furnished so building work was underway. The workmen didn't seem to have a grasp of time so carried on working into the evening (Friday). I take exception to having wall being drilled at 9.00PM at night so had to ring reception. The work eventually stopped at 10.00PM! On Saturday the noise was noticeably less and stopped before 5PM when the pool closed, When the Hotel becomes naturally quieter. The breakfast is not included but is available for a reasonable extra cost. There is little provision for disability, which made journeys to the bathroom difficult being up a flight of stairs from the bar. There are no lifts or stair lifts.

The hotel was lovely and close by to everything

The bath needs replacing in our room 59 Enamel coming off and the shower strip was full of green-mould could easily be taken off and cleaned nearly did it myself ! Was a shame as everything else was lovely great views over the pool which unfortunately wasn’t open as being cleaned ☹️do make sure you check before booking if it’s not closed for maintenance as that is why we booked it so was very dissspointed to find out it was closed the 2 days we were there . It does say in very small writing on booking .com but I didn’t see it . So would be good if this came up as a warning beforee you place your booking.

The pool was lovely. We had the view but couldn't go in as we had the children. The location was perfect. A 2 minute walk into Matlock bath. The staff were great. The room was fine for the night. The place is clearly being renovated, so im not going to drag it down. We were there for a night with 2 round children, the facilities in the room were brilliant and they even gave me a jug of soya milk, which was lovely.

We paid extra for breakfast, I think in total, it was £30. It's not too bad for 2 adults and 2 children. The only criticism would be that the cooked breakfast bar looked like it needed some tlc. The food was absolutely fine, just what was needed to start our day!

It was clean staff were friendly and helpfull food was good limited menu Breakfast was good plates could do with plate warmer and a choise of eggs not every one likes scrambled eggs breakfast did have a good choise of continental style also The location was really good only a 5 min walk and there are all pubs shops amusements and you are by the river This hotel has caricter it has a small park at the back and a pritty pool at front with a fountain and fish in the pool also aseated area at the front and a large car park

There were a lot of steps as wasn't a lift but steps were manageable as wasn't too high we were on first floor

We loved how close the hotel is to the town and how friendly all of the staff were (front reception, bar, lifeguards and staff hosting breakfast all were cheerful and made us feel at home). The front lobby was grand, the bar was comfortable and the lido facilities were excellent. The view from the garden balcony was spectacular, with the sound of the pool outside and the view of the trees and cliffs for some reason reminding both of us of childhood holidays in France. It is a truly special place and there was a lovely friendly atmosphere made by the other guests too.

There was quite a lot of chipped plaster on the floor, pots of paint and loose carpets in the hallway and a skip outside so it was obvious refurbishments were underway. The room itself had quite a few spiders and bugs feeling at home on the curtains and skirting boards, which we caught and put outside but hadn’t been noticed when they had prepared the room for us. The sheets were clean but the bed itself had coffee stains down both sides and the bathroom was dated. I didn’t mind these things for the price we paid but as the hotel is described as “boutique” that wasn’t the feel I got from the room.

Exceptional location with excellent facilities. The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped with all those little extras that make your stay a little more comfortable. They provide Dove shampoo, body wash and conditioner (instead of the all-in-one "hair and body wash" so many places seem to have now), Dove hand soap and hand cream at the sink, tissues in the room. The tea and coffee making tray included bottled water and shortbread biscuits and there was a neat cupboard containing an ironing board, iron, electric fan and hairdryer.

A previous occupant seems to have lost a fight with the curtains and blinds in the room I had and I'm guessing the room hasn't been unoccupied long enough to take them down for repair. A bit of tree pruning could make the view even more spectacular.

We booked the hotel to use the amazing pool. It’s 36m, geothermal (heated by a natural spring) and has no chlorine. It’s not hot. But it’s not cold either. We stayed in the annexe as it has a balcony in the rooms, so we can put our bikes on the balcony. The annexe rooms also have two double beds so we brought our son with us. Booking.com wouldn’t let me book it as a 3. I have stayed there before so knew sky the rooms so I contacted the hotel to ask if we could book the room. I was told it was ok to book it as a two and pay for any extra food for the 3rd person when we were there. The staff were very helpful and the food was delicious. But… the pool … we love it.

Hotel is in a good location for Matlock Bath and Cromford. Plenty of parking. Although the dinner menu has limited choice the food was very good and reasonable prices for food and drink. We had a room overlooking the swimming pool which had a balcony. The garden was very nice to sit in and although we didn’t use the pool it looked very good. A good variety of lounges to sit in.

Long wait for dinner on the first night, waiter did apologise. Appeared to be shortage of staff. Much better on second night. Overall the hotel looks a little tired. Although the room was well decorated the corridor and outside needed some updating. The toilet needed repairing, something that should have been picked up by cleaning staff.
