The location of the hotel was excellent, very convenient to walk to nearby attractions. The hotel was clean and very well maintained.

Breakfast options didn't include fruits.

Having visited before, we knew what to expect. The annex room was spacious, comfortable and gave an excellent view from the balcony over the swimming pool. The dining area is clean and inviting. The staff were super friendly, polite and helpful,

The biggest fault, at time of writing, was that the annex is being re-furnished so building work was underway. The workmen didn't seem to have a grasp of time so carried on working into the evening (Friday). I take exception to having wall being drilled at 9.00PM at night so had to ring reception. The work eventually stopped at 10.00PM! On Saturday the noise was noticeably less and stopped before 5PM when the pool closed, When the Hotel becomes naturally quieter. The breakfast is not included but is available for a reasonable extra cost. There is little provision for disability, which made journeys to the bathroom difficult being up a flight of stairs from the bar. There are no lifts or stair lifts.

We booked the hotel to use the amazing pool. It’s 36m, geothermal (heated by a natural spring) and has no chlorine. It’s not hot. But it’s not cold either. We stayed in the annexe as it has a balcony in the rooms, so we can put our bikes on the balcony. The annexe rooms also have two double beds so we brought our son with us. Booking.com wouldn’t let me book it as a 3. I have stayed there before so knew sky the rooms so I contacted the hotel to ask if we could book the room. I was told it was ok to book it as a two and pay for any extra food for the 3rd person when we were there. The staff were very helpful and the food was delicious. But… the pool … we love it.

Hotel is in a good location for Matlock Bath and Cromford. Plenty of parking. Although the dinner menu has limited choice the food was very good and reasonable prices for food and drink. We had a room overlooking the swimming pool which had a balcony. The garden was very nice to sit in and although we didn’t use the pool it looked very good. A good variety of lounges to sit in.

Long wait for dinner on the first night, waiter did apologise. Appeared to be shortage of staff. Much better on second night. Overall the hotel looks a little tired. Although the room was well decorated the corridor and outside needed some updating. The toilet needed repairing, something that should have been picked up by cleaning staff.

Beautiful building full of character which has been modernised and updated. Plenty of space to relax inside and outside, lovely garden areas. Junior suite very spacious and comfortable with complimentary tea/coffee tray and toiletries, all clean and tidy. Breakfast plenty of choice of hot and cold options, self service but staff on hand to assist. Cooked breakfast although in warming trays was good and tasty. Dinner in the restaurant was good, a little pricey but good quality. We didn't use the spa facilities so cannot comment on those, we were just on a quick overnight stay. Staff all courteous and helpful.

It is evident that some areas of the building and furnishings could do with being updated. Although the junior suite was spacious and comfortable, the furniture is old, tired and marked etc. The shower screen in the bathroom was badly stained on the seals etc due to age.

Nice, clean, quiet room overlooking the fresh water lido. Fascinating to see how many people use this facility. This is a family run hotel with a lot of the family working there, they have only recently taken over the hotel and are working incredibly hard to restore it to it's former glory, but there is a lot of work to do, so I applaud all their hard efforts. Very friendly staff, couldn't do enough for us, so helpful and pleasant. Had dinner in the restaurant the night we stayed. Excellent meal and very reasonably priced for a hotel. Breakfast was served buffet style with a good choice of continental and cooked items. Tea was lovely and hot which is always a bonus with breakfast buffets. Beautiful, well kept gardens and quiet seating areas. Lots of history and character to the original grade II listed building.

As I stated, the hotel is a work in progress and has become extremely tired in some of the newer annexe blocks. The rear of these rooms is particularly run down and in need of restoration, but the rooms themselves are quiet and comfortable.

I loved my little stay at Matlock, such a beautiful area and plenty to do or you can relax and have a peaceful time. The hotel is close to everything so I could walk around once I got there and left the car parked in the hotel. I felt very safe even at night on my own. The hotel was cosy, pool is a bonus especially on hot days as outdoor.

My room was fine really, big in size etc but the bathroom was a bit grimy like the bath had an old stain in it so looked as though it wasn’t cleaned properly, the carpet was a bit loose in part of the room where it has seen better days but this did not affect my stay as was only there one night.

Perfect location, ideal for walking into Matlock Bath for dinner and a visit to Heights of Abraham. Nice sized room with a balcony overlooking the pool. We didn't swim as we didn't really have time but the pool looked great and seemed very popular. Breakfast was really good, plenty to eat and variety. For the price we paid, it was really good value. Would stay again if we come back to the area.

Our bathroom was a little rough around the edges; it was clean but there was a fair bit of mould round the bath and ceiling. BUT again, for what we paid, it really wasn't a huge issue and it was clean which is the main thing for me!

The swimming pool continuously replenished via a natural thermal spring is the undoubted highlight of this hotel. All of the public areas are extremely well kept, the bedroom was very comfortable and benefitted from a balcony and view of the pool. The bathroom required a little TLC, but just details rather than anything major. The staff were all very helpful and polite and the buffet breakfast was very nice.

Just a couple of minor defects, the bath panel was damaged and the heated towel rail control broken.

lovely room with fab view+balcony. (altho nearby guests were smoking on their balcony but not all the time) very comfortable +spotlessly clean.

my only problem was the beautiful delightful swimming pool was empty of water+unavailable until the day after I was leaving...which i only found out about after I had booked because there was an extension on the work +cleaning of the pool which changed after I had made my booking....But the staff are going to email me some free passes for the pool as compensation for this mistake...so that is a good kind gesture on their behalf...
