Loved this place. Had the top front bedroom which is basically a generously proportioned apartment with large bedroom a s separate living area, though no kitchen just an electric kettle. Bed was big and comfy with good quality fresh linen. Separate access to accommodation through side door to hotel, no need to enter via bar and restaurant. . Amazing views from every window of the apartment looking over the harbour and out to sea. Great selection of draught ales and ciders in the bar below. Staff were especially nice. Breakfast was good quality, well-cooked and generous.
Food was standard Marston's course; perhaps slightly expensive and somewhat limited if you have special dietary needs - in our case, one vegetarian and one ketogenic. But we still found something different from the menu every night. No parking on-site, but not far to the nearby carpark. 24 hour and 7 day rates available from ONE of the two payment machines in the carpark (the left one only).

Loved be being back at the Penwig, the fabulous lady who looked after the hotel in terms of housekeeping was fabulous.. lovely accommodation and fabulous views. Breakfast was lovely.
Other staff might need a little more guidance on hospitality. Generally ok but could easily improve their service with a smile. Would be good if they could allocate some parking for hotel guests as the car park is for staff and it was empty. However also understand in the height of summer this would help staff.

The room was simple but perfectly adequate. The bed was very comfortable. The carpets and fittings are all nice and new. The bathroom is tiny, but spotless, and the shower was great, though you wouldn't want to be fat! I only ate once in the restaurant, and the meal was much better than the one I paid three times as much for the next day. The location, looking out over New Quay's harbour and beach, was perfect.
Room 1 does not have much of a view, except of roofs and walls, which is probably why it is such a bargain, far cheaper than any local B&B. If I had wanted to spend hours gazing out to sea I'd have requested a room at the front.

On arrival the staff were very friendly, told us breakfast times if required & best to book for evening meal as it gets busy....so we did. The room (No1) was a reasonable size, bathroom was tiny tho, but had a decent shower. The room was comfortable & reasonably warm with just one radiator, king size bed was comfy, we could see the sea from our window, housemaid changed our towels for us. Great location for the Village & for our coastal walk routes we done. The only thing not so good was the evening meal, hard gammon, hard fried eggs, tiny mushroom & a million chips, my wife had a dry chicken burger with 4 shreds of cut up lettuce on ...& a billion chips....ridiculous amount. The breakfast tho was better, but we just felt that (only the cooked food & the orange concentrate juice) they had use the cheapest ingredients for cook8ng your breakfast ....& you can tell.....however the porridge was lovely.

The Hotel was situated well for the Harbour &. All the Staff were friendly, helpful & efficient. The breakfast was enjoyable good quality, well presented & good value. We also had an evening meal for 12 which was as good as the breakfast and as there were 12 of us who all got served their meals hot and together this was appreciated. Our room was small but very comfortable, my only observation I was surprised that there wasn’t a small fridge which I would have liked.
Parking is not easy if you travel by Car

The property overlooks the coast so it's a great location and a very nice view to enjoy whilst having a drink and a nice meal. The room was a good size and very clean. The bed and pillows and duvet was very comfortable and towels were provided and hand wash and shower gel too. Tea coffee facilities are included in the room price and our room was serviced every day. All of the staff were very nice and the pub has a friendly atmosphere. No noise from the bar at night so it's easy to relax in the room and to get to sleep.

Lovely generous family accommodation to the back of the pub over 2 flights. Large bathroom. Could not be more central in New Quay. Lovely comfortable beds.
Slight noise nuisance with a loud extractor van outside the windows. Lights inside for fire exit very bright and impossible to avoid when trying to sleep. Breakfast was chaotic. No continental without asking for individual items ( which wasn't explained) food slightly cold and looked rushed. Dinner the night before was much better.

Perfect location . Breakfasts good . Good sea view room . Room modern and clean but bathroom let it down as dirty .Good that its dog friendly . Lee the barman smiley and friendly as was the barman with ponytail.
Didn't like that you pay for parking when staying at the hotel . It would be good if staying at the property to get the cost of parking back . The room was modern and clean but tge bathroom was very diry . Mould on ceiling above shower , could do with a wipe. Very dirty ceiling extractor fan . Rusty slime on wall soap dispenser. Black smudge on shower skirting board . Thick dust on top of sink light . Very cheap thin toilet roll . The actual pub was nice inside but the white chairs were very dirty and black . Need washing or painting white again .

Great location and friendly, helpful staff. We had the family room which is a good size. It’s across two floors which worked well for us with older kids but might not be so good if you have young children. It was nice to have a drink in the pub and the beds were comfy!
The family room had some noise from the extractor fans and kitchen food smells. It was hot weather so we had the windows open, might not be a problem with windows shut.

The Penwig is in a fantastic location & has an outside seating area overlooking the sea. The rooms are basic but very clean and offer excellent value for money considering the location. The current manager runs the place well & is friendly & helpful. The team we spoke to were really friendly & the service was good. The place gets very busy for food orders in the early evening, but staff managed this well.
Rooms a bit small and basic but good value
