Reception and bar / restaurant was everything you’d expect from a boutique hotel. Some reviews were complaining about the reception area but it makes sense in a hotel such as this. In quiet periods there is one member of staff doing reception bar and restaurant and I am sure many more .. Katie was amazing, very attentive, she walked me to my courtyard room she was a wonderful personal touch. Whilst serving in bar and restaurant although my menu choice was not available she promptly offered me alternative which isn’t always so easy being a vegetarian Room was small but very comfortable and had everything I needed.
I arrived evening and left early morning, for that purpose the hotel had all I needed

We liked everything about this stay. The room was spacious, old like the grand Manor House itself.. the decor was perfect.. with its hanging chandeliers and wooden staircase. The place was not huge with just 14 bedrooms. It felt homely. plus I just love the old buildings and style. We had everything we needed from soap to teabags in the room. There was a bar but we had made other arrangements. The hotel was clean., and felt like we had stepped into the past. We have stayed in numerous hotels which range from terrible to exceptional. This came in one of my favourites. For some, the antique feel and remoteness of the hotel, may not be their choice. For us it was fab! The staff were friendly. The receptionist Katie, was fabulous and made us feel so welcome. from arrival to check out. she was there advising us, and made us so welcome at breakfast. The breakfast was very good. The presentation of food was lovely, plenty to eat. We had a lovely stay thank you, I judge my stays by asking myself would I go back again? Yes I would… for longer next time.lol
The postcode on the sat nav took us elsewhere.

We only stayed for one night as we were attending a wedding close by. The main hotel building itself was a fantastic old house and very well maintained. The site was in a good setting, with the golf course providing an excellent back drop. It was a shame I didn't have the time to have a round. The room we had was in the older part of the house and was very good with plenty of space. We had to go early the next morning, so didn't try the breakfast. This would be a great location and stay for a golfing break.
I could see that the hotel had undergone recent refurbishment in some places, but I got the feeling that some things weren't quite fully finished in the courtyard area and felt a little neglected. The car park wasn't that great and felt temporary. I also got the feeling that staffing was an issue as there was only one member of staff present in the evening up to around 10pm and then no one on site overnight!?

The aspect is stunning, and the hotel has beautiful features. It is a work in progress ✨️ but quite unique 👌 the staff, you can not fault very attentive, helpful and accommodating. The owners are very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble 😀 The only thing missing is a quiet lounge area, but I don't know where they could put it 😕 Would I stay again? YES I WOULD. And recommend it highly 👌 especially if you love golf ⛳️
That the bar was closed early on father's day 😳 which felt rather unwelcoming. But that's the only minor fault 😊

Our recent stay at this gem of a hotel was nothing short of spectacular, and I can't wait to share our experience. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel at home by the friendly and professional staff. Lorna looked after us so well, her passion for serving incredible food shining through in every interaction. And a huge thank you to Con, the awesome chef, whose culinary skills blew us away! The food was simply divine. The combination of flavours was perfectly balanced, with the infusion of crab being a standout—so fresh and full of flavour not distracting from the main ingredient. The lamb was another highlight, cooked to perfection and so tender it practically melted in your mouth. But it wasn't just the food that made our stay unforgettable. Our room was fabulous, to say the least. I could hardly contain my excitement when I saw the huge bath—what a treat! Waking up to see deer right from our bed was another level of amazing. It’s rare to find such a place where both the food and the room complement each other so perfectly. A special mention must go to the owner, who, unbeknownst to me at the time, kindly brought Prosecco up to our room—a gesture that was truly appreciated. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, as always. Thank you for making our visit so memorable and enjoyable. We can't wait to return!

Very helpful staff, beautiful setting and good food. Good tea, coffee, water and biscuits in rooms. Comfy beds, easy parking, great value.
Not so much didn't like, but the courtyard rooms are decorated beautifully, comfy beds, money spent on them. But finishing touches that would make them great missing. eg doors opening into the courtyard have glass panes which have been badly painted black to keep light out, painting on window frames not done well, yet the windows are new and good quality. It's a shame to miss the detail. Doesn't"t detract from room the stay though, more curious.

Hotel in pretty location with views. Excellent food! Polite and helpful staff. Breakfast was served in the main restaurant which had a lovely ambiance.
We were called regarding a party being held on our first night. We arrived at the hotel and were offered two different rooms in case of noise. We were happy with either. We were not affected by any noise. Our only feeling was we had booked an evening meal, which was in an extension, it was mainly glass, it was cold but the staff put the fitted heaters on. Guests at the party came in several times to take chairs for their party. There were only two other diners, when we ate. The food was excellent.

We recently stayed overnight at Welbeck Manor and it was an unforgettable experience. The exceptional staff made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived. Our beautiful room was a perfect blend of comfort and luxury, with stunning decor and modern amenities. We also enjoyed a fabulous roast dinner that was both delicious and beautifully presented Every detail of our stay exceeded our expectations, and the impeccable service made it even more special. We highly recommend Welbeck Manor and look forward to returning.

Beautiful, peaceful location, great size room (stayed in the Royal Albert suite), gorgeous glam decor, very restful. Friendly staff and yummy food. Please start offering locals discounts during quiet times to get the rooms full!
Would’ve loved to have beside lamps in the room, the overhead ones were stunning, but way too bright!! Also, in a luxury suite I would’ve expected robes and bath sheets (not bath towels) to be included. With those, the room would be a 10.

The hotel is a little bit difficult to find. Use your Satnav and follow the brown golf club signs. It is near Dartmoor Zoo. It is in a pleasant village. It has changed ownership since my last visit. It is much more up-market. The décor has been modernised. We were in a very well converted building external to the house. It was an excellent single bedded room, giving some privacy to the two in there. The hotel serves good pub food. There is no longer a pub in the village
