Excellent value for money! The room was spotless and well maintained. While the soundproofing wasn’t great, we were lucky to visit during the low season, so it was very quiet. The kitchen was fully equipped, and guests clean up after themselves, which kept everything tidy. Perfect for travelers who want to grab groceries and cook their own meals. Our room had a private bathroom and a small fridge, which was super convenient. Overall, we were very happy with our stay, and the staff were warm, friendly, and gave us great local restaurant recommendations

There’s really nothing to complain about, except that the soundproofing could be better. However, if you choose one of the standalone units, noise won’t be an issue at all.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE This Place! I got stranded heading back to New Plymouth in My New Lexus and I was in Otorohanga on Booking.com I had my small baby with me and we just needed a place to rest/stay while we waited for the Awakino Gorge to open (flooding) ANYWAY so this magical wee place out in the country was the perfect nights stay I found myself underneath a beautiful sky of stars surrounded by many tall trees that complemented the night sky, I stayed in the lodge part with the communal kitchen it was definitely worth it! I took many photos, I was greeted by a lovely Young Lady who even helped me with my bags! She is a darling! Very helpful! The place is so relaxing and quiet with other visitors who are so nice as well. The kitchen area is massive with a tv. Great time in there! My lodge room had its own shower and of course a lovely warm heater which was nice in this cold weather. I’d love to thank the lovely lady for an adventure I never thought I’d see that week. Very Well Done! Will definately be back xxx

I didn’t like that I had to leave I really wanted the Awakino gorge to stay shut even just for one more day lol so much to explore !!!

Peaceful location close to the Waitomo caves (walking distance 5 minutes to the caves, 20 minutes to Black Water rafting what’s amazing by the way - I did the Labyrinth). I got stranded in Waitomo as there are no intercity buses on Saturdays and could book another night and it was even cheaper than on booking. They were extremely flexible, helpful and kind and I was allowed to change rooms to have one at the sunny side (the odd-numbered) as I got really could during the night and was also allowed to have a late check-out. And I got lucky and had a room for myself as they weren’t fully booked. Thank you so much! I had a great time. The Tomo (really special if you like meat) and the Hulu Cafe both are good places for food and right around the corner. The main walk around there is closed but there are some tiny and beautiful walks around the area and the museum is also quite interesting.

We had one night in the family chalet (the only one with a kitchenette) and found it to be very comfortable. The lodgings were modest and humble but very clean and well maintained and the bed linen was of a very high standard. There was no air conditioning but there were some pedestal fans we used given the surprisingly warm weather. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and suggested Hu Hu Cafe and Restaurant for dinner which was great. I would highly recommend this accommodation if you’re ever in Waitomo.

There was nothing to dislike.

I had a fantastic experience at this hostel! The receptionist was very friendly and helpful during check-in, making me feel welcome from the start. The shared kitchen was tidy and spacious, providing a great space to cook and socialize. I also want to highlight the excellent service from the staff. I accidentally locked myself out late at night, but when I called for help, they responded quickly and assisted me in unlocking my room door. Overall, a great stay with excellent service. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you are booking waitomo caves, it’s very close. There was a restaurant in the complex as well as another a short walk away. There was also a store very near. We did spellbound glow worm tour and it was about a 5km drive. Which was okay with us. I had the best sleep of my stay while there.

I guess the only thing I could say is they could use some shelving and hooks in the bathrooms. But my husband mentioned this and they indicated it was on their to do list. I would definitely stay again.

Our visit to Waitomo Caves was towards the end of our trip to New Zealand so we appreciated having access to a communal kitchen where we could make our own dinners. There was also access to a laundry which we didn't end up using but was good to have as an option. The owners, Eric and his wife, were really friendly and helpful when we arrived. Eric's positiveness and openness to chat, helped us feel comfortable staying at the accommodation.

Helpful and friendly staff at reception. Our room, bedding and towels were spotlessly clean. The communal kitchen too was really clean. Very convenient for Waitomo Caves.

There was no fan so we had to have the door open at night. A table, little cupboard or shelves in the bathroom would be really useful as there is nowhere to put any toiletries. A little expensive for the type of room.

We loved the location so quiet and relaxing. The lovely couple who run it are so friendly and gave us some great advice about what to do around the area and dinner options all fantastic choices. The chalets are very private and cosy and ours being upstairs had a beautiful balcony with view Absolutely loved our stay just wish we could of stayed longer. Would definitely recommend staying here for a lovely weekend away or passing through. It felt very personal not like a hotel chain with no personality.

Location was great for access to Waitomo Village. Very quiet with comfortable beds and good linen. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good for good nights sleep. Better facilities than we expected from the booking page, these were located in other buildings (EG kitchen)

Bathroom didn't have any soap. The shower mixer / head needs replacing. Drain is missing the cover
