The grounds and room were beautiful. A bit disappointed by the lack of information provided at check in about the castle and times for breakfast dinner, nearby things to do etc. it was our first time at this castle and we didn't feel as welcome as we have at other places. The first afternoon/night we sat outside and service was inconsistent , it was difficult to get someone to order anything and felt ignored and not welcome. The next morning, we went for breakfast and no one was there and we waited inside until a server identified we needed a seat. The person who served us seemed in a bad mood and was not very friendly or engaging. The final afternoon turned around with incredibly friendly, engaging and attentive bar staff outside with great service.

The staff are so friendly and professional. The grounds are beautiful and the room was huge with a walk in shower

The food in the restaurant was really delicious. The only minor point was the vegetarian main dish was a vegetable ribbon pakora - one of these pakoras would be perfect as a starter as it was tasty but in my opinion, 3 large pakoras comprising a main dish didn't quite work; the texture became too homogeneous and it needed something else. Maybe serve it as an accompaniment to a vegetarian main? The breads, dips, sides and desserts were exquisite. The steak, I'm told was cooked perfectly. Excellent service in the restaurant. Good wine list also.

Lovely property that didn’t cease to amaze the family! We had a huge family room in the courtyard, the beds were comfy and it was perfectly decorated! The staff was wonderful, so kind and willing to assist as well as answer questions. The grounds were immaculately kept and there were a couple of pretty trails to just escape into nature.

This has been mentioned before, but the room requires the only key given to lock the door. There is a small chain lock, but very minimal. Also, because they use a large metal key (hence keyhole), if the key’s not left in the lock, you can see into the room through the keyhole! If I were alone, as a woman, this would be unsettling. If one had issues with stairs, the walk to the dining room would have been close to impossible from the courtyard. Long walk and many stairs. Definitely request a closer room if you need assistance (we were fine, just an observation).

Our room in one of the side stone buildings was the most charming and comfortable that we have stayed. It was so romantic. We had high tea, dinner and breakfast. The food was top notch and the elegant surrounds and views made us feel like royalty. The cozy bar had some early evening entertainment. We had Irish coffees to end the evening. The castle has a grand staircase, lots of interesting antiques, several opulent lounge areas and it was fun going around the three different staircases to explore. The grounds have 1 km walkway and there is forest of historic significance about a 5min drive $5 to enter but very pretty. Save some time for this. It’s all explained in the binder and brochure in your room. We wish we had stayed longer. There was a wedding there and it just added to the romance. And parking and breakfast were included!

We couldn’t control the heat in our room but they adjusted it for us right away. It’s on a timer for sustainability reasons. Otherwise it was a real gem.

The Castle is stunning the grounds are very impressive. Inside is how you imagine a Castle to look. It’s obvious the owners take pride in their hotel and it is well maintained and looked after

The check in was disappointing we arrived early at 2.30 understandably we were asked to come back at 3 . We went to the bar and returned to reception at 3 but the room still wasn’t ready we had to wait a further 25 min we got to our room at 3.30 . The hotel could do with a designated bar as opposed to a bar that serves mainly as a restaurant. Our room in house number 5 was unbelievably hot at night . I was looking forward to a bath the next day before breakfast but there was no hot water for either a bath or a shower . We went to breakfast after a cold shower and checked out .

My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary a few weeks ago and this was our first time at Cabra Castle Hotel. Such an incredible experience! Everything about this hotel was fantastic. Lovely place, very welcoming staff. Louise, our waitress at the Courtroom Restaurant was amazing and her service was first class. Sebastian, the manager of the Derby Bar was such a nice person. We cannot express our gratitude enough. We definitely stay again.

The castle and grounds are stunning. We were here on the hottest day of the year and the bar patio perfect location. Our courtyard room was exceptional in every way and nice and quiet despite 2 weddings

Our bar food for the evening meal which we had booked in advance was very disappointing. The fish was dry and overcooked and the curry was too salty and couldn't eat....we were sitting at our table for a long time without a member of staff coming to us.....

staff were very friendly, room spacious and clean along as well as being warm. Grounds well kept. Very quiet in lodges, even with a wedding on.

Balcony in lodge needs decking replaced as it was bowing in places. Severely short staffed in derby bar, lots of dirty tables, glassware also not polished - water marked making feel dirty in both Derby bar and the breakfast. Running out of plates, bowls etc at breakfast continental buffet. Manager in derby bar came across stressed and frustrated witnessed at dinner.

Place was really nice, we had dinner and it was very tasty. The room was very well decorated, clean and had everything you could need. The bed was the only downside on the stay, both my wife and I though it was too hard and both had a sore back in the morning. We went down for breakfast and there was a bit of a queue, we were seated in a lovely room while we waited for a table. In a few minutes we were called, the breakfast was quite varied with everything you could think of and we both left with full bellies. Good all round experience, very enjoyable.

Enjoyed pretty much everything, just the bed was a bit hard but would not stop us going back. Customer service was faultless and nothing was too much.

The room was huge! We booked a double room but the bed was more like a king. So incredible comfortable and the staff were so helpful. We were here for a wedding and it was worth every penny. Breakfast the next morning was also amazing. Incredibly beautiful grounds also. Loved having a courtyard room as only 4 rooms share the entrance door

Some rooms were a decent walk away (the cottages) but the hotel and courtyard rooms were so central to everything.
