My favorite accommodation in Korea. We were really looking forward to staying in a hanok, and we truly enjoyed our time there. I’m used to sleeping on the floor, but this traditional Korean bed pleasantly surprised me with how comfortable it was – I slept really well. The area was quiet, and that night the temperature was so pleasant that we didn’t even need to use the air conditioning, which was available. The shared kitchen was cute and very authentic. We met the owner and other guests – it was a lovely morning with breakfast included in the stay.

The bathroom was a bit old and very small, probably not ideal for showering, but since we were only staying one night, it didn’t bother me.

The host is very nice and helpful. He let us drop our luggage off before check in while we did some visits. The room was small but clean. The heated floor was very nice. The breakfast was very good. Very nicely located. Within walking distance of many touristic locations: Bukchon Hanok Village, 2 palaces, Insadong, Iksedong and about 5 minutes to the bus stop.

We had the single room without attached bathroom. The room has its own bathroom, it's just across the courtyard so you have to go outside to get to it. We were there in November, so that was a little cold. Probably less of a problem in the summer.

It was straightforward. You get a solid Hanok-style experience. The owner was really nice. We arrived earlier than our check-in time, but He allowed us to leave our things inside the property. He asked us not to ring the doorbell if we ever arrived early because he was being considerate of the other guests. The location is right at the heart of the "Old Town"; you have Gyeongbukgong, Changdeokgong, Insadong, Gwangwhamun Square, Cheonggyecheon Stream, and it is a Hanok village area. The breakfast was filling. We got toast, and the owner cooked us eggs, noodles, cereals, a variety of milk and fruit juices, and shikhye. The room we had was small since it was just my sister and me. I really love the smell of hardwood. It brings back the nostalgia. There were Hanbok rentals around it and a near 711 down the other alley across Gyeongbukgong Place. We got their transition from summer to fall, so it was chilly and a bit warm at the same time. That was why UT was so nice to hang out outside the small courtyard. The owners/people in charge were really nice. I'm so glad we booked here because we were looking for something different, and it exceeded our expectations and experience. And if I'm asked, I would book here again.☺️

We had a single room/room for two, and the toilet was not attached to our room. We had to go. Out of the room, to the lounge to use the toilet. But generally, it was doable. Adds up to the charm.

It was very nice to stay at Gongsimga, which is located in Hanok village, where I walked around in the evening of the check-in day and the morning of the check-out day. It was great to see many Korean traditional style houses, many of which are mixed with modern buildings. I saw a few Japanese and Chinese restaurants in the village. It took me about 25min to walk to get to Gongsimga from Aladin second-hand bookstore, which is located near the Gyeongbokgung Palace. The Ondol room I stayed was a bit small for me, but very quiet and comfortable. It was air-conditioned. There was no bed but the Korean style mattress was quite comfortable. I had a good sleep there. The toilet and bathroom were combined in a quite small space, separated from the Ondol room. The breakfast was good as well. Fried eggs and Kimchi were prepared by the owner. I also had bananas, milk, coffee and apple juice. I toasted bread myself with a toaster. Of course, butter and cheese were available as well. Both the owner, a Korean man, and the receptionist, a Korean girl with very good English, were polite and kind. I hope to stay there again in the future. I wish them all the best and many thanks to them.

The room was a bit small for me.

The location was amazing, super easy and quick walk to the Bukchon Hanok Village or to access public transportation. The staff was also very nice and friendly, and I think it was a great experience to sleep in a traditional Hanok house. Definitely recommend it for those who like history and architecture.

The only thing is that the bathroom for the single room was very tiny and not very comfortable. Had to deal with some spiders as well, which is expected since it's a ground floor house, but didn't love it.

Really great traditional experience! The host kept apologising that it is not comfortable but it was exactly what we expected, and even more considering the place had air-conditioning and private toilet. Host was polite and caring, ensuring we were safe and keeping the place clean. Location is right near gyeongbokgung palace and bukchon hanok village so it feels like you are living in heritage

It's a traditional guest house so expect lots of steps, the mattress was also too thin and soft such that you sink into the hard floor. Great for an experience when young but if older and looking for comfort, may not be a good idea.

STELLAR location and gorgeous hanok for an amazing value! Could not have found a better location. It's right across the street from Gyeongbeokgung Palace, and next to several cheap hanbok rentals, good restaurants, cute cafes, bus stops, and a beautiful little Buddhist temple that had a great lantern setup for Buddha's birthday. The host was almost always around when we were there, and explained everything very thoroughly even in English. He even provides some hanbok in the living room area to wear around inside the hanok! Breakfast was included and had a lot of simple selections of box drinks, toast, coffee, etc. There's space to keep large luggage outside under the porch step, including a luggage cover and brush, and we had enough room for our smaller bags in the room. My favorite area is the little elevated porch(?) in the middle of the garden area that you can sit on and have breakfast or just chill out.

It was hard to find a time to do laundry since quiet hours are between about ~9pm-9am, which is understandable because of the noise. But as tourists, we spent the whole day out from early morning until late evening. So plan accordingly. *Things to note for foreigners: The toilet, shower, and sink share a drain and bathroom area, which is normal for Korean homes even in the more modern ones. I love it because it's convenient, but my friend was surprised by the water coming out of the back of the sink; I think if you're not used to it, it can take getting used to. It's an old traditional hanok home and that's the charm! :)

The owner is very nice and 소영 (who works there and welcomed me at my arrival ) was so sweet, kind, and helpful ! She made sure my stay was very comfortable. I had such a great relaxing time. I hope I can do it again soon !

Great value for money option if you'd like to experience staying at a traditional hanok for a couple of nights. The guesthouse is equipped with the basic amenities you need during your stay. The experience might not be for everyone, which unfortunately is the case for me as well. However this is of no fault of the property and merely a personal preference. If you're interested to try the experience, I recommend to research how staying at a hanok is like before booking.

Wonderful and atmospheric hanok guesthouse. Incredible location right near the main palace but yet it’s located on a cozy quiet street. The guest house host was very patient and helpful meeting me late in the evening. I liked my little room, it even had welcome treats and water. For this price you also get breakfast, different ramen, toasts, juice, tea. Thank you! If I come to Seoul again in the future, I’d like to experience it again.
