First stay here and arrived at night. Not initially easy to find as it's deep in the midst of woodland. In keeping with woodland the exterior and parking areas were very dark but I'm not sure how safe that is when you've no orientation of the area and woodland from the raised parking area. Dinner was very busy and staff remain mainly at the Bar, so it's hard to get their attention unless you get up to speak to them personally. However, this morning, with the fog rising off the grass, the view outside my room is auspicious! There is so much nature and so much tranquillity. I'm hoping to bring my best friend back to make use of the Spa facilities, take long walks and lounge in a gorgeous room in early Summer.

Excellent staff, nice environment and great food. Real bonus to get Sky Sports!
We were disappointed that our room was changed to accommodate others without notice or consultation, packaged up as an upgrade but actually to a very warm room without air conditioning when we had booked a particular room specifically for this. Did move us to a lovely air conditioned room for second night and thoughtful enough to ensure it was already cool. Bit of a giveaway that there were 2 fans in the original room (the ones facing the front in the main building get very warm and face over the terrace) and we don’t tend to book here in the summer if those rooms with aircon not available.

The breakfast was good and a wide choice but as I prefer to have a healthy fruit and yoghurt breakfast I paid over the odds.
I didn't like sitting next to the busy open plan kitchen with the noise going on and the distraction when trying to have a relaxing meal. We asked if we could sit outside instead. Luckily it was warm enough. I didn't like having to write my order down myself. Even though I underlined that I didn't want bacon on the skate wing it was still served with bacon which they took away and scraped off. We also put our drinks order on the piece of paper which never came. We had to asked where it had got to by which time we had started the meal. We learned to order and get our drinks at the bar before we found a table and placed our food order.

Very good value for money. Beautiful building and setting, fabulous breakfast included and dinner was lovely if on the expensive side (£90+ for 2)
On arrival at 2pm we were greeted with “computer says no” response to early room access (it was 2pm but clearly their policy is to not allow access until 3pm regardless if rooms ready). That was annoying as we had a lot of stuff decamped in reception but they did volunteer to put in room at 3pm to be fair to reception staff Location is isolated, peaceful, scenic which is great or a pain depending on your schedule. Families with young kids loved it as the kids could play safely

Beautiful place in immaculate condition, lovely bedroom and bathroom, fine view over manicured lawns and mature trees from a first floor room in the fine main building. One of our best-ever cooked breakfasts, and good evening light meals in a lovely outside dining area and lounge. Very comfortable bed. But most of all I would like to highly commend the staff (and in particular the brilliant receptionist guy - Mino, was it? - who helped us out after we had a vehicle problem so much and was a delight to chat to), along with pleasant and helpful breakfast staff. Air conditioning in the room would have been a bonus in the incredibly hot nights, but two big fans had been thoughfully provided. We would have happily stayed longer than our two nights.
Nothing.

A perfect location to stay, close to the A12 and local attractions , like Sutton Hoo, Ipswich, Felixstowe and Woodbridge, but really peaceful. Opted for an apartment , at the Gatehouse and although slightly more expensive than rooms in the hotel, I was really impressed with the size, decoration and fixtures and fittings. Our apartment was disabled accessible and had a wet room.
Booked through Booking dot com and my booking advised me I was entitled to breakfast , but was advised by the property my booking should have been room only , but they honoured my free breakfast with no argument. The spa has to be paid for separately and is quite pricey

Really gorgeous property. Looks lovely. Nice details in the bedrooms. A nice Dyson fan as it was a very hot day. Great bathroom and Elemis toiletries. Food on room service was nice. Bed super comfortable. Jess ( receptionist ) couldn’t do enough for me. Very professional!!
Their WiFi was very hit and miss. It makes it difficult to recommend as a business hotel - I’d stay here like a shot if it was for leisure. Also the bedroom telephone didn’t work, and the Dyson fan remote didn’t work. So had to keep unplugging it and plugging it in again and then randomly pressing button to get it to start. Which it did in the end.

Lovely property beautiful surroundings.
All the staff were friendly and helpful. However, there was a long delay for the initial service for the evening meal. Once we had ordered it was great but from arriving to actually ordering it was disorganized and after a 20 min wait I had to approach the service staff as we had been seated and then left with no menus. My wine also was not served by the time I was eating my starter so this detracted from my enjoyment of the excellent food. The pencil and paper system for ordering is outdated and needs reviewing. A front of house member of staff in the evening dedicated to the customer experiencing a smoother evening service needs to be a priority. The food was excellently cooked and delicious.

The cooked breakfast was excellent. The dinner in the restaurant was excellent. All staff were excellent except one who forgot something I ordered. The bed was very comfortable, the hospitality tray very good and the bathroom lovely. The grounds were stunning. The cold/continental buffet was good. The artwork was excellent (but lacked variety)
The breakfast buffet lacked prepared fruit/fruit salad. The cafetière coffee was poor. It is understood that furniture and decor may not match the age/period of the property but the colour scheme and furniture were mostly drab unimaginative noughties themed. The tables/chairs in the lounge looked like thunderbirds sixties pastiche. Some of the posters reminded one of a teenager’s bedroom. Some antique/traditional furniture, decor and artwork should be placed in the property especially in the lounge.

Everything was as expected as have visited prior to this visit. Booked a superior room as the standard room last time was very cosy(small). Dinner was superb, breakfast was superb and the staff were extremely welcoming and warm. Loved the availability of eating at any time an early dinner ready for the theatre…perfect. Your receptionist was extremely welcoming and a real asset to your team.
The room was a little tired looking. Wires hanging from the tv, not a great look. The bin under the dressing table had seen better days. A dressing gown for us both would have been a lovely extra touch.
