Great location, beautiful area, good size rooms. The hotel was very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Great facilities and breakfast quite sophisticated. Quiet at night and very close to Hankyu train station, a starting point for exploring Kyoto. We really enjoyed staying in Arashiyama Hotel following a few days in Tokyo, and we would happily stay there again. The staff were very attentive and professional.

We wanted to forward the luggage to our next hotel, but the company the hotel uses does not deliver to all the locations ( Tokyo, Asakusa specifically) and we spent several hours trying to find an alternative. There are quite a few Yamato Transport locations in Arashiyama, but all of them are quite far from the hotel.

The location is excellent as it offers a wonderful view across the town.It is also within easy walking distance to two local train lines which give you inexpensive and quick access to Kyoto's central areas. The rooms are spacious, the breakfast always delicious and the staff are helpful and very friendly. It is a great alternative as accommodation to being stuck in a high-rise , locked window midtown hotel. The town of Arashimaya is itself is a prime example of overtourism and its detrimental effects. But this hotel allows you to get out and about early in the morning - as long as you have breakfast at 7 am. There are many excellent restaurants in this area but they are primarily set up for lunch and most close at 5-6 pm. Making a reservation is advisable. My final observation is that the Hoshinoya hotel , located up the Katsura river about 500 m away may offer bigger rooms with very old facilities and a slow boat ride as it's main means of escape but this hotel is easily a better , friendlier experience with a view to rival any in town and for 1/10 of the price!

We liked being away from the hustle and bustle in this quieter part of Kyoto. There are tourist crowds in the area, but not near the hotel. The rooms have a view of the wooden bridge, river, and mountains. Try the add-on Japanese breakfast at least once. It is an incredible value for about $10. The staff was so gracious and welcoming, and the rooms are spotless and fairly roomy. We would definitely stay again.

It's a bit far from the center of Kyoto, but the onsen next door, the quiet neighborhood, nearby hiking, and other conveniences make up for it.

A nice, comfortable and quiet location. Near the train station and with a nice view on the river and the bridge. Very friendly and supportive staff. They made a superb breakfast. As I spent two weeks in the hotel it was a pleasure being able to use a hotel's bycicle

Only Japanese programmes on television. As there are also non Japanese speaking guests in the hotel I strongly recommend that access is made possible to e.g. CNN or BBC-world. A lot of unnecessary plastic is used in the hotel. In order to contribute to less environment pollution e.g. covering glasses with plastic and putting clean towels in a plastic bag can be cancelled.

The location is perfection! I loved being so close to the river and near the shops and dining options in Arashiyama. The rooms were small but had everything you needed. It was cozy and comfortable. The location however could not be beat!

We would have like a bit more help from the front desk. We were trying to find some dinner recommendations and had difficulty getting help finding some. The shops in the area close so early so finding food after like 6pm is difficult without prior planning or reservations.

The view from the room was straight to Togetsukyou bridge, absolutely breath taking. The staff was very friendly, respectful and helpful. I was given a discount code for the nearest onsen and was able to leave my luggage the next day at the reception for some time (I wanted to walk around Arashiyama a bit more before moving to my next location). The breakfast was in Japanese style - very healthy and tasty. The room was clean, spacious with comfortable bed. Honestly nothing bad to say, I really enjoyed my stay at Arashiyama hotel and probably will use it again if I have an opportunity.

The staff was amazing and accomdating for English Speaker. Room was large and my unit had a vaulted ceiling which is super rare in Japan. Location was superb, walkable to the main streets of Arashiyama. View from room fantastic. Sound of the waterway below was soothing for me (windows can be closed to muffle sound). Local Onsen was just down the street and was fantastic. Japanese traditional breakfast with coffee available was amazing. I had it for two days and it was superb. Pro Tip: (weather permitting) ask to have breakfast out on the patio for amazing views.

Loved this hotel, staff were amazing I had enquired about laundry facilities but they advised they did not have any which was fine however on checking in they had given me the location of nearest coin laundry and a little map to show it was only 3 minute drive away lovely touch, we had a car so was important to book parking space in Front of hotel (only space for two cars) but worked perfectly.

Sometimes when a place is so great I am torn between keeping it a secret and shouting its merits from the rooftops. Guess I am going to shout from the rooftops just how very great this property is because they deserve the praise. The staff were AMAZING. Okada went above and beyond to help us out with times, and restaurant recommendations. They gave us a special treat and served us a wonderful breakfast. Everyone was just so nice!! It was quiet, perfect location, clean, and super comfortable. I think it might be my new favorite place to stay.

Wish I could have stayed longer.

The room was quiet in that you could not hear other visitors. There was some noise from the weir on the adjacent river but the hotel has good double glazing so it was just a background hum. Comfy bed, spotlessly clean, fluffy duvet, warm room and very helpful, pleasant staff. I did not have breakfast as visiting relatives. Great view of the mountains - see view from my window below. Lift. ( lovely cake shop/cafe nearby - open 11 - 5)

My only minor criticism is could the hotel provide instructions in English for the heating zapper?
