We stayed for five nights in this classic hotel located within walking distance to a lot of the main attractions in Canberra - National Library, National Portrait Gallery, the National Gallery, Questacon Old Parliament House and New Parliament House, Within a short drive there is the Australian War Memorial (a definite "must see" even though the additions are still under construction) and the National Museum. The Hotel is an older hotel and has been modernised such that all the facilities are up to date. There is a Gym and for those who are less energetic there are well kept gardens with an outdoor chess set! The rooms are well fitted out, roomy and comfortable. Reception was excellent. Caitlin was very friendly welcoming and helpful at check in. While there is no restaurant in the hotel there are several good ones nearby.

Location is great. close to many attractions, lakeside walks and restaurants. The beds are comfortable with nice king size pillows. Great to have a centralised amenities/mini bar room near reception which meant the room fridge is not cluttered with things you don't need. The staff are polite and helpful. I would like to mention Indra as an outstanding front of house person. He was so understanding and accomodating when we requested a room upgrade.
The hotel is old and rooms are dated particularly the bathrooms. Could be improved with better plumbing and lighting. There are no extractor fans in the bathroom and the taps and shower taps are hard to use. The toiletry products are nice but in pumps that are fixed to the wall and very stiff to operate. The console housing the kettle, coffee machine etc is so dark as not enough lightning in the room to see what you are doing.

Great amenities. The room was great, and the gym and garden were excellent. I've stayed here a few times now and really like the hotel. It's by far one of the best and great value for money for what you get.
The TV would be the only thing. It happened last time I was there too in a different room. The TV's can play SD channels, but not HD channels. That limits TV channels to only a small handful (of the 50 + Foxtel) available (i.e. 10, 10Bold, 10Drama, FoxArena and FoxSports3 and FoxSports9). All the other channels do not play. Depends on what you're in the hotel for I suppose. Some people not even notice.

The hotel is really nice, beautiful old building, small garden in front and back, great room, and the staff are really helpful. The hotel also have grab and go room, where u can get free tap filter water, coffee and tea. There are other snacks but of course you need to pay for it. Enjoyed my stay in the hotel, the room is at the end of the hall, so it's quiet, in the morning have some breakfast in the garden. The best part is the gym, it's not your typical hotel gym, there are a lot of equipment and serious weight there. Also parking is free, just register it with the receptionist. The check out is at 11am, easy and smooth.
The bed a bit soft for my liking, but i think its preference.

The room was nice and clean. Smaller than I expected (due to photos on the booking site) but it was comfortable and did the job for a one night stay. It's a lovely old building that has been well looked after. Very cute. The staff were very helpful and friendly on the evening I arrived. The gardens were beautiful! If it wasn't raining the next morning, it would have been a lovely spot to relax during my stay.
From the bed, you could hear the toilet flushing directly upstairs and then the water running through the pipes in the wall from it. The bed was very, very soft. I only mention it because I'm not used to a super soft bed. But otherwise I'm sure others might find it comfortable. It's all about preference I guess.

The clean, well equipped, spacious room. The bed and pillows were amazing! The staff were friendly and helpful. As there is no lift to the second floor, I requested a ground floor room, which they were able to provide.i loved that there was free off street parking.
No restaurant/cafe for breakfast. But they do sell breakfast supplies like cereal at very inflated prices. I went to a supermarket the first day and purchased my own, for my stay. Bathrooms are very small, with no natural light & poor lighting. They need to install a magnifying shaving/make up mirror.

We booked last minute and got a really great weekend rate. Beyond that it just got better. The location was great and included parking. The hotel itself was quaint and had some personality to the building rather than a cookie cutter hotel. The staff were warm and helpful. The room was huge and included an actual kettle with real milk. That sounds a little odd, but we often stay places where there's just a coffee pod machine and which is a terrible unsatisfying experience for tea drinkers :) The hotel exceeded our expectations and for the rate we paid we would definitely stay again. Thank you.
If you have a lot of luggage, perhaps ask for a ground floor room as there are no lifts.

I had a room with a newly renovated bathroom which was spotless. The room was up one flight of stairs and had a lovely view out the window including the top of the Parliament House flagpole. Parking was super easy and the hotel is located in a quiet area. We were given a $50 voucher for dinner and used it on a delicious waygu steak at Osteria, a block away. There is a paid snack/alcohol self serve pantry, with free tea/coffee/hot chocolate (also capsule coffee in the room). Plus apples at reception! I would definitely stay at the Brassey again.

Beds are really comfortable. Overall hotel feels luxurious and homey. Main room is spacious and tv is good enough (would be better if all regular channels were available). Different light options is a really good positive.
Shower head too high. Soap dispensers are tricky to pump and doesn't release much soap. Shower tiles need to be checked, there appears to be some black mold. The furniture positions makes it hard to connect to power points. Kettle cord too short, needed to boil in the bathroom.

Very clean, lovely gardens. The location was not central but meant it was very quiet at night which was appreciated. The self-serve bar was very handy.
Our room was advertised as 2 bedrooms which it wasn’t, there was 1 bedroom and 1 bed in the main room. Unfortunately there wasn’t a couch to relax on, only a large dining table and chairs for 4. Considering there were no kitchen facilities it was unnecessary, and a couch and armchairs with a coffee table would have been much more useful.
