Beautiful location, very friendly owners/staff. Excellent breakfasts and packed lunches made for us. Honesty bar is a lovely idea - and very fairly priced. The hotel was very nice and anyone rating it a 0/badly is plain wrong. Based on our research, if you have the budget, this is a great option for those wanting a pleasant base near Snowdon.
The road to the property, as some others have mentioned is indeed tricky to navigate and you must access it from the Beddgelert side or it is impossible to access the hotel due to a very tight turn and raised concrete on the road. No additional fresh towels provided during the stay was a bit of a disappointment given the £180 per night rate.

Tucked away from traffic and crowds, Sygun Fawr is a rural haven. Beautiful views of mountains and a glorious garden to sit in and enjoy the sun. A very warm welcome from Jane who solved our logistical problems for climbing Snowdon as well as advising on best places to eat out and showing us around the hotel. Bed was comfortable, room was spacious with double views, bathroom was modern, spacious and well lit. Everything was beautifully clean. Plenty of storage space if we’d wanted it. A impressively wide range of options for breakfast, which you select from the night before. The Wi Fi is a secure network. Very good. There are plenty of books and games to play should you be unlucky with the weather.
People need to be aware that access to the hotel is via a very narrow road that barely has a passing place. You pray that no one comes the other way. Our room didn’t have a hair dryer, sadly. I didn’t ask but I’m sure if I had done the situation would have been rectified. There is little if any mobile reception at the hotel so you do need to use the Wi-Fi.

We visited 7 years ago, and even with new owners, the hotel is still as good. Breakfast was great, with good portions. We had one evening meal, which was excellent, and the little bar and conservatory were a lovely place to relax and have a drink. Keith and Michaela were really friendly hosts, and we had some good laughs with them. Especially when they randomly popped up in some of our photos... The location is idyllic, with majestic views, and would 100% recommend this for a short break. There are some lovely eating places nearby and lots to do. You will need a car. Also, Buster, the family dog, is a superstar... Enjoy!!
There is nothing to dislike.

End of May three night stay. Our second visit to Sygun Fawr. A warm welcome from Jess & Michaela who escorted us to room two. A spacious room with views across to Dinas Emrys and Mynydd Sygun. Tea coffee facilities and a pleasant bathroom (shower). The room was exceptionally clean and maintained daily. Breakfast served daily in the conservatory overlooking the egardens. You order breakfast by way of a menu the day before.. A vast choice of either continental or more substantial meals. Served between 0800-0930hrs. Dinner in Sygun Fawr is served in the comfort of the dining room Monday to Thursday (giving guests the opportunity to venture into nearby Beddgelert) the weekend evenings. Jay the accomplished cordon bleu chef highly talented and artistic produced some amazing dinners once again. Three courses for £35. Is very good value. The small honesty bar is very well equipped with plenty of areas to relax and chat. Dinner was served by the lovely Jane who was efficient courtesy and friendly. After dinner drinks in the cosy lounge is a must. We met our other host Keith the second morning of our stay. He and Jay run Sygun Fawr between them (perfectly). Keith is the host with the most. So welcoming and caring. The resident pet dog Buster is entertaining, so friendly and intelligent… The hotel location is perfect for so many walks right from the doorstep. We walked Mynydd Sygun, Dina’s Emrys, Watkin Path, Craflwyn. No car needed.. It was another epic stay at Sygun Fawr Country House..

Food was scrumptious and operationally I liked their booking breakfast policy to ensure minimal food waste whilst providing a great menu. The house's communal rooms were cosy, comfortable and stylish and the staff really friendly. And I really appreciated not having a television in the bedrooms as it meant my son spent time chatting to me and playing chess in the evenings instead of being glued to the black mirror!
It isn't accessible for wheelchairs and whilst it isn't advertised as accessible, I always feel a little sad when I go somewhere and love it but know I can never take my daughter. But that's my issue, not Sygun Fawr Country House's.

The journey is the destination. Travelling is always an encounter with new cultures, new people and new habits. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you: Thank you for your warmth, openness and welcoming atmosphere. Through these encounters, you get to know a country with different eyes and from a different perspective. The accommodation and, above all, the morning ritual of the outstanding breakfast combined with the warmth of the people made our arrival feel like home. Thank you very much and we will see you again in the cycle of our time. Suse and Frank

Sygun Fawr Country House is a true gem. It's beautifully situated in the stunning Snowdonia National Park and boasts a lovely garden with several peaceful sitting areas. The road leading to the house is quite narrow, so drive carefully—but once your car is parked, it's an easy walk to the village. The house itself is very old but exceptionally well-maintained. The rooms are cosy and comfortable, with plenty of information available both in the rooms and the common areas. The owners are very friendly and incredibly helpful. We originally planned to stay for 2 nights, but ended up extending to 4—it was that good!
We loved everything.

everything, location, facility, service and the best are the hosts! we feel welcomed home from the moment we entered! we love the freshly prepared breakfast to start the day very much! you can order packed lunch and dinner too. so good that we know we have home cooked dinner waiting for us after a long day climbing the mountain! the lounge is so relaxing to stay and chill, I found particularly soothing in the raining night sitting there reading. the location is perfect for exploring snowdonia area and hiking to snowdon. walking distance through lovely footpath to town centre. Welsh highland train can take you to coast town with scenery view for a day trip. about 5km away (beautiful footpath) to the starting point of Watkin path for snowdon, you could also take bus when return. we did not need to drive at all in our 3 night stay. totally enjoyed our stay, wish we could stay longer!

This was our second time staying at Sygun Fawr, and just as perfect as the first! The location is stunning, 15 mins walk from Beddgelert and 30 mins from Llyn Dinas where we enjoyed lake swimming. The team are fantastic, making us super welcome and even having a bottle of Prosecco in our room on arrival to celebrate our anniversary :) The hotel itself is gorgeous - our bedroom looked out onto the mountains, and the garden is the perfect place to sit with a book, or stargaze at night. We also loved the honesty bar for chilling in the evening!

Perfect location, just outside the village of Beddgelert. The staff are excellent, friendly and they serve a really good breakfast, with lots of choices. We had a room looking towards the mountains, the view was stunning. The room was warm and exceptionally clean and was made up daily. We will definitely return.
During our 3 night, there was a problem with Internet access. The recent storm had caused quite a few problems with trees and telephone lines. On one of our trips out we went to the nearby village of Portmerion. On route we saw first hand trees down and lines dangling on the ground.
