We visited 7 years ago, and even with new owners, the hotel is still as good. Breakfast was great, with good portions. We had one evening meal, which was excellent, and the little bar and conservatory were a lovely place to relax and have a drink. Keith and Michaela were really friendly hosts, and we had some good laughs with them. Especially when they randomly popped up in some of our photos... The location is idyllic, with majestic views, and would 100% recommend this for a short break. There are some lovely eating places nearby and lots to do. You will need a car. Also, Buster, the family dog, is a superstar... Enjoy!!
There is nothing to dislike.

End of May three night stay. Our second visit to Sygun Fawr. A warm welcome from Jess & Michaela who escorted us to room two. A spacious room with views across to Dinas Emrys and Mynydd Sygun. Tea coffee facilities and a pleasant bathroom (shower). The room was exceptionally clean and maintained daily. Breakfast served daily in the conservatory overlooking the egardens. You order breakfast by way of a menu the day before.. A vast choice of either continental or more substantial meals. Served between 0800-0930hrs. Dinner in Sygun Fawr is served in the comfort of the dining room Monday to Thursday (giving guests the opportunity to venture into nearby Beddgelert) the weekend evenings. Jay the accomplished cordon bleu chef highly talented and artistic produced some amazing dinners once again. Three courses for £35. Is very good value. The small honesty bar is very well equipped with plenty of areas to relax and chat. Dinner was served by the lovely Jane who was efficient courtesy and friendly. After dinner drinks in the cosy lounge is a must. We met our other host Keith the second morning of our stay. He and Jay run Sygun Fawr between them (perfectly). Keith is the host with the most. So welcoming and caring. The resident pet dog Buster is entertaining, so friendly and intelligent… The hotel location is perfect for so many walks right from the doorstep. We walked Mynydd Sygun, Dina’s Emrys, Watkin Path, Craflwyn. No car needed.. It was another epic stay at Sygun Fawr Country House..

The journey is the destination. Travelling is always an encounter with new cultures, new people and new habits. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you: Thank you for your warmth, openness and welcoming atmosphere. Through these encounters, you get to know a country with different eyes and from a different perspective. The accommodation and, above all, the morning ritual of the outstanding breakfast combined with the warmth of the people made our arrival feel like home. Thank you very much and we will see you again in the cycle of our time. Suse and Frank

Sygun Fawr Country House is a true gem. It's beautifully situated in the stunning Snowdonia National Park and boasts a lovely garden with several peaceful sitting areas. The road leading to the house is quite narrow, so drive carefully—but once your car is parked, it's an easy walk to the village. The house itself is very old but exceptionally well-maintained. The rooms are cosy and comfortable, with plenty of information available both in the rooms and the common areas. The owners are very friendly and incredibly helpful. We originally planned to stay for 2 nights, but ended up extending to 4—it was that good!
We loved everything.

everything, location, facility, service and the best are the hosts! we feel welcomed home from the moment we entered! we love the freshly prepared breakfast to start the day very much! you can order packed lunch and dinner too. so good that we know we have home cooked dinner waiting for us after a long day climbing the mountain! the lounge is so relaxing to stay and chill, I found particularly soothing in the raining night sitting there reading. the location is perfect for exploring snowdonia area and hiking to snowdon. walking distance through lovely footpath to town centre. Welsh highland train can take you to coast town with scenery view for a day trip. about 5km away (beautiful footpath) to the starting point of Watkin path for snowdon, you could also take bus when return. we did not need to drive at all in our 3 night stay. totally enjoyed our stay, wish we could stay longer!

Perfect location, just outside the village of Beddgelert. The staff are excellent, friendly and they serve a really good breakfast, with lots of choices. We had a room looking towards the mountains, the view was stunning. The room was warm and exceptionally clean and was made up daily. We will definitely return.
During our 3 night, there was a problem with Internet access. The recent storm had caused quite a few problems with trees and telephone lines. On one of our trips out we went to the nearby village of Portmerion. On route we saw first hand trees down and lines dangling on the ground.

We loved everything about Sygun Fawr! The communal area and honesty bar were great additions, making it a perfect stay for a group as it made meeting easy. We even watched some of the Euros in the lounge on comfy sofas. The breakfast was delicious too! Unfortunately we couldn't make breakfast the first morning as we all had an early running race. But the staff were kind enough to arrange a little packed breakfast for us to take.
Honestly, Sygun Fawr was perfect and we would love to come back soon! The only potential downside is the walk to the main village - the drive up to the cottage is quite steep, so if you are someone who struggles with going up or down a steep hill, this could cause a bit of an issue. But other than that, honestly we liked everything!

Our second time staying, both times the house was very clean and breakfast was perfect with plenty of choice. The location is great for hikes and walks into town, the communal areas feel very homely and great for relaxing at the end of the day. The house has a beautiful front garden which is perfect for when the rain eventually stops!
Our room only had a bath with a very low bath shower attachment. Although the water pressure and temperature was great, not being able to stand up for a shower made it difficult to feel fresh after washing. We've stayed in other rooms previously which had a full shower which we preferred.

I can’t recommend Sygun Fawr Country House highly enough! Amazing location surrounded by the Welsh hills, 15-minutes walk from Beddgelert town. The house itself is beautiful, with cosy and very comfortable bedroom (we slept amazingly!), lovely shared lounge and ‘honesty bar’, and gorgeous garden with stunning views. Keith and the rest of the team were super welcoming and really helpful recommending restaurants and walks/activities nearby (including lending me a backpack as I forgot mine!) We were on our “mini moon” and were even surprised with a bottle of Prosecco at dinner - a perfect experience all round!

Firstly a huge thank you to our hosts Keith front of house, Jay chef and of course Buster providing the entertainment. Your hospitality and service was the very best ever. Your home is absolutely stunning.Home from home. Keith from SA Jay from US and Buster from England you have a wonderful collection of art. 22 acres of beautiful gardens on the side of Sygun Mountain. What a backdrop! The bedrooms are so comfortable, clean and well maintained. Tea/coffee biscuits… The so cosy lounge with log burner. An amazing breakfast selection in the Conservatory breakfast room and the amazing 3 course dinner (for £35) in the dining room. A good selection of wines/beers/spirits in the honest bar with darts and cards available. A lovely chess board in one other cosy seating area. For walking Sygun Country House is ideally located for some stunning walks. 15 mins into picturesque Beddgelert. Llyn Dinas, Dinas Emrys Sygun mountain circular walk. Moel Hebog and Yr Wyddfa (via the Watkins Path) all from the hotel front door..
