The staff were really friendly and helpful. One of our party has severe food allergies, the hotel took them seriously, and following a talk with the chef, he was able to enjoy his first meal out in quite some time. Breakfast was really good, and set out in a clear and logical way. We enjoy playing games as a family (all adults), and the lounge bar was ideal for this, with good sized tables for cards and board games. The variety of drinks available suited everyone, including non alcoholics. Bedrooms were comfortable and nicely decorated. The location was great for walks around the pretty harbour, travelling to zip world, Snowdon and Beddgelert. It is also close to Criccieth and Harlech castles. We did fancy a trip on the Ffestiniog railway, but hadn't pre booked. In June it was fully booked. The Car park is quite small, but there was enough space. We would be happy to stay here again

The weather!

The breakfast and evening meal were both delicious, excellent service and staff were all helpful and friendly. Our room was tucked away and very quiet, with streaming services on the TV, excellent facilities in the room, there was nothing we needed that it didn't have. Really nice stay, would definitely visit again. We particularly liked the private car park at the back of the hotel where we could park our van and leave the bikes, as the doors were locked in the evening we felt secure and it had easy access to our room so was handy for loading and unloading.

There wasn't anything to dislike about the place.

It was a pleasure to stay at the Royal Sportsman. I have stayed before and always given favourable reviews. I was particularly pleased with the help I had in 2021 when I had a health issue and the reception staff were very helpful. There is a very nice atmosphere and the interior of the hotel is nice. Ditto my room, ditto breakfast. My very solid recommendation if you stay in Porthmadog, this hotel. The best local attraction is Portmeirion of Prisoner fame. Best restaurant, the Glaslyn Tandoori. Great walking around Beddgelert.

Happy with my entire stay

We actually booked a standard room. This room was situated on the ground floor of an annexe next to the private car park. The room had been renovated recently as you could still notice the smell of paint. The standard bed was really small and the room was quite dark with only a small window opening on the corridor. With £25 per night extra, they managed to provide us with a nicer room with a king size bed on the first floor. The staff were very helpful with this. Good choice for breakfast.

A bit expensive in relation to the standard of the room

The Hotel and staff are wonderful. Car parking available. Interior of the Hotel is really really nice. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Meals and breakfast faultless. The staff we saw were friendly and more than happy to help. Hotel is in an ideal location for Ffestiniog railway, Port Merion, Pwllheli and many more place's. We would highly recommend if you are able to book at this Hotel.. don't hesitate.....Do it.

Having to leave 😕

We stayed here as a family group of 12 and not one person had a bad word to say about our stay! Communication was excellent right from the start and when we arrived we were given a warm welcome on reception. Rooms were large and bright and very comfortable. Also very clean. Breakfast was really nice with a great choice of menu and the service was lovely! We had evening meal here both nights and it was very very good food, also the service again was perfect, the restaurant manager was so attentive to us all and made sure the children were looked after too! Nice large and well stocked bar, this place had everything we needed. Would not hesitate to come back.

Nothing.

Food was brilliant - excellent quality, tasty and decent portions - and my wife was trained as a chef so if she says it was good, it was. Only gripe was the bed - too soft for me - I like a firm bed but it was only 2 nights, so not too bad really. The staff were all great, Dominic, Storm and Amber were cheerful and knowledgeable about the local area. All in all a great two days.

Staying at this hotel was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable, truly second to none. The breakfast and dinner were nothing short of culinary masterpieces, leaving us eagerly anticipating each meal. And the maitre d’—what a gem! (Didn't get his name sorry), his attention to detail and warm hospitality made our dining experiences even more special. This hotel has set a new standard for excellence in my book! Will definitely be staying here next time I am in Porthmadog.

Central position and a decent base from which to travel. Breakfast was very good ( lots of choice and good quality) and the dining room was pleasant. Good that it had a car park and EV chargers. The room was clean and fairly comfortable. We liked the Eco Housekeeping option which meant that someone checked our room daily but only did what was necessary ( emptying bins, replenishing tea/coffee/toilet roll) It was an unobtrusive, efficient service.

We stayed three nights and had a standard double in the ‘courtyard’, which was a small room with a small double bed in an outhouse type building. If there were a next time, we would choose a bigger bed in a bigger room in the actual hotel. However, for a one night budget-stay the standard doubles are nice enough.

Everything was great, Nice beer garden patio, needed an umbrella or 2, as its a sunny spot and tables needed a wipe,from seagull splatter. Nice to sit outside with a cool drink maybe could do with some new furniture and pot plants, and drinks menus would encourage more business in this nice sunny spot.
