The gentleman at reception was personable with a warm welcome. Took us to the elevator and showed us how to use it. My single room was fine. It was quiet, with room to work laptop at desk, sit and watch TV. Bed was fine. Slept well but duvet very thick and hot. Breakfast was self service and/or cooked to order for various diets. It was excellent and plenty. Restaurant staff at breakfast were very extremely friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Parking at front or rear was no problem. Always space.

Room was very hot but window was locked. This was remedied very quickly when I asked to have it unlocked. The ensuite was very small. I think the shower cubicle was the smallest size available and very unsuitable for my years. I only used once over 3 days stay. Loo seat fell off second day but fixed on the second time of asking.

From start to finish, our stay was lovely. It's a wonderful location and the view from our room across the water was the perfect start/end to the day. Every member of the team there was warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble; we immediately felt at home and relaxed.

We didn't address this with the hotel at the time so it's a little unfair to bring it up here, but the only thing that could be improved upon was the shower in our room - 28. The flow was very low and the temperature kept changing from momentarily scalding to cold. We should have mentioned it to the hotel at the time to give them the opportunity to recolve it but, in all honesty, we were having a lovely time and didn't want to spoil it.

We stayed for one night in a twin room (26) located at the back of the hotel (we didn't feel the need to pay for a view that we'd hardly see). The room had everything we needed, including a luggage rack, two chairs, and tea/coffee making facilities. The room, bathroom and bed linen were all very clean. The beds were very comfortable and our room was quiet. The hotel has a lift, making it easy to get luggage to higher floors. Breakfast was the standard fare and very nice. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The hotel is centrally located with easy access to local shops and a pub, and a short walk to the beach.

Not a big deal, but the stairs could do with a detailed vacuum in the corners.

The Breakfast room was well maintained with a great choice of both food / drinks - hot and cold. I require special items - soya milk, herbal teas - both of which were supplied with a smile. Everyone was very helpful, And staff remained polite and "smiley" even when the Breakfast Room was busy. Location was perfect for walking to the beach and other facilities in Criccieth. Also easy access to roads to other resorts.

My room was on the second floor and some noise from rooms either above or next door did impact late at night. Perhaps the curtain runners in rooms could be made "quieter" - again impacted a bit late at night. Mentioned to the Hotel Manager that the bed-side light didn't work. The hotel lift - quite old - made me a bit nervous. BUT there was nothing that I didn't really like.

Room was as photos - twin set up, wardrobe, 3 small (bedside table sized) units too and dresser table with mirror, Shower only - knew some rooms showers only, some shower over bath, per photos - all clear and no problems. One straight backed chair by dressing table/desk and two tub chairs in the window which was nice as there was a lovely view from the room - could see the bay/the sea. Great breakfast each day. Lovely dinner there one evening too. Kettle, tea and coffee in room - could ask at reception for more when needed. Staff were really nice, friendly, helpful, really great team - thanks all!

Cleanliness could be improved. Bathroom suite was clean but some dust/dirt along a low box/shelf (over pipes probably) and around bin - clearly there - easy to see and should've been cleaned... Sheets/towels all clean and fresh and room generally ok - it's older building and by the sea so...

We arrived after a long drive. Everything was ready, reception were friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The room was fine and exactly what we wanted. Our overall impression of the Hotel was it was what we expected. We visited in February, so unable to comment on what it would be like in the busy summer season, but given our experience we would expect no problems for people. The breakfast was really good with a good variety of alternatives. It certainly set us up for the day. The evening meal was also very good and freshly cooked. As for the location, it really couldn't have been better for us, it is also near to the railway, a 5 minute walk to the beach and town centre.

We found the room a little cool on arrival but it was February and once we had worked out how to turn on the heating we were fine. We enquired about the hotel pet policy and were told they don't allow dogs.

The location of the hotel was great. Not to far to walk into Criccieth. Literally down the hill. We had a lovely view from our room of the castle on the hill. We did have the apartment, which had all we needed to enjoy our stay. The front desk staff member, when we arrived, was really friendly and welcoming. She was Was very helpful in providing us with information of the area and facilities. We did have breakfast included in our stay and would say this was also lovely.. food was nice and facilities clean. Would definitely come again.

A very clean and comfortable hotel with very friendly staff. All of the staff were very welcoming and helpful. There is a really nice vibe to the Lion Hotel and you immediately feel at home here. The hotel is in a great location just off the high street and only a 15 minute walk to Criccieth Castle. It’s also very quiet and has a nice area by the reception to relax in. The hotel provided gluten free options for me and the food was nicely cooked. All in all, a perfect place for the solo traveler and couples. Thank you so much for making my stay so comfortable.

The single rooms were a little on the small size but no real complaints. The security light in the ceiling needs turning off as it is a distraction when trying to sleep. The light in the ceiling outside Room 8 needs fixing as it doesn’t always come on and makes a noise.

Great location and free onsite parking. Room very spacious with the added bonus of a bath. We were booked in for Saturday 7 December but couldn’t travel due to storm Darragh. Staff were very kind and let us move our booking to the Sunday with no quibble and we really appreciated that. Room was very clean and comfortable. It was nice to sit in the bar area with a drink in the evening playing cards. Breakfast was lovely, waiting on staff very polite and friendly. Good selection of food, sausages were good quality. Really enjoyed the stay and feel it offered excellent value for money. Special thank you to Jess on reception, very friendly and helpful.

The only constructive criticism I have is that although the room was lovely and warm when we arrived, we were unable to turn down or turn off one of the radiators so it was a bit too warm for trying to get to sleep. We don’t normally sleep with the heating on so it was a bit uncomfortable. Probably just a new thermostat required, room 19

Quaint Irish pub feel, the staff were pleasant and welcoming. The room was reasonably sized and comfortable. Breakfast was great and tasty. The location was central and the township surprisingly arty and cafe rich. Terrific !

I’m not a fan of deep baths with integrated showers, they are potential death traps for people over the age of 20. I personally think just get rid of the baths and install good shower areas. But really I’m only adding this because you asked - it’s not a deal breaker.
