The bedroom, which had a lovely sea view had been nicely decorated and updated, and was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was large, and the shower good. The bed was comfortable and the room very quiet for sleeping at night, with no noise except the sea. All the Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We booked with Breakfast and Evening Meal, and the meals were better than our expectation, with good choices and generous portions, even for my Husband who does not eat meat. The swimming pool was very clean and with a nice temperature. I didn't use the Gym, but it was quite well equipped, and everything looked as though it was maintained well. We had a lovely stay, and the Hotel looked as though it was run by people who cared about it, and about their Guests.

The only thing I could fault was the "Musak" in social and dining areas, which seemed to have been chosen by a country and Western lover!

This hotel was fabulous, the location is superb with the bonus of onsite parking. The hotel has a quaint charm of a bygone era and the staff have the same qualities. Old Fashioned some may think but the quality of the service is commendable. From entering the hotel everything was exceptional, the receptionist was very amenable and accommodating. The room was superbly clean and the location at the front facing side of the hotel was a dream, I would have loved a balcony room had our stay been more than one night. We asked if we could have some guests into the hotel for dinner, staying in another hotel it was their first visit to Devon, again for Redcliffe this was not an issue whatsoever. The three course meal in the dining room had a superb menu with something for everyone and was prepared and presented to a high standard. Having worked in a large hotel previously, I totally appreciate they had a lot going on the night we stayed, a large group for a significant Birthday Party and a ticketed function of a "silent" disco. This in no way detracted from the comprehensive standard of service we received in the restaurant. The staff who were waiting table (Karen and Naomi) were so welcoming, friendly and made us feel like valued guests, an intrinsic quality which made for a very relaxing, enjoyable meal. It is certainly on my radar the next time we do a theatre trip in Torquay! Thank you all so very much Sue and Phil Johns Now re resident in Plymouth not Bulgaria!

It was a shame we had to leave after the one night, I would have loved to stay for the weekend but had other commitments.

The hotel was really lovely in an ideal situation, on the sea front of Paignton. The room was plenty big enough with everything we needed. The bathroom was perfect. Lovely shampoo, shower gel,body lotion and soap provided. All the staff we met were really friendly and professional. The bar area was good with entertainment on the Monday night which was very good. The dining room was very pleasant and the food was excellent 👌🏼 😋 well cooked devious meals served with a smile. The swimming pool was a good size too for a relaxing spa treat.

Unfortunately the steam room didn't seam steamy on two days but was working the next day. It was disappointing that the hot tub couldn't have the bubbles on due to no life guard.

Room was brilliant as had a view of the promenade and the bed and pillow was so so comfortable as would loved to have known the make of bed and bought one for my/ourselves at home so please don't change them. Staff were also brilliant , so easy to talk to and very helpful and informative as they became friends after just a few days stay. Reception staff were also easy to get on with, smiley and cheerful and very informative as to events. Food was lovely nothing to much trouble, table always laid out beautifully and we had the same one at each meal which was nice.

A few small potholes in the drive in to the hotel but just have to manoeuvre around them.

Location was amazing, right on the beach. Breakfast was great, lots of choice, friendly staff and fantastic views of the bay. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Great facilities with an indoor and outdoor pool, steam room and gym. Plenty of parking. Extremely good value for money. Hotel is dated, but that gives it a charm, memories of a seaside hotel in days gone by.

Toiletries were minimal, soap and shampoo only. Hairdryer was out of the arc, but functional. Extractor fan in bathroom was extremely noisy.

They staff are a credit to the hotel , nothing was too much trouble. For them, all of our group commented, as never been anywhere where that the staff were happy to be there and make our stay specially. Craig in the bar, although he had a cold and was suffering. He was happy smiling , informative about the area . Would definitely stay there again .

There were areas that were only accessable via stairs, which for one of our group was difficult. And accesses by mobility scooter was a trip right around the hotel and through a rear door. But I understand a revamp will be undertaken soon , I hope it's addressed then

Our room was very comfortable, nicely decorated, good tea and coffee making facilities and nice and warm especially as it was cold outside. The shower was nice and hot and the shower unit was easy to use.. Had the full English breakfast which was delicious. The view from our room was lovely and overlooked gardens and glimpses of the sea and Paignton pier. The hotel itself was full of character and an interesting history. The uninterrupted view out to sea from the breakfast room was amazing. What made this hotel special were the staff. Every member of staff were welcoming. We felt like we were being greeted by old friends rather than strangers. They were kind and helpful and made our stay very special.

This is our second visit after spending one night here in 2023. Seafront view and perfect location for the town. Not too close or too far for walking. Having a pool, steam room and jacuzzi were a massive bonus. There is also a gym and games room which we didn't use. Booked a standard double room and got a triple which was huge. The bathroom was huge with the added bonus of a bath. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice and the dining room overlooks the terrace and the sea 😍 The hotel has a bar with reasonably priced drinks and we had a bar meal which was beautiful. There is a tunnel from the bar area which takes you directly to some private steps down to the beach. Bonus when carrying beach items. While we were here there was a Vinyl only event playing mowtown music. The dance room was full and the atmosphere was amazing! This hotel is dated in style but the decor has been kept in top condition and is a busy popular hotel for all ages.

Food was excellent and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Hotel is ideally placed on the sea front and the sea views from the dining rooms and terrace area were amazing.

My room (the first one, I had to move on day 4 due to a problem) was much what you'd expect as a single traveller, unless you are prepared to pay over the odds. I found it too hot and couldn't get it cool enough to sleep comfortably and we weren't in a heat wave! I could't for safety open the window as wide as I normally would. Also I found the bathroom stifling as the heated towel rail was on full permanently. When the problem with the first room arose it was sorted promptly with no fuss and the new room was really nice, a lovely upgrade.

The first room we was put in was not the greatest had a strange smell and was very dated. At about midnight used the toilet and the flush did not stop and the pipes didn’t stop making noises the whole corridor would have heard this also. The night porter, who was very friendly rapidly come up to look at the issue but had to call the manager to come in who was there within 5 minutes considering the time of night it was. He resolved the issue and moved us to the most beautiful room (room 129) he was very efficient and on it. Breakfast was lovely and the breakfast staff were very kind and welcoming also. Even though we had issues on arrival the way the situation was handled we would definitely come again!
