It was very clean and modern and warm .the staff were attentive and even left us a packed bacon roll and orange juice as we were too early leaving before breakfast .

Unfortunately we must have had room on top of the kitchen so there was white noise from an extraction system or something causing a throbbing noise which was distracting for sleep but I am very sound sensitive . The menu was interesting but we really just wanted a bar meal so ate at another pub in the next village sadly where a meal cost under £15 . This wasn’t possible at the crown and anchor. The environment was lovely however the crown and anchor .

Food was fabulous. Rooms were clean and really well decorated. Really lovely setting and Staff were brilliant

No fault of the Hotel at all but we stayed on the hottest day of the year so far. They did provide us with a fan but it was still very hot it in the room. Air-con would have been fabulous but I understand we don't get that much heat in this Country to warrant the expense so just be prepared to take your own fan as an extra boost if you go in exceptionally hot weather !

What a great stay we have had at the Crown and Anchor! The pub itself is lovely - comfortable and relaxing, it has a really nice feel with no need to posh up after a busy day sightseeing (although you could, if you liked!). The rooms were spacious, well equipped and most importantly- quiet! Even on a busy Saturday night it was peaceful in my room and I dozed off with the window open long before closing time. They even had a fan in the room - so thoughtful at 30 degrees and sweltering. We took my classic car, and the staff were really accommodating to ensure we had a parking space. The food is fantastic. We had dinner both nights as well as breakfast and it was absolutely top notch - the chefs here can really whip up a gorgeous meal. The gnocchi was the best I’ve ever had. A perfect break and I’d go back tomorrow. Thanks!

The lovely clean pub and room.

12.5 percent optional service charge on the already expensive food. Tips are not a thing in the UK and are entirely the choice of the customer to add on. Not up to the customer to feel embarrassed by asking for it to be removed. It's a sneaky way of getting a tip and increasing the cost of a meal by an extortionate percentage. It meant the steak instead of £35 went up to £40. I did tip the serving staff, but when you're on a budget and are not in an industry that gets tipped it doesn't seem right.

The Crown and Anchor is off the beaten path and a wonderful place to get away. We drove many narrow, winding roads to find it (part of the adventure for us!). Our room was larger than we expected, beautifully decorated, and comfortable, with a king-sized bed and attached bathroom. We enjoyed lunch in the Crown's pub on the day we arrived, and the breakfast the next morning was quite good. We also enjoyed driving to nearby Hungerford for a walk along the canal and dinner at the Amore Italian restaurant.

Location was in a lovely little village, easy to find and easier still to park. Our room was very comfortable with high quality linen etc. The management had booked us in for evening meal which was lucky as there was nowhere else we could eat locally. The bars were charming, but food rather pricey for what we had. Breakfast was excellent. The toiletries were wonderful.

There was nowhere to hang our clothes in the bedroom.

Staff were fantastic - friendly, attentive and efficient. Rooms were very well appointed, comfortable and clean. The food was perfectly cooked, well presented and served in comfortable and tastefully decorated surroundings. I am so pleased that I came across the Crown and Anchor and will certainly be back if I am ever in the area again

We stayed for one night with our 2 dogs on our way for a short break in Newquay . We was warmly welcomed and taken to our adorable room which was decorated so cozy and homely . The location is picture postcard thatched houses with old red phone box. We took our dogs off for a rural hike that wore them out nicely for our dinner booked later. The restaurant with open kitchen serves the best steak ive ever had cooked to perfection with really good friendly service so impressed! The bed with crispy white linen and pillows was large and very comfortable which is key for us as hubby can suffer a bit with his back. We were confident the breakfast would be good and it was, so enjoyed our stay and will be back in the future.

There was nothing we didnt like.

Good location with plenty of parking. The hotel was exceptionally clean throughout and obviously recently re-painted. The restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Comfortable bed and good quality bedding led to a good night's sleep.

No wardrobe, hanging space or chest of drawers. Not a problem for us as we were only staying one night and did not mind living out of the case but this would be a problem for us if we were staying longer.

The setting was absolutely lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful. The menus were a little limited but the food was superb. The room was cosy and comfortable.

The pub was a little more modern inside than I had expected from a village pub, but the décor was good and everything was very clean and comfortable. Really not sure why the room had nowhere to hang any clothes other than a hook behind the door
