The accomodation ( suite ) was amazing. Very comfy bed. Lovely decor. Location was excellant. Love the outdoor seating..Food was good.
Hated all the dogs in the restuarant. Could make a small part of restuarant just for owners and their dogs but there was dogs barking everywhere. We had one next to our table and everytime another dog barked or went passed it went crazy. Also there was another one barking when the entertainment started. It got so bad the dogs owner took it outside. It was a bit much. It was a shame as food was good but spoiled by the dogs. We counted seven dogs in. I am afraid I would think twice as regards to eating in your restuarant.

Room was spacious, bed very comfortable, excellent blinds and curtains. Bathroom well appointed and excellent shower, Highland Soap Company complimentary toiletries were lovely. Breakfast day 2 was excellent; eggs royal and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon were both delicious. Coffee excellent from the Americano machine. All the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Bedroom had a hairdryer but the only mirrors were in the bathroom. The bed on one side prevented access to the usb plug, the bedside cabinet was in front of them on the other side. Comfortable armchair but the arms were grubby. Only 2 clothes hangers on the stand. Fire surround and hearth were still in place but the hearth presented a trip hazard. Front door was heavy and handle stiff one morning we couldn’t open it at all. Breakfast Fruit Sundae on day one was described as ‘layers of oats, yogurt and fresh fruit’, there was a teaspoon of oats in the base and dessert spoon on the top, the yogurt and fruit were delicious but we had to add extra granola from the cereal table to make a meal enough to sustain us till lunchtime.

I stayed for 2 nights at McKays and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The hotel is centrally located, just a 3-minute walk from the railway station—extremely convenient! I was in a single attic room which was spotless, with clean and well-equipped bathroom facilities. Everything in the room was in great condition and well-maintained. The staff were warm, friendly, and always helpful—truly added to the charm of the place. McKays also has a large, vibrant restaurant that seats around 100 people and serves excellent dinners along with a good selection of drinks. It appears to be the happening spot in Pitlochry! Definitely value for money, and I’d gladly stay here again. Highly recommended!
While breakfast was good, I would have appreciated a slightly more elaborate spread. Also, the Wi-Fi in the attic rooms could be improved—it was a bit slow at times. That said, these are very minor points in what was overall a fantastic experience.

The room was clean with beautiful large sash windows & flowers outside. Tea & coffee in the room & small hanger for clothes. TBH we didn’t need anymore than that. Bed really comfortable. Right in the centre. The pub had outdoor seating, lovely inside & was quaint. Breakfast was really good with plenty of options, tea, coffee & juices. We needed a good breakfast after being at a wedding the day before lol. Dog friendly which I love. Staff were all lovely & friendly. Parking could be a problem when busy.
Everything was great but due to hot weather the room could have done with a fan as very hot. Not really a negative as it was an exceptional day.

We visited this hotel last year and had such a wonderful experience that we decided to return again this year. Overall, it's still a lovely place to stay—but what truly stood out this time was the exceptional service we received from a staff member named Adel. When we arrived, we found that the room we were given was unfortunately too small for my needs due to my disability. I went down to reception to see if anything could be done, and Adel greeted me with such kindness and understanding. He didn’t ask any intrusive questions or make me feel uncomfortable—he simply wanted to help however he could. While I was speaking with him, another guest came over to complain quite strongly about the Wi-Fi. Adel remained calm, respectful, and professional throughout, calmly explaining what he could do to assist them while never losing his polite manner. Adel then personally took us to a different room, which was a bit larger and made a big difference for me. I later explained the reason behind the request, and again, there was no judgment or unnecessary conversation—just pure compassion and willingness to support. It’s rare to come across someone in hospitality who genuinely cares and goes above and beyond without hesitation. Adel made our stay more comfortable and stress-free, and for that, we’re truly grateful. We’ll definitely return again—and hope to see Adel still working there. He’s a real asset to the hotel.

Location, staff very friendly, breakfast excellent, one of the best Scottish Breakfasts we’ve had. Decided to have dinner there the night before too and it was excellent too, really couldn’t fault it or the service. Room & bathroom clean, modern, we had a fan in the room which was needed as it was very warm.
Room 210 - curtains not fit for purpose as not great fitting, thin and basically let lots of light in from very early morning (5am!) A blind would be better, or thicker, fuller curtains might help. Mentioned at check out & they said they will look at it.

Location perfect. Very pet friendly! Food was great, especially the breakfast included in your stay. Enjoyed the cocktails and the outside seating area too!
One particular lady who was waiting tables (assuming in a senior position as she was wearing a shirt) had an unpleasant manner towards other staff and was visibly grumpy in front of customers. This was off putting and a shame as all other staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Perhaps she was stressed or short staffed but I feel these issues should not be portrayed to customer.

My sister and I stayed at McKays for a week. We couldn’t fault this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfy and the staff were amazing. Hardworking, friendly and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was so good we ate in the hotel restaurant every day despite several restaurants nearby. They also have live entertainment every weekend. I really can’t praise this hotel enough.
There is absolutely nothing I can think of to dislike about this property

Location ideal, staff extremely pleasant & helpful, good menu choice & particularly liked the door hanger - "sleeping like a bairn" & "make my room bonnie" 😀 Would happily recommend McKays Hotel to friends & family & look forward to booking with McKays Hotel again in future.
We were initially booked into the Townhouse, 2nd floor, twin room but on arrival we were given the keys to Room 109 which had 2 beds pushed together with a chest of drawers placed to one side. As 2 single females, we would have preferred the beds apart with chest of drawers plus table lamp between the 2 beds for reading before sleep 😴 However we were happy to be staying in the main hotel & the above suggestion is only a personal preference, otherwise we were both very comfortable.

Excellent fresh cooked breakfast with coffee, juice, toast, yoghurts, fruit etc on an eat as much as you lie buffet service. Nice large room with super king and single bed when a twin room was requested. Very pleasant bar area for evening meals and we had a walk up and down the main street and this was the only bar / hotel we saw with people eating and drinking at 9.00PM
We had the loft room and the bathroom was functional but beyond tiny, you could just about fit 2 hands into the sink so having a wet shave was a bit of a challenge and the extractor did not work so you had to open the window in the roof to clear the room of steam after a shower Car park is small and we couldn't get a space when we arrived so parked across the way. but had to move the car by 8.30AM
