Clean, friendly staff, good food and a good bar. The room was massive, as was the bed and was clean. Had everything you need.

Breakfast buffet could maybe improve but wasn’t terrible

The hotel staff were all lovely people very professional yet very friendly. They helped me, they allowed me to leave luggage at reception. The receptionist Connor showed me a map recommended activities. The other receptionists were very attentive. The staff of the bar were very helpful in showing us menus and options for evening dining:either restaurant or bar. I adored the Saturday night entertainment: a singer, guests could dance. The entertainer communicated alot with his audience. There was privacy in the rooms, good sound proofing. I enjoyed the swimming pool, jacuzzi and especially the sauna. The breakfast was brilliant a buffet of all sorts of foods: cooked breakfast as well as cereals, yoghurt, fruit and viennoiseries. I liked the hotel and would like to return.

The hotel is an old traditional building which I like, I noticed that some redecoration is needed this didn't mean that I didn't enjoy staying there. For people who like everything to be very modern, it's not for them. I loved it.

Beautiful location. We've been to Pitlochry many times, stayed at various hotels there. The staff were helpful and friendly. Spring is a nice time of year for a long weekend away. We enjoyed lovely breakfasts and it's great that they cater for people with food intolerances. I usually have to ask for lactose free milk, and sadly most say they can't help. At the Hydro, I found 3 different milks I could have! Enjoyed cereal and tea/coffee. Buffet style breakfast was delicious. Staff kept checking everything was perfect. Also enjoyed our evening meals, good choice and good value. Wide selection of drinks at the bar in a relaxing atmosphere. Our room had a lovely view, was very clean and comfortable. Enjoyed using the leisure facilities. Car park nice and close and adequate spaces. Might take our dog with us next time.

Lovely big room and very spacious

We had a problem with the toilet as we couldn't identify a smell, I reported it the next day and the staff sent in the housemaid and that seemed to have done the trick. But the next night the smell was back, I went down to the desk and a member of staff came up and could smell it, she then said they would get it looked at, we left for the day but on return to the room all seemed fine till we opened the bathroom door and the smell was still there. On leaving today I reported it again. Hopefully they will get to the bottom of it, as it is a beautiful big room.

The dining room staff were very helpful and attentive. Nothing was too much of a problem. The bedroom was very spacious, and although very basic furnishings, it was warm and comfortable - all that we were looking for during our stay.

The overall decor of the hotel was a bit tired and in need of a general refurb. The flooring in the corridors was very uneven and creaky, making it difficult to walk on. I am aware that it's not meant to be a 'new build' condition, but the floors are quite awful. Carpets were also threadbare in parts with open joins. Lighting could do with general improving - it is currently neither 'period' or 'atmospheric'. It just has a 70's feel in the evening. Contrasting with during the day (without the lights) when the lounge looked far more inviting.

Excellent Service. All staff polite and helpful. Top marks to our waiter Connell and Laila who served us with courtesy and humour, even when I’d given the wrong room number on our first night’s dinner. Spacious room with crisp linens and towels. Excellent food except for last evening’s dinner. Entertainment on 2 nights had guests singing along. Had a few laughs at hotel reception. Definitely a family friendly hotel.

Dinner on our last night, didn’t meet previous standard of delicious food. Public areas weren’t particularly warm. Shower head was adequate but could be improved. Cheap loo roll is a false economy, but then if they keep disappearing with dubious guests maybe not?

A large hotel in Pitlochry boasting a restaurant and a swimming pool with a fitness/spa suite, which is very rare in the area or in Scotland in general. I took advantage of the swimming pool and the whirlpool which was a nice way to relax after a day of hiking in the Cairngorms. The restaurant serves decent and resonably priced food, although the portions could be a bit bigger. The car park adjacent to the hotel is huge and can easily accommodate all guests.

The lobby and the common areas were very busy despite my out-of-season visit. The sauna in the spa facility was closed indefinitely due to "not meeting today's regulations" and there was no indication of when it would get re-opened. This was disappointing, because I was looking forward to enjoying a sauna after a hard day. The room was incredibly small, to the point where it was difficult to move around. The location of the hotel is quite inconvenient, as it is on a hill high above Pitlochry's centre with nothing around the hotel.

The staff were so very kind and helpful. Our 15yr old was ill with a fever which resulted in us having to leave earlier than planned. The staff were really helpful during the time we were there helping us with everything they could. We couldn’t have asked for more. We were sorry to be leaving early but we needed to bring our boy home to look after him properly and be near our own medical facilities. The day before we left he was sick in the lobby and the staff on duty were so kind and cleaned up after him and didn’t even appear annoyed. I think that the staff should be commended for going above and beyond during our stay

I like the hotel it felt spacious and has character. The staff were well trained respectful, helpful and very efficient. The breakfast was very good . Unfortunately there was only one toaster working but this didn't create too many problems. the dinner was excellent and as were were booked at the theatre we were allocated an early time

As we had a car we didn't have a problem accessing the hotel but I spoke to two other guests who had been unable to book a taxi from the station and had to walk up the hill to the hotel. They hadn't realized how far up the hill it is situated. It would have been good to have had a shuttle bus to and from the theatre and the town and this may attract more guests.
