Room is super lovely! They decorated it for our anniv stay. Loved the design and huge tub

Only downside is this is not an onsen hotel. Unless you book the room with your own private rooftop onsen attached to the room, there is no shared/public onsen available. Was a bit misleading as from booking.com we thought there was a public one available

Beautiful rooms that are aesthetically pleasing, warm, inviting and very clean and tidy. In a good location near the station and plenty of places to eat

The check in time should be earlier especially if guests leave early. We left at 9.30am, the check in time is 4.30, it would be nice to get in early if guests have left hours before. It would be nice to get coffee at the restaurant

Clean, modern rooms with great amenities, free bottled water, great coffee. The beds are huge and very comfortable. A majority of the staff were very pleasant and helpful, except for one night clerk.

One night staffer wanted to charge for free water and didn’t speak a word of English. A view of the building next door from our 2nd floor room was a disappointment but not a deal killer. The color scheme of the interior is very dark, not what we prefer but I think they’re going for an ultra modern look.

We had a wonderful two-night stay at Hotel Zagakukan, located just a short walk from Hakone Station. The front desk staff very welcoming upon arrival and offered to store our bags while we explored the Hakone area. Upon returning, we were pleasantly surprised to find our bags waiting for us in our room. The room itself was incredibly spacious and comfortable, and had everything you could need during your stay! The highlight during our stay was the private rooftop open-air bath, which was a perfect way to unwind after long days on our feet. Overall, it was a fantastic place to stay, and we would highly recommend staying here!

Literally everything. The place was immaculate and just, a really luxurious place!

The particularly late check in time was a bit difficult but my wife and I made do while we waited for 5pm to come. Lots to do in Hakone in that time.

The hotel is lovely and has a luxurious feeling despite not being an internationally branded hotel. I like the open air bath attached to the room - amazing private onsen!

The check in time is rather late at 5pm but they were able to allow us to store our luggages so we went out exploring Hakone instead. For the open air bath at the roof, whilst it is good that the surrounding is walled up for total privacy allowing us to go bathe Japanese style but it would hv been nicer if there was a small window to view outside natural surroundings/Mt Fuji to enjoy the beauty of Hakone. The hotel experience wld be even better if they provided Japanese style dinner or breakfast in the room (didn't mind paying but not available).

- Very good location - 6 minutes from the train station and a 3 minute walk from bus stops - Very nice room! Big and comfortable. - They decorated the room for our honeymoon, which was nice :)

- The check-in is only at 5pm which is really late - No bathroom in the lobby

The room is spacious and there is an onsen in our room. Staff was helpful.

The only thing that was a bit mehhh was that We drove there and not knowing the parking is quite a bit of distance from the hotel (approx. 10mins walk uphill). We wanted to drop the luggage off at the hotel and like wise pick up the luggage when check out, meaning we will need to park in front of the hotel on the narrow street. But the neighbour next to the hotel seemed to be very crossed whenever we drove. When we needed to make a U turn and in the process the corner of our car was on an empty carpark lot belongs to another property, She was yelling at us at that point. If parking is a sensitive issue of this neighbourhood, may be the hotel should notify customers in advance.

The room was huge, clean and the shower was great, beds were comfy. The private onsen spa was relaxing and perfect and I think worth the price we paid as we stayed here at the end of our trip and it was nice to unwind in private.

The late 5pm check in was a bit annoying. We were quite tired so just found ourselves waiting in the lobby until we could go in our room. The late check in meant a later check out compared to other hotels, but we didn’t need to utilise that so it didn’t make up for it.

Pretty much everything: The rooftop onsen was amazing, the open air was such a nice contrast to the heat of the bath, especially at night before bed. Beds were extremely comfortable. the room was spacious, and the supplied robes and towels were high quality including the Yukatas(sorry if thats not the right name for them) The location was gorgeous, you cross a beautiful bridge to get to the hotel and surrounding greenery and town was beautiful, and an 8 minute walk from the station. The staff were lovely and friendly, and gave us the option of daily room cleaning, without extra charge. Also, a specific scenaio for me, when we left the hotel I forgot my rain jacket and the staff were very kind in helping arrange for it to be sent to the next hotel I was staying in.

That we sadly weren't able to try the restaurant attached to the hotel whilst we were there.
