Yuuko san the host was very hospitable and understanding. I felt welcome at all times during my stay. She even helped to shift our rental car away from potentially falling snow packs when we were out on the slopes. Her Ryokan rooms were really big and there was loads of space to unpack luggage. Housekeeping is done daily, we always have freshly made futons once we are back from the slopes. Shared bath in the basement is really big. The dry room and snowboard room storage in the basement is really big too. No fear of no storage space. In fact the size of this Ryokan facilities is bigger than most at the value it's being offered at. The location is conveniently located in between Happo one and the bus terminal. Within 10 min walk of a Lawson. This season they even had a food truck park just round the corner, loads of food options. Out front is able to fit 3 cars at the most. Do reserve a spot.

The pension provides free laundry (you have to get your own detergent) and the dryer is a plus. Yuko-san is very accommodating and she is able to converse well in English. It's a very cozy place in house Onsen and a very warm reception area to chill out after a long day of snowboarding. The pension is very close to the Hakuba Bus Station (walking distance) The road is properly maintained not an issue with large and heavy luggage (28 Inches) the pension provides basic yukata as well as tatami room.

To be honest nothing...I'm very satisfied with the pension and definitely will visit again!

Located diagonally opposite the up-market The Happo hotel, Ryokan Oomukou offers a perfect option for those looking for something a little more traditional, homely and budget-friendly. It's location in the center of town makes it hugely convenient whatever your plans, in easy walking distance of both the bus terminal and Nakayama slopes, and with Evergreen ski school pickup and the Goryu/Iimori bus stopping just opposite. The owner and staff at Ryokan Oomukou are extremely welcoming and friendly. The Japanese-style room I stayed in was simple but very comfortable. The shared bathroom and toilet facilities were always clean and tidy. The basement dry room was spacious and well-heated. The communal area was equipped with a shared fridge and microwave. The option of a western or Japanese-style breakfast is provided and this was always delicious.

Very comfortable and clean ryokan with friendly and warm owners. Heaters in the front desk area and in the rooms and an indoor onsen were super appreciated after a full day of skiing, especially cosy when it snowed so heavily on our second and third days. As mentioned in other reviews. The breakfast was awesome. We strongly recommend adding that on. For those here for the slopes, Oomukou Ryokan is ~10mins walk from the slopes and there are many rental shops along the way.

Small points which did not take away from our excellent impression of the place: -The door of our room (203) faced the main stairway and tended to swing wide open if not properly closed, anyone walking up could get a full view of the room and people/items in it if the door wasnt closed properly. -Hallways and bathrooms were not heated, going to the bathroom in the middle of the night can be chilly in the winter 🥶

- Exception staff: Yuko-san & team worked very hard every day to take care of all guests. - Exceptional spacious twin room with private bathroom, TV, heater for 2 of us during our winter stay. - Exceptional Japanese breakfast every morning. - Very good facilities: Onsen (1 time Japan onsen fee), vending machine, daily 4-6pm beer happy-hour; Free to use: 2 washing machines, dryer, water dispenser, cookies baked by Yuko-san & team. - Exceptional location: Walking distance to Happo bus terminal & Happo One ski resort.

Absolutely amazing Ryokan. Amazing hosts. Fantastic location super close to happo one, and the bus terminal. Walking distance to tons of restaurants and night life. Breakfast was amazing. Cant recommend enough. The onsite onsen, board/ski storage and dry storage for boots made my trip 10/10. We also booked a room with a toilet and shower but we used the onsen and included showers daily and the shared bathrooms were very clean. Unless you absolutely need privacy I would recommend a regular room. Cant say a single bad thing about this place!

Oomukou really made our stay in Hakuba an amazing experience! The warm and welcoming atmosphere at this place is unbelievable. Our japanese room was super cozy and spacious. The Japanese and the Western breakfast were excellent and gave us the perfect start of the day before skiing. The onsen facilities were great after a long skiing day, and we enjoyed them every afternoon followed by a cup of tea from the free amenities. The hospitality was second the none, and our host was really helpful with local recommendations and booking assistance. The location was perfect, a short walk to the Happo One ski lifts, several restaurants and the Rythm ski rental shop. We are happy to give Oomukou our best recommendations - do not hesitate to stay here! :-)

I really like the breakfast. There are both Japanese and Western options. The twin room is very spacious. You can open 2 suitcases and have plenty of space. The ski storage is large and separate from the shoe storage. The hotel may look old but it is clean. There is free filtered water and a free washing machine. I really like it.

I would like it if on check-out day you can leave your luggage until the evening. That would be great.

Wonderful Ryokan. Ran by lovely lady and (possibly) her family? Facilities are clean, rooms are a very good size, beds are comfortable, and it is very central to Happon-One ski hill, restaurants, shops, and bus stop to Nagano and other ski hills. Has a microwave and mini-fridge in the communal area, little onsen to relax the muscles after the slopes, and even some homemade snacks to go with your tea or coffee.

Very cosy room and welcoming host at this traditional Japanese place right in the heart of Hakuba. Delicious breakfast served fresh to my plate daily. The location is perfect with many restaurants and access to transport super close by.

Not having easy access to a shower or bath as both are on the basement level. Name on accommodation sign is different to Booking.com listing name, so was a bit confusing to find initially
