My partner and I had an excellent stay at La Rochelle Motel in Akaroa! From the moment we arrived, the friendly staff made us feel so welcome and even knew my name. They were incredibly accommodating, offering to look after our bags when we arrived early from the bus and again after we checked out, as we had the whole day before our 4pm bus. The owner even offered to get us to the bus stop if we were short on time, which was so thoughtful. The beds were very comfortable, and the free Wi-Fi was a great convenience. We loved the lovely balcony and all the facilities the room had to offer, including everything we needed for cooking. The location was perfect, close to the shops and attractions like mini-golf. The room was spotless, with great room service, and having Sky TV was a nice touch. Overall, my partner and I had a fantastic time, and we highly recommend La Rochelle Motel for anyone visiting Akaroa!

There are only about 9 or 10 units here ( which was nice) We had unit 7 upstairs. It was quite spacious with a lovely private outdoor patio facing a garden area. There was no breakfast / meals provided but the unit had self catering arrangements. La Rochelle was located at one end of Akaroa bay with a pub pretty nearby but most other cafes etc were a bit of a walk ( which we did a lot of as it was so beautiful there) .Highly recommend “ The Common” cafe…had both breakfasts and a lunch there. Fabulous and the staff there are great. Would recommend La Rochelle .

There was nothing we didn’t like but the fact that there is no restaurant there might be an issue for some people perhaps.

Clean, comfortable room. Adequate cooking facilities with enough cookware and utensils to prepare simple meals in our room. Loved the little balcony. It’s at the back of the hotel so very quiet. Enjoyed being surrounded by trees, shrubs, and plants. Loved listening to the babbling brook. Free, on-site parking.

The hotel is located just on the edge of the village so it’s a bit of a walk to the wharf and some of the stores and restaurants. It is however very close to the 4 Square Market.

Erica has put so much thought into each room. Everything we needed was provided including an amazing selection of teas, coffees etc. The kitchenette contents were amazing, everything we could ask for, and all presented clean and useful. The bed was extremely comfortable as was the bedding. The small terrace and garden were gorgeous. Lots of little details. The bathroom and shower were amazing. Great extractor fan and wall heater if required.

We received a friendly welcome on arrival and were provided with all the relevant information regarding our stay. We asked for restaurant recommendations and were not disappointed with the dinner we had at the Madeira Hotel. Our room was very clean, and the kitchen was well equipped.

Our room got very little natural light so we had to have the lights on at all times. The bathroom fan did not seem to be very effective. My partner and I both had issues with the WiFi during our stay - it would freeze sometimes or not let us run the apps we wanted to run. A second armchair would have been good.

The motel is extremely well maintained and obviously run with love and care. Our room was warm and welcoming. The heater and electric blankets were great, as we stayed in the middle of winter and it was cold outside. The room was simple and classy and had everything we needed. The bed was comfy and it was very clean. The hosts were friendly and made us feel welcome and cared for. The motel is at the end of the town centre street, very easy walking to the restaurants, waterfront and shops. We would definitely stay again.

The motel was easy to find as we arrived in Akaroa. Great location; just a short walk into town and there was a fun little pub and restaurant across the road. Free parking. The check-in staff were a highlight, super kind and gave us some tips on what to see and do while we were in town. They even had DVDs you could borrow to play in your room which I thought was cute. The room was as described and had everything we need. Clean, spacious, warm, and had a little balcony overlooking a stream. I'd definitely stay here again.

On arrival, we were welcomed by our very friendly host, Trev, who explained everything. Basically, should we need anything, we just had to ask. On the occasions where we did this, our requests were carried out immediately and with a smile. The accommodation was located a short, pleasant walk from the village centre, thus avoiding any problems with parking and noise. The unit itself, was tastefully and comfortable appointed, with the bonus of a delightfully shaded seating area, next to a stream.

Lovely property located along a creek and in walking distance close to Akaroa town center. Extraordinary manager, Erica - welcoming, informative, accommodating (she set up and equiped barbecue at my request), and attentive in keeping room and outside area spotlessly clean. Useful kitchenette with all utensils and accessories with a charming over a softly running creek at rear of room providing the perfect ambience for a private meal.

Clean room, kitchen had all we needed, large bathroom / shower room, great location, can walk to town and activities and restaurants

I thought we paid extra for " garden view " was a disappointed as it was just a sliding door to a small bench outside. The area needed tidying up and de weeding as was over grown, hardly no space to sit outside, which made it dark and glooming.
