Before commenting first I must apologize for the guest on the night of January 30th. Because my middle school daughter, who is in the rebellious stage, had a quarrel with her mother about a trivial matter at nearly nine o'clock that night, and her voice was loud and affected other guests. I am very sorry. I have stayed in no less than thirty hotels and hotels in Japan, and I think this hotel demonstrates the perfect balance of the three. The first balance is to combine Japanese tradition and modernity. While taking into account modern conveniences, it also shows the meticulousness of traditional Japanese culture. Exquisite Japanese antique decorations can be seen everywhere, giving people the illusion of being in Japan while integrating modern The amenities are well placed. The second one is the perfect balance between privacy and openness. There are seven public baths with different characteristics. However, for foreigners who are not used to bathing in public baths, the hotel also provides private reservation bathing venues, which can be used by foreigners who do not like to go to public baths. For us, we can also enjoy the wonderful experience of local hot springs. The third beautiful balance is the transportation experience. It is very close to the station and takes less than three minutes to walk, which is very convenient for foreigners. There are buses nearby that can go to unique scenic spots, and you can go to various nearby scenic spots in a short time. Finally, this hotel is more affordable than local hot spring hotels. I think it is a great value for money. The above is my true feeling. It is really great. If you want to experience a great value for money trip, I recommend you to stay in this hotel.

This ryokan is really nice and feels like authentic Japan. We definitely enjoyed our stay here. The host and other staff were very friendly and helpful. Just a short walk from the train station made it handy as well. Appreciate the supplied robes and guests' pass to walk around to the other onsens. Even though it was hot out, it was worth the visit to a few of them. You can tell that effort goes into keeping a well-maintained and clean, lodging and dining space.

We purchased the dinner and breakfast option. While the presentation and service were excellent, and most of it was really good, not all of it was. More specifically, some of the seafood felt overcooked at dinner.

Great spacious room (free upgrade) with traditional style. The location is perfect to reach all the Onsens & the train station by walk. The staff was very kind & outgoing. Being able to choose our own Yukata was a nice touch. The Ryokan Onsens aren't spacious but they do the job just fine.

Everything about Kinosaki onsen Hanakouji Saigetsu was perfect!! The staff were exceptional from the minute we arrived to when we left. Was a beautiful experience and had the best sleep, the energy surrounding was Calming. The staff extremely friendly, down to earth and very humble. They actually didnt just promote their own establishment but was more so promoting and telling us to share our experience with how we found their Town!! Was absolutely beautiful!

There was nothing i could fault except I wish I had booked an extra few days more.

Absolutely fantastic stay with the most welcoming and hospitable staff. Location is perfect, just a hop skip from the station and easy walk to the river. Room, amenities, private onsen, beautiful selection of yukatas to pick from, ryokan in itself - 10 out of 10! Not sure if it's publicly advertised but theres was a private photo room in the ryokan (found out about it on their website prior to trip. You're welcome!) and it's just a fun extra added perk to staying here! Last bit certainly not least - the staff! They go above and beyond to ensure you have the absolute best time. Their kindness and warm energy was felt with every encounter and I can't suggest this place enough for your stay! Loved it and was sad to leave

Kinosakionsen is a highly overrated place. With restaurant opening hours that don't match with its status. The Japanese style hotels (they aren't all ryokans) cater for visitors who like to dress up in kimono's to roam the streets; unpaid actors in kinosaki's sales pitch. So Hanakouji Sangei offers their guests kimono's that match their hefty room price (even though that is comparatively low). We joined the locals in not wearing the outdoor kimono's. Aesthetically the hotel is perfect. The room is spacious. It has a table (with leg heating for in winter) and two chairs and an excellent double bed with small pillows (which we prefer). The bamboo rolling curtains don't keep the daylight from waking us up around 6:30. (and it isn't summer yet). You can book the private onsen on the ground floor, so why parade to a public one (even though the hotel gives you a free ticket to an onsen of your choice on arrival)? If you want a ryokan experience without futons, but with all the other impractical humdrum, don't hesitate to book this place. I had my bit since 1977 and we just needed some place close to the station. Hectic Kyoto would have been the alternative.

The rental yukatas and hantens were the most stylish and unique compared to what guests at other ryokans were wearing. Location is excellent, close to train station and main street and onsens. Staff gave us an onsen pass for the 7 onsens in town. We also got a private booking at the bath in house. Staff provided an orientation to town and also provided excellent hospitality, including amazing food service. Rooms were traditional and a little old but comfortable and the bathroom had a Toto.

No elevator so you must take luggage up stairs.

Lovely and big room Very clean and tidy up Wonderful private onsen (hot spring) place!

Strange rule: required to check in between 3-5pm only. Just 2 hours out of 24 hours to check in?This is absurd. Absolutely not reasonable as this is actually a remote area that is not easy to find especially for foreigner They “threatened” that they won’t wait after 6pm and our reservation will be regarded as CANCELLED if we can’t arrive within their required check in time range I’ve informed them that I might not able to arrive within their range but they keep ignoring my messages - although actually I was still managed to check in smoothly after 6pm but it wasn’t fun at all! I almost thought that I am going to sleep on the streets with no onsen opened to me

Even though we couldn't get a reservation for the hotel's dinner or breakfast, the staff kindly gave advice for other nearby options. All of the staff were super kind and bilingual. Also the use of the umbrellas, geta and yukata, bags for our bath stuff and the pass for the baths helped to offset the price of the room.

It said it was a double bed, but it was just two single beds put together. It would be nice if the mattresses didn't slide apart because when sleeping with my wife, one of us was always falling in the middle between the two beds.

Incredible multi-course meals for breakfast and dinner, the private onsen had me feeling renewed and refreshed, the staff were kind and helpful, I loved wearing the provided yukata and wooden sandals and walking around town. They give you a pass to the public bath houses so you don't have to pay to get into 7-8 other onsen. The room was comfortable, and the bathroom products provided were excellent.

The ceilings are low as you go up the stairs, be careful with your head.
