A very pleasant week at The Devonian. Owner and Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent cooked to order and a great variety of hot and cold food. I was able to have Gluten Free versions of everything on the menu - this was exceptional and very much appreciated. The room and the whole place was spotlessly clean. The bed was the most comfortable one I've ever slept on. The building was in a very pleasant and convenient location - near to the promenade and within walking distance of buses, trams, steam trains and shops/restaurants. I would highly recommend The Devonian to anyone visiting this lovely island.
No complains at all

Very friendly and helpful owner and staff. Delicious breakfasts with a variety of choices. You will love their scrambled eggs! Great Victorian-style interior, quite spacey room. Great location, close to the main promenade. Close to the bus stop and city centre in walking distance, so the ferry terminal is. Villa Marina, where many events take place, is just around the corner! The electric tram stop is nearby as well.
There are no parking places dedicated to guests; the owner will guide you on how to play with a "disc" parking in public places, however. I was during the off-peak holiday season, but I can imagine what parking looks like in the high peak time... Noisy heating, waking you up at 7 am. Small bathrooms and narrow stairs as it used to be in such old houses. May be hard to handle for the elderly.

A gorgeous house, beautifully decorated and maintained. A lovely smell as soon as you walk through the door. The bedroom room and bathroom were both immaculately clean. The bed was comfortable with lovely fresh bedding. Breakfast was fantastic with a wide range of options, I wish we could have stayed longer to try them all! The owners and the staff were brilliant and couldn’t do enough for us. We would highly recommend this hotel, not only for the lovely facilities but also for its great location.

It's hard to fault the Devonian - it doesn't pretend to be a ritzy hotel and you'll need to read the arrival instructions if coming after hours (entry code) but it's a super-friendly family place, with very decent facilities for the very reasonable prices, and as others have written, the breakfast is nothing short of a feast with a wide range of options all beautifully prepared to order. We were lucky to be on a low floor but I imagine that the stairs could prove tiring if you're at the top of the guesthouse. Location is great for the promenade and the start of the horse tram.

This hotel is in an amazing spot ,just off the middle part of the promenade. We were able to park directly outside most of the time, occasionally on the road opposite. The Guest house owner is great for advice on the parking restrictions and how to best work around them. The room was comfy for our 4 night stay and breakfast good with plenty of choice. We would stay here again.
We knew there was no lift before we went .The room we had was about the highest you could climb ,but we were fine. Just be aware if you have mobility issues.

The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was superb. The guesthouse is a beautiful Victorian house, just a short walk up from The Promenade (the main street of Douglas, right on the beachfront). The room was small but it was tidy and clean, and we really only needed a place to sleep. The staff were very helpful when it came to booking a taxi or giving recommendations for things to see and do.
Not so much a "didn't like" as a heads-up for others: Being a grand old Victorian house, it has a LOT of stairs. If you struggle with stairs, this isn't the place for you.

The staff were extremely friendly, and very attentive. Breakfast was wonderful and very reasonably priced. The location is perfect, right in the middle of Douglas. Rooms were very tidy and comfortable. There was a storm the day we were meant to sail home and they were very accommodating, letting us keep the room util 6pm and not check out during the day of sailing incase our ferry was cancelled, and then letting us extend our stay for another 2 nights when our boat was cancelled. I'd highly highly recommend the Devonian!

The Devonian was clean, the breakfast was very good with loads of choices. The internet was good. It was a short distance to town, buses, and steam train, which finishes in a couple of weeks for end of season. The shower was very good. The bus from the airport to the bottom of the road was only just over three pounds. The bedroom has a kettle with tea and coffee provided.
The bedroom was cold, as the heating was not switched on. The bedrooms are up quite a few stairs, so no good if you are unsteady on your feet.

We were attending a Wurlitzer concert at the nearby Gaiety Theatre, we didn't want to travel home after the concert due to the forecast storm, The Devonian was an ideal location for our overnight stay, Very comfy room, only a short walk to the Gaiety Theatre. Lovely shower, and to top the whole staycation a delicious Manx breakfast. We'll definitely stay again when we next visit the Gaiety Theatre. Kevin was very welcoming.
The staircase to our room but we only had an overnight bag so no major problem.

The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, breakfast (especially the vegan options, which is important to me) was delicious. The room wasn't huge but enough for me on my own, the bed was comfortable and I found everything I needed (fresh towels if you need them, hair dryer, etc.). Bus and tram stations are very close, so you can basically just step outside the door and explore Douglas and the rest of the island straight away. Thanks Kevin and the whole team for making me feel so welcome ♥
