My 1st night was excellent…quiet and exactly as I had hoped for a getaway. Wendy @front desk is great, Joe @Garden bar is a treat, the decor and ambience is perfect. The artwork, landscaping, architectural features, the whole mood is charming. Very pleased to find this treasure, on my tour. I came to read and write, in peace… and bypass my birthday, as I have just lost my best friend of 37 years(wished to complete this tour we had planned together, in her honour.) She would have loved being here, meeting your lovely staff, and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings.
My 2nd evening, however, did not live up to expectations. There was a dog across the hall, barking started around 10 pm, then a loud voice hushing it, then more barking… later two gentlemen (or loud TV perhaps) til after 11:15pm. Also, awoken early, by the same dog barking. I was unaware dogs are allowed, much less in such a beautiful hotel with fine furnishings… the noise was quite unexpected, and I could not focus to write, much less sleep. Sorry to complain, but being honest.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Barberstown Castle. From the moment we arrived we knew there was a treat in store. The reception team are warm, welcoming & proud of place which is so good to behold. Our room was beautiful and upgrade much appreciated for a special occasion.Exploring the grounds was a joy ,the diversity between old and new so interesting. There are so many special features and works of art in side and out.The Garden bar & restaurant is the loveliest setting.Dinner was delicious, service spot on and again that friendly, openess of every staff member we encountered.A superb breakfast down in the castle was the ultimate surprise I am spreading the word.A stay in Barberstown Castle has topped my list.Thankyou for such a memorable time ,you epitomize the best of irish hospitality Wishing you the best for the future. Míle buíochas.

The professional staff at breakfast was top notch. The history of the castle was fascinating and the room was amazing for the price!! Simply amazing!!
Having to walk through the restaurant with all of our bags when we checked in was awkward. The side door with ramp was locked. Also, I tripped on the edge of one of the slate/stones at the entrance because it was a bit too dark there (nice ambiance of lighting but just too dark to see), so I skinned up my palm badly which bleed and my knee and I dropped my computer (still works though, I think) but it was all a bit unfortunate. With so many elderly guests, that might need to be addressed.

• Stunning castle architecture and interiors that feel like stepping into a museum • Enchanting gardens surrounding the castle, beautifully lit for a magical ambiance • Excellent breakfast served in a grand, historic-style hall • Tasty and well-prepared dishes at the charming Garden Bar
• We visited during a particularly hot weekend, and unfortunately, there was no air conditioning in the room. The windows only opened about 10 cm, which made the nights uncomfortably warm and difficult for sleeping. • The mattresses could be more comfortable—I woke up with some minor back pain.

Food was amazing, room was spacious, bed was comfortable. Staff were super friendly and you can tell they care about their guests. The grounds are spectacular. The garden room is colourful and adorned with some awesome art and Eric Claptons strat! Stayed for a special occasion and was welcomed with a fantastic surprise. I will be dreaming about those macaroons for some time yet.
Only complaint is theres no A.C in the room. The rooms retain heat which is great but it would also be nice to be able to cool down.

Reception staff were excellent and very friendly. It was my wife's birthday and we were given a beautiful bedroom with a Happy Birthday platter of chocolates. The General Manager was wonderful and even helped to repair my reading glasses. Breakfast was beautifully set out and freshly cooked. This hotel is up there with the best we have had the pleasure to stay in and would rate it as excellent in every way. In fact all of the staff were very friendly eager to make our stay the most memorable possible.

The staff were excellent, with particular mention to one of the receptionists, who booked us in last minute at the main restaurant. The bar staff were also fantastic, and extremely engaging in conversation.
The food was great, but it was overpriced. Sadly it is not "fine dining" by my standards. We had stayed at Monart Spa the night before, and the dinner there was of excellent standard (with an amuse bouche, and sorbets in between courses), as well as being noticeably cheaper per head. The rooms were looking a bit tired, with a lot of marks on the carpets and scuffs on the walls.

The hotel and staff were fantastic. The only thing I found strange was that the door to the kitchen was in the foyer where the reception was ..food was being constantly being brought through this area to the dinning room, without covers on dishes, I found it very unhygienic as this area was always busy with residents sitting or passing through..maybe the dishes should be covered to protected before being served to customers.. apart from this our stay was lovely

We stayed for the Range Rover exhibition in the K Club on Wednesday and saw it was a lot more value for money than the K Club. I never stayed in this hotel and I think it was a really fantastic hotel. It is based on an old style castle and the junior suite we were in. It was really lovely a real Downton Abbey theam to it.
Nothing! However, the room we were in had no tea or coffee and coffee biscuits. The kettle and coffee machine and cups were in room, but no tea, coffee, milk, and coffee biscuits.

Beautiful historic building and grounds. Very conveniently located a few minutes drive from the M4. Bedrooms very cosy and tastefully decorated in keeping with the ambience of the castle. We had a lunch in the conservatory, (would highly recommend the chowder), pre-dinner drinks in their lovely lounge before a fabulous meal in The Barton Room complete with roaring fire. Breakfast was served in the stone castle keep, an amazing part of the original castle. Again, food was delicious with a great selection of hot and cold food, the soft crumbly scones were to die for.
