The staff is very nice, but they are only available around 8am until 8pm and they take lunch from 12-2:30 pm. So when I got there at 2pm there was no one to help me. They leave a phone number but I was expecting someone to be available at all times since it's called a hotel. The beds were very comfortable and I love that they gave you two different styles of pillows. One was soft and squishy like I like it. The other was harder and more firm for those who like it that way.

This hotel sits on the corner of two very busy streets. It is noisy all of the time except between 2:00 am and 6:00 am. You will definitely need ear plugs unless you're a heavy sleeper. It says that there's coffee 24/7 but that is not correct. They bring out a container of coffee between 7:15 and 8:15 am depending on the day. That is the only coffee they make all day unless you request more.

I booked the big suite for 100$ for two nights and loved it! Huge bed, very comfortable, nice little kitchen and fast wifi. Absolutely loved staying there and would have stayed longer if it wasn't fully booked. They have a common area with yoga mats to use and card games you can play and offer free coffee. I would stay again.

I wish breakfast was included You get 25% off at a very overpriced bakery. I paid 5400C after the 25% discount for one croissant and a strawberry smoothie that was literally just strawberry and water

Best thing about Zulu is that they give you 25% off at Sol Bakery, one of the best places to eat/have breakfast. Definitely worth it. Amazing place, we forgot a bag inside the room and they were so kind they let us know and shipped the bag to where we were. They offer activities like yoga, surf and salsa classes. They have cleaning available every day if you leave a sign on the door. Rooms have mini fridge and a/c.

Reception is not 24/7 but they still help you with check in/out. The beds for 2 people are a bit small and also the room. But it is fine just bare in mind if you are a tall person the bathroom sink will be too short for you. The shower has hot water but it is either too hot or too cold. Doesn’t have a pool, kitchen or private parking. You have to park on the street. You can’t cook here.

Breakfast was included and was awesome, quite filling and varied! We had it at Sol Bakery right next door. The staff there were amazing, very accommodating and friendly. Marilyn and Arnoldo were the perfect hosts every morning while we stayed there. Our room Santa Teresa suite was well-distributed, very good and clean! The staff was outstandingly accommodating and nice. I have special dietary needs and they went the extra mile to place a microwave oven in our room to supply that need. Christia, Valeria and Marko won our hearts!

This may be a suggestion for management for the future. A bit of more shelving in the toilet and sink room plus an extra electric outlet in the bedroom would make it almost perfect.

I stayed in three different rooms at this hotel, the double room, the deluxe room and the suite. Each one had its perks and was really a wonderful place to stay at, so much that we stayed twice during our travels in Costa Rica. The suite was the best because so spacious and because it has a microwave and a little stove, making it possible to cook little meals. I joined a free yoga class that the hotel organises weekly and really enjoyed it. The place overall is very clean and tidy. You receive a bracelet from the hotel that gives you discounts in selected restaurants nearby. I was at the café just outside the hotel almost everyday, they have delicious cakes! Finally, the staff was super nice, friendly and helpful!

The only negative I have to mention regarding the suite and the deluxe room is the noise that comes from the street. You are facing a busy street where people pass all the time and you hear loud noise from the cars, people shouting and music from the bars until late in the evening. My recommendation would be to invest some money to make the windows soundproof.

Zulu is an above average budget hotel with one of the best locations within Tamarindo. The staff was excellent, helpful and accommodating for our needs. We have stayed at numerous other properties in Tamarindo and the Zulu is near the top of the list. Keep it up!!!

Zulu needs to address the issue that that there is no closet and or dresser so the guests need to live out of their suitcase. The room is large enough to place a closet or dresser within the room. The other item that should be thought of is placing a blanket in the room. Yes I understand that it is warm in Tamarindo however after a day in the sun the warmth of a blanket to get under for a different warm would be nice.

The staff was very friendly. I arrived a few hours before check in and they allowed me to leave my bags behind the front desk until my room was ready, and they had my room available within an hour of my arrival and still two hours before the standard check in time. The room was clean and comfortable, with large windows and three small balconies. The bathroom was clean and the towels and linens were fine. The room came with coupons for several drinking and dining establishments immediately behind and next to the hotel. The AC unit kept the room at a comfortable temperature since the daytime temps were in the low 90s with "feels like" temps at or just over 100. My trip was in mid-May.

The mattress needs to be replaced. There were a couple of places where you could feel the inner springs. I found a comfortable sleeping position but I was travelling alone. Had I been sharing the bed, I know I would have had to sleep on the spring.

Such an amazing little hotel! I loved the moroccan style architecture, how light it was, the space to do yoga, chill and free coffee. Location was perfect, in the middle of everything. The room itself was also cute , comfortable and clean. Sol Bakery - the cafe downstairs- was the best food in town and as hotel guests we got a discount. The staff were friendly and kind. Would happily stay again!

Loved the room. The AC was great, the shower was great, very spacious. Loved the free water that was actually COLD! Felt safe with the locked gate at night. Great location, close to the beach

I think the common areas have so much potential but they are not used at all. Adding some hammocks would be a huge benefit. They also did not tell me anything about the surf boards - were they free for guests?

Got this room at a last minute discounted rate and I loved (so booked another night). Rooms are clean, decorated so nicely, lovely hot showers and netflix, helpful and friendly staff excellent location (which can be noisy because it's so central), and 25% off Sol Bakery was great too. They also have yoga mats which was great and overall a lovely place to recharge and rest and a base to explore Tamarindo.

Quite pricey for the rooms and I wouldn't book at the normal rate but was perfect for the last minute rate
