Our stay at BaseCamp Hotel provided us with an unforgettable and truly impressive view of the Matterhorn that was worth every penny. We booked a room with a view, and it delivered spectacularly. The staff gave us a very friendly welcome and were incredibly helpful throughout our stay; we had emailed them several times about an extra bed before our arrival, and we were grateful for their consistent and reassuring responses. As first-time visitors to Zermatt, we were a bit anxious, but their willingness to answer all our questions put us at ease. The room itself was excellent—very new, well-equipped with all necessities, and the beds were comfortable, even the extra mattress provided, ensuring we all slept soundly. The breakfast also offered a good variety of choices, and the veal sausage was particularly delicious.

The main thing to be aware of is the hotel's location and access from the station. It can be a bit of a walk, and we would strongly advise travelers with large luggage not to follow Google Maps, as it will lead you up a very steep path. The much easier alternative is to take the bus, use the public elevator, and then it's just a short walk to the hotel. The only other minor point was some daytime construction happening across the street during our visit. There was a little noise, but honestly, it was not significant and did not bother us or detract from our wonderful experience at all.

The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The property is very homey. Location is perfect. Was able to access ski rentals from a two minute walk breakfast was exceptional. Had everything you would want for breakfast. The staff would light us a fire in the fireplace in the evenings and their lounge area. The beds were comfortable facility was very clean. Zero complaints would definitely recommend staying here and would stay here again. The staff also helped purchase lift tickets. The owner Richard picked us up at the train station and was very knowledgeable about everything from skiing to restaurants to transportation. I cannot say enough good things about this property.

The hosts were very welcoming, friendly and informative. The room was perfect for our family of 4, very comfortable beds and spacious room. Great location with only a short walk to the gondolas, train and main eating streets. The included breakfast was great and friendly staff each morning offering additional items such as hot drinks. Lived learning about the history of the owners and their own climbing experience, great to have the real items used in climbs throughout the hotel.

Not much not to like! The room was really hot though so even with turning off the water heaters we slept with one window partially open.

Everything! Let's start from the room. It was spacious and spotless. Bathroom was also spacious and clean. A lot of hooks for hanging towels/jackets. More than enough space to place your things in the room. The breakfast was also wonderful. Various choices. You have all nutrients needed! The common room downstairs was cozy and nice. I think I met the owners, the couple, at our first breakfast. Since we, family of 4, took some time to finish our breakfast, the staff and the owner came to ask if everything was okay 😀. They were nice people, especially, Maurizio who prepared coffee for us every morning. He also drove us to the train station on the last day because it was raining. That made our travel much easier and convenient. Laura was also nice. She managed for us to have a ride to the train station. I highly reccommend this place if you go to Zermatt. Not dufficult to walk to from the station or you can take a bus. The price was reasonable for what they have with good quality.

Nothing about the place itself. However, my youngest kid was a little scared to have walked pass the cemetery to go to the resort 🙂.

The room was spacious and filled with a pleasant aroma of wood, which created a truly relaxing atmosphere. Both the room and the balcony offered stunning views of the Matterhorn, making our stay even more memorable. The cleanliness of the room was impressive, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was hearty and provided a great start to our days. Despite the cons, I would recommend Base Camp Hotel for its wonderful ambiance, cleanliness, and great views. Just be prepared for a bit of travel to the station and some noise if construction is ongoing.

The hotel is a bit far from the Zermatt station.. Additionally, there was construction work happening beside the hotel, leading to some noise during our stay. We also experienced some sounds from the ceiling during midnight.

A beautiful hotel, loved the climbers theme down to the mountain names on each room. Very clean, staff were lovely. Great breakfast. The family room was loved by our kids with the bunk bed set up. Spacious rooms with a view of the Matterhorn. Would highly recommend. It was further away from the main part if town but even our 4 and 7 year old had no problem walking between the train station and the hotel. Being on the other side of the river meant quieter and better Mountain View.

The place was amazing, being us climbers and hikers, we loved the interior design. The staff was super nice. We went to a Hut for an additional day, and they allowed us to leave our bags there. They also came and picked us up at the train station when we arrived.

The breakfast was perfect for us. I normally have sweets, bread, and overnight oats/muesli. Maybe if you look for something huge like a typical hotel, it is not in the philosophy of this place, which we loved.

Everything was fantastic! Room was huuuuge, new, clean, the view - wow wow wow! I was running to the window in the morning because it was sooo beautiful! Breakfast was good and the staff was very friendly. There is ski room and a sauna, which was a big plus after a long ski day! Perfect place! Did I mention that they had a cozy fireplace and nice library with many interesting books about the mountains?!:) and….. it’s just meters away from a very good restaurant & a nice pub! I’m DEFINITELY coming back!:)

Excellent little hotel. Much cheaper in the summer off season, and felt like I was getting a lot more than I paid for. Very nice mountaineering them, excellent staff, clean, modern rooms. Breakfast was free and excellent. My room, though not mountain facing, had excellent views of the city from the 4th floor.

Its a bit of a trek up a hill from the train station, about a 1km walk, although the hotel does have a shuttle I think you can utilize.

The view on Materhorn is real! the design of the room is very stylish and cozy the bathroom is nice. and the best thing is the bed. so cozy and warm pillows and blankets! like the breakfast too.

I would like to have eggs already cooked. the egg cooker takes too much time and not so easy to understand how it actually works. you need to know how to get to the hotel. because one of the ways is too sharp upward climb. use another one.
