The name says it all: Ambiance. The atmosphere is charming and cozy. Our days started with the breakfast buffet, where we tried everything—it all tasted so fresh and delicious. The rooms were very spacious and featured a cozy balcony, where we sat and enjoyed the stunning view of the Matterhorn. The hotel offered many amenities we loved, such as an outdoor whirlpool and sauna—perfect after a day of skiing. Every single member of the staff made us feel at home. Honestly, it was hard to leave. We loved it.

- View of Matterhorn was amazing - Room was very comfortable and spacious - Best breakfast buffet we had on our 3 week trip Note: if you have reasonable sized luggage then save yourself the hassle and take the electric taxi to the hotel (coat us CHF 17, but I believe the hotel can also organise this for CHF 15). If you do plan to walk to the hotel, do not follow google maps because it guides you up a very very steep hill and you also need to cross a railway track. We found the route bypassing Old Zermatt restaurant to have a more gentler incline - but we only took this route down to the station.

Our stay was absolutely perfect from start to finish! The family who owns the hotel went above and beyond to ensure every detail of our visit was flawless. Their warmth and hospitality truly made us feel at home. The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the hot tub, where we enjoyed a relaxing soak while taking in the breathtaking views of the Matterhorn. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring. Another memorable moment was sipping a refreshing afternoon drink on the terrace, with the iconic mountain providing a stunning backdrop. We can’t recommend this hotel enough for its unbeatable combination of comfort, charm, and incredible scenery. We’ll definitely be back!

Our stay was truly exceptional, thanks in large part to Stephanie's outstanding hospitality and care. She went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, arranging a beautiful flower delivery to the hotel. Also crew set up a specially decorated breakfast table for my wife's birthday morning. Their attention to detail and thoughtful gestures made our experience unforgettable. We are incredibly grateful for Stephanie and other staff members' efforts. We definitely will come back to this hotel at some moment. The view from the room to Matterhorn was perfect like in the pictures. We got what we expected. Super cool.

Hotel Ambiance reception service started even before we arrived in Zermatt. Hotel Ambiance reception staff Mauro contacted us to confirm our check in for the day. He offered to arrange for a taxi to the hotel since we had luggages. After alighting from The Glacier Express train at the Zermatt HB station, we were greeted by our driver Christophe who helped us with our luggages right through to reception. It was here that we first met that bright young man named Mauro who made our stay at Hotel Ambiance such a memorable experience. Mauro had talked about the ongoing events in Zermatt village which helped us with our plans for Zermatt. He had arranged for our room to be specially decorated with a heart shaped blanket and a note on the bed welcoming us with wishes for our wedding anniversary. Our hotel room had a balcony, complete with table and chairs, became our favorite spot during our stay as it had a very clear view of The Matterhorn Mountain on one end. And if the timing is right, a view of the Gornegrat train climbing the sharp elevation of the mountain, on the other end of the balcony. The hotel itself is beautifully designed complete with a sauna and a whirlpool tub within its grounds. The distinct sweet smelling Edelweiss and a variety of beautiful flowers can be seen everywhere within the hotel. There were restaurants, cafes and a bakery within walking distance from the hotel. Near the restaurants, there is a bus stop for the free electric bus to the Zermatt Glacier Paradise station and also to the Gornegrat train station.

Zermatt is a beautiful village. But the elevation and stairs makes lugging heavy luggages a little bit challenging.

Hotel Ambiance makes you feel you are home, or even better.. makes you feel you are staying at your very close friend’s place or family members’s. Everything is in place.. super clean and organized, amazing breakfast… also for whiskey lovers they have a very interesting whiskey bar/collection. It’s very close to everything, including the one of the 2 main lifts. At the end I have to say thank you to Alain and Stephanie who own and manage the property and also Katharina who would help you out almost with everything I would definitely go back and would recommend it to everyone .

Everything was great

The room offers a beautiful and spacious balcony with Matterhorn view. Was deeply impressed that it was throughly cleaned after the first night of our stay when there were thunderstorm and heavy rain. So when the sun appeared the following day, we enjoyed a relaxing simple dinner in the balcony while admiring the stunning view. Inside, the room was spacious, clean and well-equipped with kettle and teabags as well. Shower room was super with rain shower and heating towel rack. The staff, especially Stephanie, was very friendly and helpful.

When we left the board of the Glacier Express in Zermatt, we were quite overwhelmed with the noise and crowds of the town center. What a relief was to discover the property located at the edge of the town, out of all that touristic hassle. At the same time, it was easily and fast accessible from the station/center just on foot. The views were wonderful, we were upgraded to a bit bigger room than we originally booked, and it had Matterhorn in it's full glory visible from the balcony. The window was looking over the town and other mountains, also a great view. Bathroom was spacious, warm, with a very good shower. Beds were comfy. Breakfast quite a plenty and tasty, with all you need to start your day out in the mountains with joy and energy. After the day outside we enjoyed a lot the sauna on the ground floor of the property and the bubble bath on the open property terrace on the first floor level. There was a lift by the way, it was very helpful when we had to bring upstairs our luggage. The property also had a cozy lounge with a self-service bar where we enjoyed a drink in the evenings. Very friendly and caring staff was to crown it all. Absolutely recommended!

The room was just enough to provide sufficient space for the two of us. Because of the balcony available, property having a lounge and spa facilities, and us being in the room mostly to sleep it felt fine though. Maybe a yet smaller room without balcony that we originally booked would feel too tight. The room design felt a bit outdated with a huge wardrobe looking like something belonging more to the office environment occupying a lot of space. It would be also great if the main light was dimmable, felt a bit too bright while bedside lights weren't enough. Anyway, we enjoyed overall!

Loved the breakfast it was so good! Cold meats, variety of breads, jams, yogurts, granolas, fruit, bacon, sausage, pancakes, scrambled eggs! It was delicious! The spa was nice, our room had a view of the Matterhorn and it was awesome when the mountain was visible through the clouds! Stephanie was so kind checking us in and just being so kind through our 6 day stay! Loved how it was near town it wasn’t too far away but just far enough to be out of the main tourist streets which was actually nice to have some peace and quiet. The room was nice and clean, loved the swing on the porch! We will definitely be back!

The only thing I wish it had was a fridge in the room, would’ve been nice to have cold drinks and some snacks in our room. Also wish the amenities like the bar and spa closed later than 8pm.

Direct view of Matterhorn if the sky is clear. And there is a pool to enjoy the view of Matterhorn too.

If you didn’t take the taxi, be prepared to walk uphill with your luggage…
