The view of the Matterhorn from our room was outstanding. Hotel was nice overall, the spa was great, and we enjoyed the breakfast every morning. Location was pretty good, within 10 minutes walking distance of the train station and all three ways to get up the mountain.

Pillows were very flat and awkwardly large, making them pretty uncomfortable. We requested extras but they had the same issue. Rather than one large mattress, we had two twin mattresses pushed together with separate blankets that felt flimsy and cheap. A little confusing considering how much we paid for the room.

The hotel is modern and clean, with the staff being friendly and informative. The hotel's location is perfect - close enough to everything but out of the way if you want some peace and quiet. The view of the Matterhorn for the room does not disappoint! Breakfast is lovely, and there is plenty of selection to choose from. Spa is also well equipped and emaculate. I bought fresh cookies from the bakery on the last day to take home for a gift and the staff there were so helpful! And the prices were fair.

The rooms can be a bit stuffy, so we kept our balcony door open most of the time for some fresh air. Would have also been nice to have some coffee and breakfast tea in the room, rather than herbal only teas but that is preference.

(1) I loved how peaceful the hotel was, a perfect escape from the main street noise, but it was still close enough to everything. (2) The front yard was my favorite spot! Guest can spent mornings there sipping coffee and dreaming, and evenings grilling and laughing with friends. (3) The hotel managed to keep that old-world charm while adding modern touches. It felt so cozy and inviting. (4) The staff were absolutely wonderful! They went out of their way to make me feel welcome and taken care of. (5) Breakfast was a highlight. Those fresh pastries from the hotel's bakery were to die for! (6) The Stockhorn restaurant is a must-try! Their grilled meats were incredible. It was such a treat to have a delicious meal right next to the hotel (to me, it is really a big plus upon my arrival after a long train journey) (7) !!! You can enjoy the Matterhorn every single day from your balcony!!!

Loved my stay at the Rex, it was everything I needed and more for my short stay in Zermatt. The facilities overall are very up to date and has a wonderful, cozy feel to it. You walk in through their outdoor garden area which is great to relax in during the day or the evening. They have a big, comfortable bar area inside, their own bakery, a sitting area with communal board games, etc. My favorite amenity was the spa which was more extensive than the typical hotel, they have multiple saunas, steam room, hot tub, a large pool, relaxation areas and more. I loved this after my day long hikes. The room itself is quite spacious and very comfortable. I selected a room with a Matterhorn view and it was wonderful. I also loved how in the summer they offered an outdoor BBQ menu, I ended up eating there both nights since the food was so good. The breakfast was delicious, although I wish I realized you could order dishes from the menu vs. buffet style earlier on! The staff was great at all times, always cheerful and willing to help. Lastly, in terms of its location, while its a short walk from the main street, I think this is a plus because you can escape the busy area and the area is actually equidistant to both the Zermatt train station and gondola station (which are in opposite directions). There are a handful of restaurants and bars nearby so it’s still lively! Definitely stay at the Rex if you plan to visit Zermatt, you won’t be disappointed

Only thing that could have been better is because there is no AC, perhaps they could provide a fan in the room

The Rex hotel is the best hotel we stayed overall Switzerland. The staff is really helpful and friendly, more than helpful with everything. Check-in is quite convenient and the lobby is well decorated and spacious. Chilling at the garden, relaxing in the spa area was amazing. The experience shower is a must-try as well. The pool is rather big. They have shuttle service from and to the train station and they are always at your convenience. Special thanks to Robin, Rafaela and our shuttle driver for being amazing people. Thank you so much Robin for recommending us the Stockhorn restaurant, we had the best cote du boeuf ever! Fabulous hotel with fantastic people. Fully recommend!

The staff make this hotel what it is. Everyone is super polite and very informative. The bakery is a great addition. They make fresh coffee too. Breakfast was good. Lots of fresh bread. The Spa is pretty good - it was nice and relaxing until 4 young kids arrived and screamed their heads off. Our room was nice. (Superior) - Fridge in the room which allowed us to get a few things from the local shop. Eating out can be expensive compared with UK but its Zermatt. Ate at the Hotels Grill on the first night. Really good food, the staff were fun and made you feel welcome. The grill chef is really good to watch. Ski boot room is nice and warm. Rented skis from the ski shop across the road. Get a discount when you say you are from the Rex. Location to get the Ski Bus's are great - short 3-5 minute walk down to get bus. We would stay at the Rex if we came back to Zermatt. Many Thanks.

A lovely friendly and comfortable hotel. Very helpful staff. Collected from the train station in the hotel shuttle. The room was very comfortable and very quiet. We even slept with the window open as we like a cool room and were not disturbed as it is in a quieter area. The breakfasts were lovely with very healthy options. The spa was great with a nice Finnish sauna and cold shower, steam room and a hot tub & swimming pool. Would without doubt stay at The Rex again.

The breakfast coffee wasn't the best. Would love the hotel shuttle to also drop off at the ski lifts in the morning.

Beautiful hotel! Very centrally located to walk wherever you need to go. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The breakfast was great, buffet style but also a few options you could order from the kitchen. There’s a lovely little bakery attached and an outdoor garden bar during summer. And our room had a beautiful view of the Matterhorn right from the terrace. Overall, we had an amazing stay and would definitely return our next time in Zermatt.

It was clean, quite and warm. The room was super spacious. The view of Matterhorn was amazing. The hotel has pool and saunas. They were super. The breakfast really good. Pancakes are very tasty. The hotel has also a restorable, where they prepare meat on the open flame. Definitely recommend to try.

Two small notes for the hotel: - would love to have some lactose free milk, not soy or almond milk - and cappuccino was overheated

We traveled 15 days in Switzerland, all hotels were in the $350 per night range, This was by far the best hotel out of every place we stayed, The view of the matterhorn from the room was Epic!, the breakfast that was included was 10 times better than any other hotel we stayed at, they bake bread every morning, Coffee was delicious, Staff were extremely helpful and to top it off the Resturant attached to the Hotel made an Epic Spicy Stake skewer! Fantastic Resturant!!!! I don't have enough good things to say about the REX. For context we are Americans from Hawaii that extremely enjoyed our relaxed trip through Switzerland and this was the best hotel we stayed at during our stay, a few of the other places in Interlaken and Zurich were much more expensive and not even close to as nice.

The church bell in Zermatt that rang every 15 min was quite annoying.
