My stay at green elephant backpackers was a truly memorable one. From the minute I walked in to the facility I felt the care and attention to detail from the staff members I encountered. The space was very clean and pleasant. The staff were all very friendly and approachable people, and the room super comfortable. The bed was so comfortable. I truly felt at home. The location is also very convenient, close to most of the amenities one needs, and with the bus and the train station at a walking distance away. It's also very close to Lower main rd which has many venues, Capetown art and culture and night life to explore. One also feels so safe and secure not only in the backpackers itself but also in the community which was a breadth of fresh air as a South African woman. I highly recommend Green elephant if you are open to staying in a calm community and willing to meet interesting new people on your time in the mother city.

The Green Elephant Backpackers is a safe place and lots of people there, locals and backpackers whom I could nicely socialize with. I slept in a men's 6-bed dorm with a view at the Lions Head. The hostel features a spacious kitchen with 4 fridges, and also a kind of a living space that offers free Wi-Fi and sufficient charging sockets for some 4 to 6 digital nomads at a huge table. There's also a fancy bar (bringing own alc beverages is not allowed). To go to the center CBD and to the Water Front is a 5 to 6 km distance. I always used the Minibus taxis at 12 R each ride to CBD and walking the remaining way.

Two points I wish the owner would change: 1) I missed individual lights at my bed. 2) I was not allowed to consume my own beer and wine.

The kitchen was basic and the oven was temperamental in terms of temperature control and the gas lighter not working. Blind broken in accommodation but rest of facilities excellent

The room was a perfect room for comfortability small but cozy perfect for a couple, private bathroom included was a bargain also all the hottest bars are close by so it makes it so convienent to stay and lets not forget the bar and pool situated in the green elephant backpackers what a great touch to the place really brings good vibes when checking in definitely a must visit spot

The fact that there was no microwave and fridge in the room

The property was spacious and had different zones allowing for more a spread and not too many people cramped into one spot

The wooden floors unfortunately made the sound travel super easily throughout the hostel

The sheets needed to be changed more often but they do it when you ask.

The girl at the reception with glasses was so nice from the start to the finish and l really enjoyed my short stay since l was on transit.l don't mind coming back.

I just liked the vibe if the place. Very friendly. The staff male you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. And the location of it is in a good location as everything essential is close by
