My contacts at the property was mainly with Phillip and Steven. They offer exceptional service including flexibility in the time to make up the room and doing my laundry within a day at very reasonable prices, The house is a renovated old colonial style building that is magnificently done. My Roodenburg Suite was spacious and had its own patio area. The common area includes a breakfast and lounge area, sheltered patio section overlooking the swimming pool. One evening I had pizza with a friend on the patio area and enjoyed chatting with other travelers. The free breakfast was superb. Each morning I had freshly cut up fruit, yoghurt and muesli. A cooked breakfast was also offered should you want it. The entrance to the property is a bit challenging the first time you arrive as you turn in the middle of a traffic intersection into the property and then have to cross the cycling path. But once you have done it once it is easy. Definitely my first choice if I travel to Cape Town again.

The location is excellent, situated in a quiet and safe area that easily connects you to various parts of the city. Moreover, Roodenburg House has a fantastic team, with a special mention to Steven for his professionalism and excellence.
One of the first aspects that did not meet my expectations was the view from the room (Mountain Suite), as it unfortunately does not offer a good view of the mountain as expected. Another factor is the breakfast, which lacks variety and is served in portions that can sometimes be insufficient.

I did not expect my stay to be so grand. My room was luxurious. The house provides books, boardgames and DVD's (there is a DVD player in the room). I must also say that this is one of the few places I've stayed that actually provided a good desk and chair for laptop use. Most other places give you a small or no desk, which is far away from any plugs. But here, everything was set up to actually function easily. I also enjoyed the in house bar.
In house bar wasn't replenished during my two week stay, so we ran out of soda.

The staff were most helpful, polite and could not do enough to make me feel welcome. I loved the luxury suite I stayed in with its beautiful bath and private little patio and the breakfast was superb and very well presented. Although on the main road, the place is quiet and it is a bonus to have a full suite of television programmes to watch in the relaxing, comfortable room.
I looked for cold, sparkling water in the Honesty bar but could not find any there. But that is a small thing in comparison with all that was good at Roodenburg House.

I booked for a friend. He found the place very clean, and Philip & Steven were very friendly and accommodating. When we needed to extend the stay by one night it was very easy, they changed the room for us and made it happen. Self check out was also easy as I had to collect my friend for an early flight, so they organized a cold breakfast for the early morning. Thank you Philip, Steve and the Roodenburg team!
The WiFi signal wasn't very stable, and the location of the entrance gate can be confusing for drivers; they tend to end up next door because it's oddly situated very close to an intersection on Campground Rd

Breakfast was lovely although I think that Philip is under a lot of pressure to get breakfast out on time when there are a few customers, especially with loadshedding. The fruit and English breakfast are great but perhaps just a eg croissant with jam would buy some time while preparing the cooked breakfast. And possibly a tea/ coffee station in the dining room where people could just help themselves would also help with timing. But otherwise, Philip and Steven were great and very helpful and friendly at all times. The honesty bar was appreciated. It would be great to have a few snacks as part of the offering but I understand that the ‘honesty’ part can be problematic. The efforts to mitigate during loadshedding, especially keeping WiFi running were greatly appreciated. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Not being able to have supper in-house is a bit frustrating (it does still have this as an option on the website). I did order Uber eats a couple of times but the bedroom is not conducive to eating and can be a bit messy without proper utensils etc. Philip did readily agree that we could eat takeaways in the dining room if we ordered again. Being able to have a simple in-house supper would be helpful especially when staying for a while (I stayed for a week). My daughter spent 2 nights with me and I found the additional R500/ night for a second person in the room excessive.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was neat and clean with really comfortable beds. The bathroom was well-equipped and spotless. Max went out of her way to ensure we could arrive earlier than the standard check-in time. The property felt safe and secure.
I would have preferred that there was no TV in the breakfast room but that’s a personal preference.

Phillip was an absolute gem. It was exceptionally clean and spacious. A beautifully maintained property.
The bathroom amenities could maybe be a bit more. I usually bring my own shower cap and earbuds and this time I forgot so maybe just those items would always be nice to have for those quick stay overs.

This is such a fantastic gem that I was surprised to stumble on. It has character, that historic touch, but is spacious and has all modern comforts. The rooms are beautifully appointed with the mountain view room being authentic in it's claim. The staff were supremely helpful and the breakfast was sublime.
