We were pleasantly surprised to find a DSTV stream on TV. The rooms have been modern and upgraded since we were there a few years ago. You can expect everything and more: freshwater every day, friendly cleaning personnel, and just an upgraded experience. We had a succulent breakfast and nicely comfortable hours.

Although the Hotel's interior is excellently noise-proof, we were in room 216, and the windows were not of a kind that can keep sound out. Everything happening outside was as if it were happening in our room. In spite of that, we will still use the same room because of its pleasantness.

Shout out to Oupa. It was my husband's birthday on the 18th and mine on the 19. He made both days super special, we really appreciate him and made both our nights special by his kindness. The breakfast was nice, it's just that the bread was dry every morning. However, when you told the staff, they tried to remedy it. Our room was nice, we enjoyed it. It was bigger in real life, the pictures make it look smaller

The wifi ticket we got the first time, expired on the first day. The receptionist did give us a new one though. The dry bread in the morning and we couldn't set up the Bonvoy app. Even after the receptionist tried to assist, it still didn't work. It keeps saying my location is in the US. When I change it to South Africa, it won't let me go further

The room was well appointed with good quality furnishings. All the necessary items were there, like a hair dryer, kettle, safe, etc. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast food was of outstanding quality and more than enough in both volume and choices. This is the second time we stay there and would definitely stay there again. The location could not be better with easy walking distance to almost all the shops and restaurants.

As I came to expect, there were very little not to like. If I have to choose something it would be that the air-con in our room was a bit noisy and that the either the TV is on its way out or the signal quality was poor. It was a bit difficult to hear the TV over the racket the air-con made. It did not really bother us that much as we were not there to watch television.

I loved the location; the rooms were clean and up to standard. The breakfast was delicious and the staff attentive. I would come back again and again

Due to the issue of water i was unable to use the bathtub and had to use the shower which are very small for someone my weight. It was difficult getting into the shower. The rates were just too high i had booked in July and was informed that since it is the week of the beer festival, we would have to pay double.

A beautiful property with the friendliest staff. The view of the mountains from our room was breathtaking! We felt very safe and were a walking distance from entertainment. Special shout out to the following staff members: Motsamai, Zack, Mapula, Lerato and Eunice.

The pool closed early and we had hoped the hotel would do something small for New Year’s Eve. The showers in the rooms are also basically right at your bedside, which could be a nightmare.

Parking lot - interaction with attendant on arrival was very upbeat and friendly. This set a good tone for my first "staff experience" at the Hotel. Staff interaction (security, reception, maintenance staff, bar and serving staff) "Great" Friendly, upbeat and helpful. Room - Nice room, felt it was good value, wasn't disappointed at all. Bed and linens/pillows were amazing, room / bathroom were both very clean and felt fresh, I really appreciated that. Food was fantastic and a "stand out" for me.

The decor of the area specifically used as the Hotel dinning room and lounge, uninspiring and drab, feeling very dated (circa 1995). No ambiance, no vibe or feel to the space. Better decor of the bar area IE making it more cozy at night would get people to want to spend time there. Just my opinion.

We were there for our Anniversary, everything was outstanding, from the rooms, staff to the breakfast. I would definitely go there again. I would give them 6 stars. That was in December and we are still talking about it. Thank you so much to the every team member from Protea Hotel. Especially the lady that made the omlets.

We had a minor misunderstanding with some of the staff. We asked one of the staff at the reception if we could go to the the pool area with our stuff (snacks and drinks), and he said it was not a problem. And then when we came down with our stuff, the other person at the restaurant said it wasn't allowed. It was tiring to go down to ask, up to fetch, down with the cooler box and then up again to return it. It's understandable since there is a bar and a restaurant there at the hotel, my only concern is the lack of information by some staff members which caused an unnecessary up and down.

The room was spotless (completely clean). There was enough car parking space. The entire hotel looked amazing. The receptionists were very welcoming and helpful. The view from my room was (I think it was room 212) breathtaking. The breakfast was delicious and looked very appetizing (and there was more than enough food so it was value for money). The hospitality was on point... There is a young African gentlemen called Donald, he has the biggest and most genuine smile and very informative about the area and other places to visit for entertainment in/around Clarens (please give him a raise/bonus/award or something because he understands how to treat guests with the utmost respect). The next time I am there, I will want to be served by Donald at the eating/restaurant area of the hotel - that is how good he is with people.

Excellent views, well furnished rooms, great bar and lobby. Friendly and helpful staff. Clarens itself is a great destination and the hotel is very centrally located, close to the main square.

Some room fittings aren't great. The lights on the central air con hub above the bed disturbed our sleep and the door to the bathroom was extremely squeaky.
