Reflecting on my recent stay, I found the experience to be a mix of positives and areas for improvement. While the hotel exudes a certain old-world charm, the front desk could benefit from refresher training. The check-in process, unfortunately, took longer than expected, and it left me with the impression that there's room for enhancement in efficiency. The establishment, undoubtedly a good old hotel, seems to be in need of upping its standards to align with contemporary expectations. While my stay wasn't unpleasant, there was nothing particularly remarkable that stood out, making it difficult to pen down an enthusiastic recommendation. In essence, City Lodge Morningside provides a decent stay, but it falls short of being an experience worth raving about.

Real nice to have a hotel with own private/secure parking in the city center. It was conveniently close to several shopping malls. The room was sufficent but not very big, especially not if you bring a few big suitcases, we had to place them on the bed to open them. The beds were good and the room was quiet, we slept well ! The restaurant (and staff) was good, meal of the day was a real nice curry ! Nice we could choose for the cheaper continental breakfast only (no warm foods).

As we were at the end of our holiday it was kind of strange to suddenly be in a buisiness hotel again, not that there was anything wrong but we felt a change in vibe from holiday to buisiness..

My stay at City Lodge Morningside was pleasant, enjoyed the clean and spacious room, the food tasted good and the overall service of the staff was great. I would like to suggest though that visitors are told at arrival not to bang doors in their rooms, because that was the only horrible thing that I experienced from my fellow visitors. No need to bang a door when closing, be considerate of your next door neighbor.

The room was clean together with the bed linen. The receptionist at both the gate and the reception areas was smooth . The gatekeeper, i believe his name is Rametsi, checked us through quickly without delays. He voluntarily helped to offload our luggage ,and when we left the next day his colleague did likewise.

A bit of noise at night filtered through our window but once we fell asleep, we didn't hear a thing . The drainage of the shower in our room was poor. It will not empty completely .

The breakfast team is slow in clearing tables . Sunday morning the tables were not set up. I had to take used place mats to set up my table for breakfast and get my own cutlery from the waiter station. the flow waiting staff were not visible at the restaurant. Excellent service from the Reception team at check in and check out.

We specifically had a helper that cleaned our room and made sure our drinks were cold,she went the extra mile of bringing us an iron and ironing board and ordered us to keep it during our 3 days stay. The receptionist “Noma” was sooo friendy,she gave us a warm welcome the minute we walked in,during and when we were leaving. All in all your staff is top notch,excellent,excellent hospitality.

TV channels. We couldn’t watch anything. Not even a music channel.

Friendly, Helpfull Staff - They are really Amazing!!

That there is NO bar fridge in the rooms. I stayed for a few nights, but a bar fridge would have been great to keep my beverages etc cold. Also need a few more meals added to the menu. I stay there regularly, and the menu never changes.

Breakfast was amazing.Location was good and easily accessible.The staff were friendly and helpful.The hotel has a good delivery service from a sister lodge which offers variety on meal choice.

Outstanding bills on check out were not transparently presented.No statement was printed out for me to crosscheck.i had settled my account the day before and wasn't expecting any more charges during checkout.i paid ZAR 180 which in hindsight should not have come up.

The staff are amazing! And the restaurant is great quality.

The vending machine does not work! I e noticed this is a City Lodge thing - none of your hotels have vending machines that actually work and it is a source of great irritation.

The breakfast was good. The location is spectacular for those like me going to Morningside Mediclinic, just crossing the road walking you are there! Security very attentive!

The dinner could be better! Division of the breakfast in continental and full breakfast it seems not helping much the guests!
