It is a very excellent property, although just a little bit dated. The staff is very good and well trained and helpful.

We did have a problem with the hot water in our room whereby I only had a lukewarm shower about four or five times. And the temperature in the basement gymnasium was unbearably cold to the point I just could not exercise in it.

1. The welcome letter signed by Lind Reddy, General Manager, was addressed to somebody else - Mr Prinsloo and not to me. 2. There was this rude waiter who from the moment I walked into the dining room he started by sending me to bar rather. Then he took more than 15 minutes to take my order. When he took my order he got to the kitchen and mixed it up. I had asked for chutney and he brough beans in his own initiative without even checking with me as I am allergic to beans. I asked him to change, he said the chutney he had was a tinned one and it was sweet. So he decided again in own, to bring paper sauce to which I have refused. Then the manager in duty and the chef both came to see me and brought exactly what I had ordered. So from that point onwards I was well taken care off.

Good location close to Nelson Mandela Square, the hotel operates a shuttle to and from. Breakfast had a good choice at a reasonable additional cost. The pool area was nice, could do with a few more loungers . The gym was well equipped. The restaurant had a good quality food.

I had to extend my stay and this was stressful as I was told I had to move rooms but had to leave the hotel for the day at 7am. The upgrade cost I was quoted was 3 x as much as that quoted on the Internet. In the end I stayed in the same room which is what should have been done originally.

The two adjoining rooms that I occupied were good and had enough work space for me. I could teleconference without any disturbances. the rooms were clean and the staff was friendly and caring at this five-star hotel.

There is nothing I can think. I will not pick on something and complain for the sake of complaining. It is clear that the staff and the owners of this hotel try their level best to give their customers value for money. I would encourage them to continue keeping high standards of customer care.

The hotel manager was exceptional in assisting me to arrange a room earlier than the check in time, as I had an event to attend at the hotel that day and she immediately relieved my anxiety by assisting me in such a friendly and efficient manner. She went above and beyond to ensure that my needs were taken care off and she was extremely friendly and approachable.

Truthfully there wasn't anything that I was unhappy with at the hotel, everything met exceptional standards and I will definitely be going back at any opportunity.

Location is excellent. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bed and linen were top notch. Breakfast spread and service were also world class.

front desk staff not so friendly. The biggest issue with the hotel is the parking. Front staff should tell guests that parking is not free. One is under impression parking is free and so guests leave without paying and this causes problems at the exit boom, where there is always a car jam of people who havent paid for parking causing unnecesary delays and irritation. I stayed for one day and there was 4 traffic jams at the exit boom due to this.

The breakfast was amazing and the bed extremely comfortable. The gym is well equipped and if it was slightly warmer I would have loved to use the swimming pool. All the staff lovely and extremely friendly and helpful.

It could use some renovation. 3/4 of the tapis roulants in the gym don’t work properly.

Location is superb for visitors. The Sandton mall/Mandela square is only a mile away and the hotel runs shuttles at 15 min intervals to ensure safety of guests. The hotel interiors are a little dated but I didn't find it to be a problem. It lives by the standards of what you'd expect from a 5 star hotel. And it is the best value for money, by far. The breakfast was excellent too

The water in the shower is sometimes lukewarm instead of hot. We were initially given a room that had not been cleaned post the previous guests' checkout. However, they made up for it instantly and upgraded us to a better room

Lovely old hotel still has that nineties Hollywood feel, good breakfast. Big spacious rooms with good closet space and old style marble bathroom. Good toiletries.

Pool bar not stocked poor chap had to run up and down the stairs for basics like ice.The room windows don't open, so found it claustrophobic to have no option for fresh air, even if just a crack.

The staff were very friendly. The doorman even opened the car door for me when my uber arrived.

I nearly choked when I got my dinner bill. I did not realise when I asked for bottled water I should have asked the prices. It seems unfair staff automatically give you the R100 a bottle imported stuff instead of asking. Cost more than my glass of wine. Shocking!
