The fact that on our last day there was no water, so could not shower prior to our departure. I understand that this was not the fault of the Hotel, and that there was a general water outage in the area.

The hotel is very beautiful and comfortable. The breakfast is complete has a lot of options, the staff is very friendly and helpful (they allowed us late check-out as it was possible also because I wasn’t feeling good and our flight was late) there is a lovely bar inside the hotel and a meat restaurant also connected to the hotel but there is also some asian restaurants nearby and these were good options for dinner or lunch not far from the hotel (2 min walk), the room is spacious, the amenities are very good and the hair dryer is big and has high power. Is located in a very good area of JHB and overall is really nice to stay here

we have had one dirty towel on the room though it was recently cleaned, the bathroom is a bit small BUT it has both a shower and a bathtub so I could understand that there wasn’t much space for 2 people to be at the same time. They are using shampoo conditioner and shower gel all in one which is a bit odd for a Marriott hotel (first time I see this). there should be 2 people on the eggs station at breakfast as the line can become too long at around 8-9 am which is a busy time always, also this line blocks other guests from taking other food available close, maybe you need to move the egg station somewhere else… (the lady of the egg station is very nice and kind though… this is the positive point)

Very good breakfast but dinner was very disappointing when Dustin foods run out the chef took too much time to replenish or not to replenish at all expecially after a long day Many of us who experience this were greatly disappointed. We could see the service staff trying to assure to wait but you can sense their hands were tied as they do not have the last word Thank you so much for your hospitality Hope you take time to address the concerns Looking forward visit you again God bless 🙏❤️

Dinner time the food was not enough or replenished quickly or not done at all left us wasting time expecting nothing

My room was spacious, the hotel had a variety of eating and drinking venues, right next to a local shopping centre. It was only a hotel free shuttle ride away from Nelson Mandela Square with the upmarket ships.

The room cleaning staff had many people doing a small job. This meant it took all day for everything regarding the daily room service to be completed. This could mean a number of interruptions if in your room relaxing or doing some work.

The location is awesome. The Protea Hotel by Marriott Johannesburg Balalaika Sandton is located close to Marc Shopping Centre, a place with a well-equipped gym, fantastic restaurants such as Wok and Roll - Korean cuisine with incredible food, very tasty soups and sushi; and Ribs and Burgers - one of the best places to eat ribs and burgers. The Protea Hotel by Marriott Johannesburg Balalaika Sandton also has the Bull Run restaurant inside, with incredible food. The hotel also offers a free shuttle service for transportation to and from the Hotel to Nelson Mandela Square, an incredible shopping mall, for a wonderful shopping experience and also the opportunity to try various types of Korean, Chinese, Italian food and Greek. culinary flavors.

I love staying at the Balalaika. From the attention to detail in the rooms, to the beautiful grounds, it is a delight to be there. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would especially like to commend a young man named Clarence, currently working as a porter. Not only does he go the extra mile, but he is exceptionally gifted, conversant with a wide range of topics, and I believe has the potential to go far in both career and life, given the opportunity.

The room was neat and tidy with everything a guest needs to feel comfortable. The surrounding garden areas and swimming pools were relaxing enough to read a book, or enjoy an afternoon lunch. The location is convenient as there is Sandton City Mall and Nelson Mandela Square nearby. The hotel security was also on point and I felt safe throughout my stay. I enjoyed the delicious breakfast and the efficient room service.

More efficient flushing system

The breakfast was very good . Wide selection of foods. It would be great if vegans or plant based guests could have non diary milk, frozen blue berries etc. Frozen vegetables were available but they were overcooked. Given the security status in Johannesburg it was great to have the shuttle bus from the hotel to Sandton shopping centre. I saw families with young children. I just wonder how did they manage to provide clean clothes on a daily basis? A laundry room with dryers would be very helpful. Washing powder and coins to operate the machines can be provided at the reception desk. Just a thought.

I have stayed in various places operated by Marriot. I have a membership card for which I get bonus points each time I stay at a Marriot hotel. I was informed that because I had booked my stay with booking.com I do not qualify for any points.

Very friendly staff and ready to help. The room was excellent and everything was on point and very clean. The breakfast was awesome and fresh. The location was also verry good and the fact that there was free transport to and from the shopping mall. This was our second time at this hotel and I do not regret at all, everything was awesome and exceptional, keep it up!!!!!!!! Thank you very much.
