This boutique hotel is a constant delight and hours can be spent just admiring the different pieces of décor in the rooms, corridors, restaurant and entrance. I found the staff to be so kind and attentive, especially Daniel, who is an expert at choosing costumes for the Sunday buffet lunch. For R150, you can hire your medieval look for the day, such fun. The hotel offers private dining rooms for costume parties and other special events. The Queen’s Tower is a wonderful suite with a comfortable lounge with an entrance to a private outdoor patio between the towers. Upstairs, the round bedroom offers lovely views, a stunning bathroom with a spa bath and ample cupboard space. Every day the fridge is stocked with a substantial snack box that more that covers breakfast, if you are off that day or the dining room offers an array of breakfast choices. The Netflix channels offer a pleasing change from the more mundane offerings in South African hotels. The restaurant has a good lunch/dinner menu, with ample portions of well-cooked food. It is closed for all of Monday but the Waterfall Mall is only 4 km down the road with ample eating choices. Definitely a place I will return to.

The experience was exceptional. Feels like you traveled back in time. Extreme attention to detail with the decorations.

Rooms need maintenance. It wasn’t as clean as it should be. Towels were harsh on skin. Cleaning service wasn’t up to par. Room needs to be vacuumed.

Breakfasts are great and wholesome. Dinner was excellent, especially the chicken livers and Eisbein. My daughter's calamari was a little disappointing, but overall still my favourite hotel between Botswana and Pretoria, will always stop there when travelling between these 2 places just for the experience. Even provided us with 2 Nespresso machines when we requested.

Except for my daughter's calamari which was disappointing, there was nothing not too like. I would suggest to offer the customer the option of either having a kettle or Nespresso machine in their room.

Room 1 is wonderfully large and it is very nice to have the separation between the small living room (downstairs) and the bedroom (upstairs). The balcony is also very nice. The restaurant has an excellent selection and even more excellent prices.

The sound insulation between the restaurant and the rooms could be improved upon. One has to play some music inside the room during the day and early evening if one doesn't enjoy the restaurant's playlist.

All good. Door leading to balcony had difficulty to unlock. Matras not comfortable and might need replacement

The food could do with an update - the skin on chips were dreadful

Transported back to the 6th century with King Arthur, his excalibur, surrounded by his nights in his castle! Loved the ambience, food, attention to detail, and friendly staff. Restaurants were closed. No water at night because of the problem they have the water pump.
