My stay at Rainbow Hotel Myeongdong was amazing! I came on a family vacation from Texas, and everything about this hotel was just right. The location is perfect (it's right in the middle of Myeongdong) and super close to public transportation, so it was really easy for us to get around and explore Seoul. There are tons of shops and restaurants nearby too, which was super convenient. The hotel itself was clean, cozy, and comfortable. We didn’t have any problems at all during our stay. They also provide a small breakfast (which was simple but totally fine) Mr. Kim was especially kind and helpful (he really went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed). His friendly attitude made us feel so welcome and added something special to the trip. Overall, we had a great experience here. The hotel is in a great spot, it’s affordable, and the staff are really nice. I would totally recommend this place to anyone visiting Korea (especially first-timers). We’d definitely stay here again! And thank you Mr. Kim for making our trip amazing!

The hotel is clean , bright and Airy. Location is perfect for tourist who wants to explore Seoul . Very near to amenities, restaurant and train station. Perfect location. Mr. Kim is very accommodating and helpful ,He goes above and beyond for his customers, For a first time tourist in korea, it's reassuring to know that you have him to ask if need any help.

Everything was perfect in my experience in this hotel

Location was excellent. Metro station was nearby. There were restaurants and grocery shops around. Mr.Kim(owner) was very friendly and always maintain cleanliness. He offered us a free tour to watch Banpo bridge light show. But we refused as we had plans for the day. Face tissues, Towels, hangers, and other cleaning substances were available at any time. Most importantly water was available at anytime for free.

Room was quiet small as we had three luggage. Mattress was hard to sleep. Room AC was switched off. Owner said it is because of government rules in spring. There was a tiny window for ventilation yet without AC it was quiet horrible. For breakfast there were only bread, eggs and orange juice. Rooms are not sound proofed. There was a building site next to hotel and we got disturbed by the sound. We booked two rooms next to each other. But one was in the second floor and other in 4th floor. And there was no elevator.

Rainbow Hotel is conveniently located just a 2-min walk away from the Chungmuro subway station. There’s also a bunch of cafes, bars and eateries in the surrounding area. It sounds like it would be on a noisy street but it was quiet! The neighboring guests were also quiet. The rooms are promoted as soundproof and I didn’t have any issues with noise, though I also stayed here on a couple of weeknights. Mr. Kim (I think that was his name? the owner or manager?) was the highlight of my stay. I had lost my plush doll, which I foolishly kept in the outside pocket of my backpack so it must have fallen out. He went out of his way to check the CCTV footage to track down where it was. It had fallen out of my bag at the main entrance and a guest, who happened to be in the room right next door to mine, had picked it up and saved it! The plushie means a lot to me so I was thankful to both Mr. Kim and the guest for being so kind to help me! Other reviews give Mr. Kim a tough time but he’s doing his job of enforcing rules that keep the place clean and keep the peace. As a business owner, I get that. I found him very helpful and at times funny as he cracked a couple of jokes. Just be very patient and use Google Translate for anything beyond basic small talk!

The photos on the website are not representative of the actual accommodations. It’s your basic hostel with all private rooms and a shared kitchen on the fifth floor. The rooms are tiny but clean. If you’re a solo traveler and just need a place to rest your head and shower while sightseeing during the day, this will do just fine. I saw a couple of pairs of friends who stayed here though and I’m not sure how they made it work!

great location, about 300 metres from the nearest train station which is chungmuro station (line 3 & 4). mr kim, (the owner) was so kind and helpful to us. the room has a private bathroom, heated bed and tv. the space was kinda tight for two people but in terms of money, it’s worth the cost! all in all, we enjoyed our stay there.

It is a typical korean Hotel in that price range. What really stood out to me, however, was the exceptional service provided by the hotel manager. We lost our key and the Manager drove 1 hour to get it back. Also he didn’t give us a fee for loosing it! Koreans are super helpful and forthcoming. The Hotel itself such as the room was super clean and comfortable. We had everything that we needed. I like the fact that you always have free water. Furthermore, it is in a central location and the Metro stations chungmuro amd Myeongdong are super. Also there are a lot of good restaurants, shopping facilities and Streetfood around the place.

Very helpful host

It was a place to shower and sleep. The AC worked and the room was comfortable. It fit my needs. but a ten would maybe give teh wrong impression 8 seems fair.

Its basic very basic and for short stays. Room are small the toilet even smaller but clean. Mr Kim the manager is super helpful , he helped me lug my suitcase

There is no breakfast per se so fend for yourself but there are many cafes around Its in an alley so can be noisy Also check in time is 3 so even if you arrive early there is no one at the reception to greet you

The hotel is really well located, central in Seoul, near metro-stops and streets with restaurants, bars and streetfood markets. (But the street from the hotel is quiet at night.) The owner/manager is super friendly. The rooms are small but clean and with proper windows with an insect-screen. Probably one of the best budget options in the city! Excellent price quality!
