Everything was absolutely wonderful. Hostal Girona is located on a quiet street in a centralized location. It’s located on the upper floors of a gorgeous historical building from 1888. From the moment you walk in, the expansive, marble staircase, the original building elevator and the intricate design features are enough to impress even the most amateur of architectural geeks. Hostal Girona impressively blends the original 19th century design with luxurious modern upgrades. My room was beautiful, peaceful and inviting. The Juliet balcony was adorable and a nice place to relax on a warm evening. As for the amenities, the bed was comfortable, the linens and towels were clean, the communal space was well tended to, and most importantly, the AC worked even during the worst of the Spanish heatwave :) I feel so lucky I found Hostal Girona! I highly recommend!

Location, perfect accommodations- comfortable, having a balcony to look out and sit , private bathroom and ac! Loved the traditional Spanish building and the elevator which we used when we had heavy luggage although you can take the stairs also. After a hot day of site seeing, beach venturing out it was so nice to come back to the room. Every morning a continental breakfast that was more than sufficient. Do not be fooled when you see Hostal- they have private accommodations that are very nice and not your standard hostel group settling when you traveled as a teen. I highly recommend and would stay here again

If I had to say I didn’t like something it would be the pillow options.- I am particular and it is not easy to accommodate everyone’s taste in pillow but I got a decent sleep every night

We were delighted with our stay at Hostel Girona. It was special to be in this beautiful old building, kept as original as possible. Even the elevator was a joyful experience! The hotel staff were welcoming & some things added to the sense of hospitality. We have been travelling for over 5 weeks & there have been few that have had tea, coffee & hot chocolate available any time. HG even had delicious lemon cake available left over from their breakfast spread. The room was lovely & the little balcony a nice surprise. Bed was very comfortable great. There is nothing we didn't like. A wonderful stay & memory of this special hostal.

Unfortunately the water took a long time to warm up & it seemed awful to waste water with the dry, hot conditions but once heated the shower temperature & pressure was great. Perhaps the age of the building is a reason for the long time for water to heat up.

Simple room in historic building. Breakfast was sweet and savory. AC worked well. We had the room with the little enclosed terrace which was charming. Elevator/lift was fun to ride up. Staff were helpful. They called a cab the morning we left. A little off the grid from the touristy old city center, but close enough to walk.

It’s an old building so I can understand the upkeep is continuous. The door handle fell off when unlocking our room but I was able to put it back in, and notified the host. The bathroom floor was a little dirty, needs a good mopping. Otherwise our stay was ok.

I really enjoyed this hotel. The location is convenient, with a metro station nearby, making it easy to get to all the main tourist attractions. If you prefer, you can also walk - everything is relatively close to the hotel. The building, entrance, and the room itself are works of art. Daily cleaning, very clean, comfortable bed and mattress, blackout curtains, and a large balcony. The breakfasts are delicious and generous. However, there are no vegetables at all. But the traditional potato pie, cheeses, jamón, and delicious pastries are in abundance. I read that many complained about thin walls and noise, but I can say we were lucky - our neighbors were quiet and pleasant.

Cosy room in a beautiful building, it was perfect for a night stay to relax. The staff was lovely and super communicative before my arrival and during my stay and the after-hours check in process easy and well-explained. I loved the breakfast options, the lovely common area, and how well-equipped my room was. A bit pricey but considering the general prices around the city, I think I got really lucky with this one and would definitely go back!

Not a major problem as I understand it is an old building with its quirks, so there was no soundproofing and I could hear the other guests moving around the common areas - however I really didn’t mind. If you are a light sleeper you might want to bring some earbuds

The building itself feels like walking into some sort of time capsule. The room was just lovely and had a homely feel to it, the best bit being the little sunroom area. It was a great location, everything was pretty much within a 20-30 walk/public transport journey which is super handy especially in the warm weather. The bed was really comfortable and we both slept great. Having control over the air conditioning in the room was nice, too. I also liked how secure we were with codes needed to the main entrance and then again once upstairs to access where the rooms are and each room had one physical key that only unlocked that particular room.

Staff were very pleasant and helpful. It is situated in a beautiful charming building tastefully decorated in keeping with the period it was built. It is in a great location. The room was perfect, large with a very comfortable bed also a shower and sink. There is a lovely communal dining room with a coffee machine. Breakfast was perfect with a wide range of items. I shared a bathroom with 1 other guest. The bathroom was large and very clean and well stocked with everything needed. Everything was scruptiously clean.

Nothing to dislike great place!

The location was great within walking distance to the places I planned to go. I couldn’t have the breakfast, left too early every day - so missed meeting anyone else over a meal. Everyone was nice, and happy. The staff were excellent and helpful with everything! I was intrigued by the historical notes and the charm of the building. I was expecting the entrance but came to find it quite captivating with the bicycles inside and the guests coming and going.

Would have been better with some circulation in the room. The window was to a narrow cavity - no sun, no breeze. Might I suggest a sheet also in the bed, not just the comforter duvet?

The historical building itself and its location made our stay a perfect one and complete one. We loved the property entrance most specifically the old lift which allows you to experience the property's charm and character. The room is not too large however it's vintage vibes and amenities made it just as wonderful. We strongly recommend the hostal's breakfast which includes all that you would except in Barcelona (jamon, cheese, spanish omelete, pan con tomtate and croissants and pastries). The location of the property is very central and in close proximity of other attractions, both by walk as well as through use of buses and metro.
