Central location walking distance to all major sites. Liked the square outside the hotel door with many bars & restaurants nearby. Spacious bedroom with good sized bathroom shower was brilliant as was the hairdryer (more powerful than other hotels I have stayed in). Self service breakfast was lovely with lots of choice & a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Our only fault …. My friend & I would have like tea/coffee making facility in the bedroom especially as the one located outside the breakfast room was out of order.

If you are looking for a swanky hotel then don't stay here. If, on the other hand, you want somewhere that's reasonably priced in the centre of Madrid then this place will do just nicely. The location was great, you can walk everywhere from here but there is a metro nearby if you want it. The area is pretty much pedestrianised which means it's quiet and away from the madness of the traffic in other parts of the city. The room was perfectly clean and the reception is staffed 24 hours by staff with good English. I didn't have the breakfast so can't comment on that but have no complaints about my stay here.

Hostal Persal is a charming hotel located right in the heart of Madrid’s historic center, making it ideal for exploring the city. Surrounded by numerous cafes and restaurants, the location is vibrant, and main attractions, the metro, and suburban trains are all within easy reach. The room I stayed in was spacious, providing a comfortable stay, and the cozy lobby offered a great spot to work or relax.

The breakfast was decent, though it had limited vegan and vegetarian options, which could be expanded. Additionally, some rooms face narrow inner courtyards, so not all have views.

I've stayed at Hostal Persal three times over the past decade, and it has become my go-to choice whenever I travel to Madrid. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, and the rooms are always comfortable and impeccably clean. The location is perfect—just a short walk from Sol and Plaza Mayor, with plenty of great tapas bars nearby. The adjacent restaurant is also highly recommended. I'm certain I'll be returning again!

Great price considering the location and services. I believe it is worthy 60/70€ per person to be in such nice location. The hotel has a vintage vibe, and while the corridors might look a bit claustrophobic and the rooms and bathroom are not very spacious, it was very clean and had reception 24h. Staff was very friendly.

The door cannot be closed on the inside, so I wasn't sure whether at night it was well closed or not. You can hear a bit of noice from nearby rooms.

I really like this hotel in Madrid. Have been there twice. Staff very nice and accommodating. Excellent breakfast buffet. Very well-situated and excellent price. Staff held an extra piece of luggage for about ten days as I was travelling through Spain so it was there when I got back to Madrid. When I got to the hotel - there was an issue with the lock on my door and it was fixed immediately. The rooms are small but that is not uncommon in big cities and the price is right on point. My rooms have been cozy and have all you need. Nice sitting area downstairs in the main lobby and in dining area.

This time, the mattress in my room was rather hard.

Great location, very kind staff, and the rooms are good, but the pillows are as hard as rocks, and the curtains do not block light well, which is very much needed during summer days. Our room at the end of the hall was pretty quiet.

The hotel was in middle of everything, and the staff was very friendly.

The internet was unusable and disappeared frequently. The walls and doors were very thin and you felt like your neighbors were inside with you.

Location is excellent, visible at the end of C. de EspozyMina entry on Sol Plaza. Important since Metro line 1 (M1) from Atocha to Sol is closed and you need to take the RENFE to Sol instead. On Pl. de Angel next to Plaza de Santa Ana is a great locations. Great breakfast

Rooms are tight and noisy but this is a older hotel and the rest of the services are good.

I liked the friendly staff and the room. It had all the necessary things. Cleaning of the room was done daily and everyone who worked in the hotel was eager to help and answer all the questions I had. The location was great as well.

I would diversify the breakfast a bit, maybe add an omelette or tortilla de patatas :)) Short visits to the room shouldn't be a problem imho.
