This was, from an American's point of view, a very small room. However, it was so cleverly designed that I'm rating it very highly. It was perfect for a person who was primarily going to spend his time outside being a tourist (as I was - and did), and it had every amenity that I needed: television, air conditioning, multiple power sockets (you do need a converter, but I had one, so they were great), and a very good bathroom. Its location, unknown to me until I arrived and figured out Madrid, was incredible - about thirty feet (10 meters, give or take) from the plaza called the Puerta del Sol, which is literally the center of Madrid. It was extremely clean, the staff were polite, even friendly, but non-intrusive. It was a *lot* for the price. If I ever go to Madrid again, I will try to book here.

The only change I would make is to the shower. The bottom should be grippier; I constantly worried about slipping in the shower, and did once, but only slightly because I was so careful. Also, the shower was narrow enough that the shower curtain kept sticking to my skin. Somehow it needs to be different, but I am not sure how. I would change nothing else.

Very noisy, even with windows shut and as with all hotels, could hear adjacent room noises. Finding room not so easy as the accommodation spreads over 3 sections of the same block. I.e there were 3 entrances from the street but only 2 could be accessed by ringing the bell so it was a long walk (up to the 5th floor, then down to 3rd floor by walking through a few corridors ) However, there was a lift.

Comfortable room with a window that allowed for air circulation. We had no problems with noise at night, but weren t facing the street so that may have made a difference? Great location and we walked everywhere. If you are a very big person the bathroom is quite a small space. We managed fine but might not, if we continue to eat too much of the fabulous Spanish food :o) The room was kept very clean.

Tiny bathroom a little hard to navigate. A shelf in bathroom would be good for toiletries and wall hooks where possible for damp clothing and towels.

This accomodation is located right next to Puerta del Sol, in the heart of Madrid's city center. The location is ideal. If you are driving, you will need to park at a parking garage about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. During off-hours, like evenings and weekends, the key to the garage may be obtained from Hostal Victoria III (there are three chains of this hotel, they are all connected). You'll need to provide a deposit of 20€ to get the key to the garage. The staff are very friendly and accomodating. This sounds cliche, but I really mean it. For example, I went down to ask one attendant about where to find a good ATM to withdraw cash. She was rather busy in the moment, but turned to her computer to research. I told her not to worry about it and left, but she called back to the room a few minutes later with a list of three banks that have low ATM fees and high exchange rates. Wow. We ended up having to extend our stay due to one of our group having a medical issue. They were able to get us rooms for the remainder of our stay. Diana, Ivana and Tiho were all very helpful and kind. We truly enjoyed our stay because of them. Next time we come to Madrid, we will definitely choose this hotel again, as long as it's available.

Great location, great price, nice staff.

The single room was really small, barely enough room to walk around with my suitcase on the floor. The bed was hard and uncomfortable--the worst bed of my whole trip--did not sleep well. The hallways are a labernyth--to get to my room on the 3rd floor I had to take an elevator to the 5th, walk down a long, winding hallway, down stairs to the 4th, another long and winding hallway, then walk down another flight of stairs to get to the 3rd floor, another long and winding hallway to room 305--very confusing and easy to get lost!

The location was perfect!!! It is within walking distance of so many things- the Royal Palace, puerta del sol, Retiro Park, Plaza Mayor, many, many restaurants and shops. Victoria II was attractive and clean and had a very friendly staff at the desk 24/7.

I didn’t realize the balcony was big enough for just one person to stand on. However, that was my lack of knowledge of the typical buildings in the area. The high traffic of people outside may be an issue, but it was fine for us.

I like the location, Victorian style, historic building, wooden stairs, friendly staff.

I'd like to discuss an issue with my room. I was not informed prior to check-in that this room would have no balcony and a no window view. For the price I'm paying, this is disappointing. I believe rooms with these limitations should either be discounted or clearly described during the booking process so guests can make informed decisions. it does feel like a lottery

Excellent location, view from 4th floor on illuminated Sol. Room 402 with easy access by lift. Wide 130cm bed for this single room. Sun in room at daytime. Colder in evening and nights but airco heats up when needed. Good bed and hot shower (in bath). Small refrigerator for self bought food and drinks. Metro Sol at 50 mtr, Plza Mayor at 200 m. Such a good room and location for the money.

With normal neighbors guests the stay is excellent. With neighbors who set the tv loud or who come home loud talking and laughing, the rumors can be annoying. I had luckely easy going guests next to me.

This was a great location, great staff that was accommodating and very clean. I appreciated the AC in the middle of summer and the fan in the bathroom as well as the balcony.

The beds were nice but a little on the harder side. The rooms are very small but I imagine most are that close to the center.

The location is central, major sightseeing points are reachable within walking distances, well-connected to the public transportation system. In the hotel is cleaning daily, check-out at 12, luggage storage is possible. Elevator is available. Very comfortable beds, simple furniture, everything is clean and best prepared, enough space to move. We would book this hotel for the next visit.
