Nice location near Puerta del Sol. Easy walk to everywhere in old Madrid.

Very happy until the adjacent room became occupied. Walls are not sound-proofed and could hear everything as if sharing a bed with a snoring stranger. Had a slight panic when we could not open our room safe box to retrieve travel documents before leaving. Box was broken and only able to be opened with master key from staff. Front desk not manned 24 hours so do not wait too late to open room safe!

The location is great. Close to everything. The hotel was only a short block away from a plaza surrounded by various eateries and fronting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. On 09/16/2024 we were treated to a big surprise to see the king of Spain, King Felipe VI came out of the building (after a meeting with foreign dignitary) and proceeded to his limousine in front of his Royal Guard Squadron on horse back. Definitely, a highlight of our 1st ever Madrid visit.

The other couple who supposed to stay with us didn't make is due to health emergency. The wife could not make it all the way to complete our 14 days cruise. She had to disembarked the ship to go to hospital due to health. The hotel didn't allow me to revised our booking from 4 people to only 2 because we just missed the cancellation date for 1 day. We did not want to cancel, we only wanted to revised but completely denied.

The location was excellent and in a quiet area. Taxi was able to find the place easily. We were able to walk everywhere safely. Lots of choices in area for food. 2 mini marts across the road. One large variety store on the corner that you could get pretty much anything you needed. The bathroom and shower were clean and had good water pressure. Handy to have an elevator and the building is clean and has good safety protocols. Staff whilst not the friendliest were responsive to any queries and requests.

Not much in the way of bathroom amenities. Just a soap dispenser. The bed was reasonably comfortable but had a slight dip on one side. Did not cause too much discomfort. Interestingly they provide 1 long pillow which is not the easiest to deal with for 2 people. A request for another was provided the next day. The refrigerator was not in the room as advertised but again once requested was provided the next day. The room was so much smaller than pictures. Have paid less for better sized rooms.

The location is great, the staff communicated ahead of time via WhatsApp, which was great for scheduling arrival and asking questions ahead of time. They allowed me to keep my bags with them after checkout. I would have stayed another night but when I asked they said it is 165$, which was a price jump from before.

The walls are paper thin, could hear talking and sneezing from another room. Although they had the fridge in the room, because receptacles are operated by the door key, when I left the fridge was turned off, which made it difficult to keep my medication cold.

Perfect location on a quiet, small, pedestrianised street. Easy check-in. Even though we didn't arrive until after midnight because of the power cuts, there was someone on the reception desk to welcome us. The shower was spacious and good pressure. The bed was comfortable. There was a small fridge in the room and tea and coffee facilities.

Only one long pillow for two people. It wasn't comfortable.

Location was the best, walking distance to the center. There’s a 24-hour convenience store nearby and less than 5 mins to get to the Plaza. The room has basic amenities, you will also hear the people outside in the morning— those coming from partying. Other than that we were very happy with the location. Btw, this room comes with a double deck at the other side of the room, TV with Netflix and they have a microwave at the floor.

I will be staying here again. I have stayed at many hotels over the years. Hostel Castilla II is one of the Hotels that is most attuned to the wishes of their guests. 1. Need directions to the Hostel? How about a pin for a google map? 2. Unsure about whether you have reached the right place? How about photos of the front entrance of the Hostel? 3. Do you need transportation to the airport? Here are your best options…and …here is the website to order tickets. 4. Do you need a taxi for an early morning flight? No problem, we will enter a request in our system, just be outside the front door. 5, Need to leave when our front desk is closed? Just place the key in the room and close the door.

As all accommodations in Spain, paper thin walls are no exception here. However, there were no parties, loud babies, or noise in the streets in the middle of the night

The location was excellent- very near Sol metro and Plaza Mayor. The rooms were clean and quiet. We needed to order an item from Amazon during our stay, and before we could go to the desk to obtain it, the staff brought it to our room!

One minor issue was that the shower drained slowly. Didn’t really cause any problems though.

Great location. Friendly & helpful staff (Jenny). Safe in room was helpful for leaving documents & other items while going around Madrid. Nice having an electric kettle for heating water for instant coffee or tea. The mini fridge was good to have also.

Only negative was the cleaners didn’t remove a partially eaten package of ham out of the mini fridge from a previous guest. Bed was hard for my daughter. I loved it!

The hostel is in excellent location, it is a few minutes walk from Plaza Mayor. Or though the room was small (my own economy choice) it was very clean. I had my own bathroom, fridge, safe, air conditioning, TV, Wi-Fi. Staff is nice and helpful. Also grocery shop Dia is just near by. Definitely recommend for budget oriented traveler who just needs to spend a few nights in the very center. They have rooms for different budgets also.
