An absolutely perfect stay! I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Moderno Puerta del Sol, and I can honestly say it was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Everything was simply perfect—from the location to the service, and especially the cleanliness. I travel quite frequently, but I haven’t seen a hotel this spotless in a long time. Every corner was impeccably maintained, which made my stay even more comfortable. One of the highlights of my visit was meeting Venasa. We had such great conversations—she was incredibly warm, engaging, and genuinely cared about making my stay special. Her kindness and enthusiasm truly stood out. But in reality, the entire staff was amazing—friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with anything I needed. Their hospitality made me feel so welcome and at home. If you’re looking for a hotel in Madrid that excels in cleanliness, service, and atmosphere, look no further. I can’t recommend Hotel Moderno Puerta del Sol enough, and I will definitely be returning in the future!

The room was great. Not big but by no means cramped. We requested a mini-fridge before we arrived and it was in the room when we got there. Both a water kettle with instant coffee/tea and a Nespresso machine with new pods daily. The large terrace outside was wonderful and such a huge perk. Despite some other reviews we were never bothered by any noise from other rooms, but it's possible we just didn't have anyone in the room next to us during our stay. It was likely also helpful that in our slightly larger room we had 2 entryway doors—one into the room from the hall and then another from the entryway with the closet into the actual bedroom area. There were shutters on the windows too, so perfectly dark til you want to get up. Breakfast (which we took advantage of twice) was basic but adequate, and we thought quite reasonably priced overall. Perfect for those days you either sleep in and want to get out quickly or have a bigger day/trip planned and just need something quick, which in either case you're paying more for convenience than a luxurious spread. The staff were great and always helpful. They received several packages for me and also held one to be picked up by a courier. Everyone we encountered were warm and pleasant. Also, just about everything is easily walkable from Puerta Del Sol. I'm not sure you could find a better location for a vacation to Madrid.

This is kind of random, but one night we had some food garbage that I wanted to make sure wouldn't attract bugs, and when I asked the front desk how to dispose of it the guy (albeit in a very friendly manner) actually pointed me to a dumpster outside—at 11pm, in the rain, while I was in a nightgown. Weird, but not a huge deal.

We had wonderful time in Madrid and the location of the hotel is so comfortable. The two ladies at the check in was amazing and super friendly. They made us feel welcome.

I wanted to upgrade the room to twin beds, and was told to it through booking.com, which I did try. The upgrade cost an extra 20 Euros. I was not able to do on that day because of data and location problems. When I tried the next day the cost went up to 130 Euros, which I just could not afford because of budget constraints, which means my daughter and I had to share a double bed in a much smaller room. The cleaning of the rooms was also done very late, so many days we just asked them not to clean the room.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was clean, comfortable with all the amenities needed. Especially the bathroom impressed us. The breakfast was amazing, much better than what we had anticipated. The hotel is located at the heart of Puerta del Sol and it's walking distance to Museo del Prado and many other attractions. We had the 6th floor comfort room with a terrace and it was very quiet despite being in the center of the city. We'd definitely stay there again.

The reception is very basic though, very small so when guests need to check in there's barely anywhere to sit. Other than that, we give a thumbs up.

Loved the central location. It was all I expected. I liked the option of having breakfast when I wanted and there was quite a good choice. Only the coffee was no good. Loved the fresh oranges provided as fruit but there were no more bananas. The honey dew and watermelon were sweet. There was a good variety of tea to choose from and I enjoyed my tea. The room had 4 beds for the three of us so there was ample space..loved the clean white sheets and the immaculate towels with embossed logos. Classy! So near to everything. Good tea coffee making facility.

It would have been perfect if there was a mini fridge for drinks etc. I had expected one as most of my hotels had that facility. The lift was small just enough to squeeze in 5 persons like sardines. No, nothing else I didn’t like. But my friend ended up having lumpy pillows and she tried those from the empty bed but they were too flat for her.

The location is fantastic—it is in the center of the world! You can come to your hotel for all your needs while walking around Puerta del Sol. The room was smaller than I expected and had no views, but it was so clean and comfortable that I had a good night's rest. Once you get off the bus from the airport, you can walk to your hotel on a fantastic boulevard. After you arrive at the hotel, you do not need any transportation to see the best attraction points in Madrid, although you have the metro station right outside the hotel. Hotel Moderno will be my choice again for my next visit to Madrid.

Amazing location, literally in the heart of Madrid. Can walk everywhere, also there is a metro nearby. The room was spacious enough for us and the terrace was large! Check in and check out was easy. Room was very clean and they offer daily housekeeping services if wanted. Taxi drop off and pick up is about 1 minute walk away as the hotel is located in the city center area not accessible to cars.

terrible smell from the bathroom drain that would stink up the whole room if the bathroom door was left open or bathroom window was not cracked all day. nauseating smell that should be checked out!

I can’t emphasise enough how ideal the location is. We arrived from the airport by taxi. We paid a flat rate of 30 euro. We didn’t spend any additional fees for transportation for the next 3 days. We walked to all tourist sites, cafes, bars and shops. The day we departed we just took the train, which was a two minute walk, to go to Atocho Station and grab the train to Seville. The size of the room was small but sufficient. It was clean. The staff was friendly and informative. The breakfast was plentiful.

The only thing I would have liked is a mini fridge.

The location is great as it is central and easy access to the Metro station , Sol. Easy to get around, walkable and close to the historic sites, The Bear on a tree, KM "0", Cathedral de Almudena, Plaza Mayor, Mercado San Miguel and a lot more tourist spots and restaurants . Safe and the hotel is quiet even if there are lots of people at the plaza, singing, dancing etc, you wont be bothered with the crowd noise as it is well insulated and you can barely hear the crowd noise below.

Nothing as it met our expectation and happy with our stay. We walked at night and we felt safe and was able to go to Gran Via area while just walking around.

The location.Just off Puerta del Sol was perfect.Close to everything within walking distance and the Sol Metro station for trips further away. It was surprisingly quiet in the room as the street below is traffic free and there are shops directly below but no bars or cafes.With the French windows closed the room was very quiet. All the reception staff were super friendly in a natural way unfortunately I didn’t make a note of the girls names.The girl who worked on Friday night booked me a flamenco show. There was an accident at Chamartín Station and all trains from there had been cancelled.I only found out at Midnight on Sunday.I was due to get a train from there to Valencia the following day.I went down to see the nightporter called Carlos who looked my train details up on the RENFE site and phoned a 24 hr phone number for me which had a recorded message.I had looked online at the railway timetable and all RENFE trains were cancelled and other operators trains were sold out.Carlos reassured me that RENFE would sort me out either laying on buses or alternative routes.The girl with glasses on Monday morning was exceptionally helpful and phoned RENFE who confirmed that my train was now running.

The two tea bags left daily in the room was not generous.I will bring my own the next time I stay. Breakfast was ok with fresh fruit and juices and a decent selection but the scrambled eggs which are my favourite and was looking forward to them were a bit lumpy but good value I guess at €12
