The location was perfect, all the most interesting and recommended places to visit in Madrid were just 20-25 minutes away on foot. The service was fantastic, the rooms and the hotel were super clean. What comes in handy for tourists and you don't find in other hotels was the scale at the reception to weigh your suitcases, which helps you leave calmly at the airport :). Would I recommend it? Ultimately yes, a hotel that is worth it in all the aspects mentioned above. If I were to visit Madrid again, Hostal Madrid is certainly the option I would choose without a doubt.

I have nothing to say because everything was great.

The staff were super friendly and helpful both in communications before and during our stay. We liked the swipe app to access our rooms from our phones. The room was as expected and functional, the bed comfy. Cleanliness was good. The location was perfect - right in the heart of the city, easily walkable to main attractions and a metro nearby.

We would have liked an additional larger bin in the room (there's a small one in the bathroom).

The hostal is exactly centro.so close to everything. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was clean and well maintained with a fantastic shower a little tight to get in but great water pressure and hot.A handy 24 hr coffee shop underneath with decent coffee. Value for the money

Only down side was being a room facing the street we had a great street view but that comes with noise.light sleepers beware of garbage trucks 2 am, and people talking up until 3 am proviso it was Friday/Saturday nights.

The location is unbeatable, you're steps away from the Plaza Mayor. The staff work hard to make sure you are taken care of, that the room is clean, the bed is comfy, and that everything is in working order. We actually had to move rooms, as there was a slight issue with the room above ours, but they upgraded us. The bathrooms are a little on the small size, and the furnishing is sparse, but overall, we were happy with the experience. They do hold your bags after check-out which is a lovely bonus. Super modern room key system, which we enjoyed.

Room size tends to be a little smaller, and the furnishings are all clean but sparse. The elevator is tiny, so if you have a large bag, and multiple people in your party, you're going to have to go 1 by 1. But that's only really relevant for check out and checking in.

Staff were super friendly when we arrived and suffered my schoolboy Spanish :-) , all the staff I dealt with also spoke good English. The room was very comfortable and the location is fantastic close to Puerto del Sol and Plaza Mayor and the transport links. It is also only a about a 15 min walk to Gran Via and The Prado museum. I would definitely recommend the hotel and would happily stay here again.

Not the hotel's fault but the rooms at the front can be a little noisy, I was pleased I took some ear plugs as I'm a light sleeper.

The location is great and rooms are clean. The hotel is in the middle of the main touristic area of Madrid. All the staff members were excellent and very helpful. Special thanks to Jihane our front desk contact who was super kind and helpful. She masters so many languages and it seems that all guests loved her. She is knowledgeable about what Madrid has to offer so just ask her any question and she will be very happy to help. Jihane made our stay a very comfortable one. I'd definitely go back there!

All the staff were brilliant and were more than happy to assist us with queries. The location was superb being right on the door step of Sol Square / Metro Station while not being noisy. The room was comfortable with good air conditioning and cleaned daily. After checkout you can leave bags in a locked storage room till 8pm for free which was very helpful as we had an evening flight. If we returned to Madrid would definitely stay here again

We've stayed at the Hostal Madrid already a couple of times over the last years - it is in a great location, and the rooms are impeccably clean. The rooms are not very big / a little smallish in size, but absolutely fine since one spends most of the time outside exploring Madrid anyway. AC and Wifi both worked very well in our room. I'd also like to give a special mention to the staff - they are very friendly, and made us feel welcome right away. We're definitely planning to stay here again when coming to Madrid. (When coming by car, the easiest is to park at "Jacinto Benavente" parking garage, from there it is only a couple of minutes walk to the hotel)

Our friends mentioned hearing some noise during the night (garbage trucks passing through the street), but we slept right through it and did not hear anything (altough we were in an exterior room) - I imagine it depends on how sensitive to noise one is (I think there are also rooms that don't face the street available). I was a bit surprised by the new system of doing the check-in online before arriving (to save time during the actual check-in process), did not do it, and it was no problem at all to do the full check-in at the hotel.

Good price for this location that I wanted to stay in. Staff spoke English. It was clean although the bathroom was tiny & they just had a tiny bar of soap for the sink & then 2 *packets* of shower gel & shampoo. The only garbage can was the tiny metal kind with foot pedal/lid in bathroom.

Seems booking.com shows pics of the prettier rooms. Mine is not shown here. **must have WhatsApp on your phone & *active* in order to get in the front door & your room. No keys, key cards or punching in codes for access*

We liked that the reception was opened when we arrived around 10pm and that Jihan was extremely helpful. She spoke to us în English, French and Arabic, which was delightful. The next day we met Melissa and John, two other helpful and kind employees who take their hospitality jobs seriously. Bravo! . We felt looked after. We were happy that there was a lift as we had a 20kg suitcase to get to the upper floor. We also liked that despite the hotel being near Puerta del Sol, the room was quiet and we slept well.

There was nothing that we didn't like.
