Exceptionally clean, comfortable room, perfect location. Tiny single room but it has everything you need. Loved the small but modern bathroom. Also the vending machine on the floor was very handy to have. I would definitely stay here again.

It could get loud. Not from the street, but from inside the building, you could hear every door opening and closing, etc. The host was a lovely and friendly lady, but unfortunately she didn't speak a word of English or any other language than Spanish. But she tried her best. For example I wanted to ask if I could store my bag for a few hours after checkout (my flight was late at night), but knowing that it would have been impossible to understand each other, I had to take it with me and drag it around Madrid the whole day long.

The room was extremely clean. I always stayed at 5 star hotels around the world and I didn't expected that this small hotel could provide real clean rooms. The bed and sheets and towels was so clean. This is very important for me. They provide two sets of towels while I was one person and I saw other places only provide one set when you are one person. The other thing was curtains that were clean. In many hotels while the bed is clean but they don't pay attention to curtains while in Hostal Mayor the curtains were so clean like home! The wardrobe and floor also been so clean. The bathroom were washed good and was clean also. The location of Hotel is fantastic! It can not be better than that!

The only thing was that the air-conditioner of my room didn't work correctly. The weather wasn't so hot and I am a person that normally don't use it but if it was at winter or summer it was intolerable. The reception provide me an electrical cooler but because of its sound I turned it off during night and instead opened the window that has sound from outside. I expected that they check all these things before my stay! I checked in at 18:30 at Tuesday so they had enough time to fix it!

Great and convenient location! As to be expected, the street is quite busy so it gets noisy - would recommend bringing some ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper. The lady who runs the place is lovely - no English, but communicating was definitely doable with google translate and gestures. I also think that when in Spain, it shouldn’t be up to locals to speak our language!

No coffee or tea making facilities in the room, but there is a vending machine where you can buy snacks, cold drinks and coffee at a very reasonable price. Cash only.

The location was a top spot, within walking distance all places of interest. Very friendly reception lady who offered to clean the room every day. The room was modest but clean. Old timey building with a cool hydraulic elevator.

It was a bit noisy but it was expected to be like that since it is a very busy area all day and night. It didn't bother us but it needs to be noted as some people may not like it.

The property is super well located - in the heart of the action. It made it easy to wander around and get back easily. The room was small, but plenty big for myself as a solo traveller, and very clean. It was equipped with a mini split air conditioning unit which cooled the space quickly enough to be comfortable. The room gave onto Calle Mayor and had a small balcony to take in the action should you choose to do so from above.

The property is hard to find at first. The signage is minimal, and the elevator was a bit sketchy looking (turns out it works great - it helps you avoid the 77 stairs). The shower was really small. Like borderline too small, but it got the job done. One thing that would have been nice is some tourist maps to be able to grab and go to get situated. Easy solve since there are tourist kiosks peppered about.

Host is super attentive, location is awesome, place was clean and there is an elevator in the building. I'll certainly come back. Everything is steps away, food, ATM, metro stations, stores, I loved it. Also, it didn't affect me personally but you can hear what's going on outside at night, if you are a light sleeper bring earplugs.

Prime location!!! 100 meters from Puerta del sol and public transport stations!! Very clean. We had a room with a balcony to the beautiful Mayor st. ! It was good to have the balcony bc the room is very small and claustrophobic. The hosts are very nice and helpful ( they don’t speak English but we communicated with google translate).

The location is perfect - no need for taxi to go around Plaza del Sol and Plaza Mayor. Added to it is that the taxi stand is practically in front of Hostal Mayor. Lots of food places nearby. There's an elevator which is very handy, and an air-conditioner. And there's Museo de Jamon on the street level. Can't go wrong with that.

Room was a little bit small, but that's what hostals are. Good enough for two.

Location is excellent, just next to Plaza Mayor and <5min walk from Sol metro station but it's not noisy at all. The room and washroom are very clean.

The reception lady is nice but can't speak English so you can't ask for help if needed. The sink is very small so the washroom floor is all wet after use.

Perfect location. Very nice staff.

There could have been a bigger or extra pillow in the bed. From time to time, it was a little cold in the room as the heating system was automatically switched off for periods. During these periods, the heat was completely gone from the radiator. The balcony needs renovation.
