Location, cleanliness, staff, breakfast, air con, value for money were all very very good, the breakfast was amazing, I would definitely recommend this stay, there are some lovely shops in the general area which is off a busy main road down a very quite side road, the botanical gardens are easily accessed by local bus or tuk tuk and is stunningly beautiful. It rained one night as I was going out and the owner gave me a brolly which was nice of him along with a room upgrade and I left my luggage there as I hired a scooter and headed North for a few days, all of this made my stay perfect.

Wifi was a little hit and miss but again with the owners assistance this was overcome. The location is a little hard to navigate but as a previous guest pointed out just look out for JB Paradise sign and that’s the road, easy once you know.

My City Hotel had the most welcoming of hosts, they even went out of their way to help celebrate my daughters 3rd birthday with us, making fresh orange juice and having their children join us to eat cake. She was delighted and it was such a special touch! The manager also helped us with our many questions about Kandys Esala Perahera that we were there to celebrate, and made sure our guide had a place to stay for the night too. We loved the quietness of the location amongst a very busy Kandy.

The wifi connection was very slow and it was a struggle to do anything other than send text messages.

We stayed only one night but everything was great. The host was very helpful and gave us plenty of useful information which improved our stay. During check in host served us with a delicious ice tea. The stairs weren’t a problem and even though our backpacks were heavy they took them from us and brought to our room which was at the 3rd floor! Room was very clean, the bed huge and soft. The pressure in the shower was a little low but the water was very hot so showers were really enjoyable. Breakfast had many varieties to choose from including local dishes. Definitely recommend!

Very friendly hosts, very helpful, very good English, delicious breakfast, nice house, very clean. Nice air condition. Close to the train Station which is very good. We had a nice stay 🙂👍

The location was not very central (maybe its also good because at night it was very quiet). But some Tuk Tuk drivers had difficulties to find the place, I had to help them using Google maps. Also there are two other hotels with similar name, so you have to make sure the Tuk Tuk driver is not confused 😄 The door from the shower was hard to open and made noise while opening.

The hotel was in a great location, tucked away from a busy street but close to everywhere you need. You could walk from KCC and get tuk tuks for a small fare too. The room was extremely clean, bright and comfortable. The staff were incredible!! Helpful before arrival, allowed us to leave our bags before checking in, helpful with all of our many questions while staying and then breakfast - wow! A huge portion with a high selection of food! We left stuffed and well fuelled for the day ahead. This is run by a beautiful family who made us feel so welcome.

Very clean and spacious room with a great view over Kandy (an actual photo from the room window is attached) and a super-comfortable bed. Nicely located just minutes away from the city center and the train station, and just far enough away from a busy street to make sure there's no noise coming through the windows. Super-helpful staff - the manager even helped me arrange the tickets for the Kandy-Ella train 1 month before arrival as it's kind of difficult to buy them without a local phone number, and every morning he would personally cook me a different breakfast based around traditional Sri Lankan cuisine (with enough food to feed at least 2 persons), as I just happened to be the only guest in the whole hotel at the time (the season was about to end). If you're coming to Kandy and looking for a place to stay, look no further.

The wall fixtures in the bathroom could use some tightening up, but nothing too serious, really. There was no power outlet anywhere near the desk to plug in my laptop - but when I mentioned this to the reception staff they had an extension cord delivered to the room almost instantly.

Very nice big, spacious and bright rooms, good for a family of 4. Quiet location in a noisy city. Everything worked fine, and we had a huge breakfast, that we really enjoyed. The owner has lived in Melbourne and speaks really good English and are very helpfull. Thank you for a very nice stay.

We came in a minibus and the road to the hotel from the main street is very narrow and a bit difficult to find, so maybe take a tuk tuk or walk from the main street to the hotel if you are in a big car, but it is possible to drive to the hotel entrance.

Great place, with friendly staff and a clean and tidy hotel at end of quiet street. It’s close to most attractions and the train station. Breakfast was a surprise feast of fresh juices, fruit, amazing French toast, and Sri Lankan specialties. Our deluxe double Room was comfortable with nice lighting and excellent wi-fi (fastest we’ve had in Sri Lanka)

Curtains could be a little darker, and second sleeping pillows would be nice addition. And maybe some more places to put things (hooks, table) in the extra space of room. Walk to and from train station was longer and less pleasant due to areas blocked by construction walls. Avoid tuktuks at school time traffic jams in Kandy!

Great hotel run by lovely family. We received a warm welcome and plenty of local advice. Our room was spacious and spotless and had everything we needed. Great shower, lovely hot water, water, welcome drink on arrival, great wifi plus TV if you want it. The breakfast was wonderful and huge. Lots of fresh fruit and sweet breads plus local dishes. The french toast was amazing. The location was excellent - a short walk to the city and lake plus close to the train station. Good restaurants nearby.

A great place to stay, set back from the main road so not too noisy, but perfectly located to walk into town and get to the train or bus stations. The owner and staff were so friendly and went above and beyond, upgrading my room for free and dropping us to the station in time for the morning train. The beds were very comfortable, bathroom was spotless and everything was clean. The welcome drink and breakfast were delicious with a lot of food. A home from home, and I'd definitely stay again if in Kandy!

A little noise from the road but always to be expected in Kandy! Everything was perfect.
