The location is quite central to shops, restaurants and sightseeing. Walking distance to the lake, the mall and market, and Temple of the Tooth. The rooms are also very clean and comfortable. Although this is a just a little off of a busy street, it is quiet. The family that runs the hotel are very informative and give great advice on what to do and best way to plan for activities.

We arrived via train to Kandy Station. The hotel is not that far but I suggest negotiating with one of the many tuk-tuk drivers at the station to go to the hotel. Kandy is busy and bustling. There is much to see and do. My City Hotel is set back (about 25m or so) from a busy road on its own no-through road (so no traffic). This enables the Hotel to both be central to city centre but still (surprisingly to us) quiet at night. A big plus! The hotel itself is family owned. It is compact, but bright and very clean. There are stairs, no lift. No outside area as such, as is commonplace with a city centre hotel. Greeted at reception and offered home made spiced chai ice-tea. Very nice. The room was larger than we anticipated: huge bed, functional en-suite, tea/coffee, A/C., Clean. No bar as such but there is one just over the (main) road ;) Easy but busy walk to the City centre, market and lake. We rang the same tuk-tuk driver for a Kandy tour the next day: very cheap and we saw everything we wanted to. All day. Bed was comfortable and quiet. Good sleep. Breakfast was a feast: smoothie, fruit, toast, cakes/muffins, eggs, a selection of Sri Lankan breakfast items, tea/coffee. (The owner saw me eating the curry and string hoppers 'Sri Lankan' style (fingers, right hand (there is cutlery)). He beamed a smile and went and brought me a different curry the staff was having! So nice!). So in summary, we were at My City Hotel for 2 nights and we think it is a great choice for central Kandy. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff are lovely.

We received a lovely warm welcome when we checked in and were able to get into the room after a long journey. The property is set down a side road which means it’s away from the busy road and traffic noise. The hotel put on a fantastic breakfast and encouraged us to try some traditional dishes and unique fruits which was great.

Not much really, was a good place to stay for one night.

Hotel run by a lovely family who were very warm, kind and attentive. They were always happy to help and give advice on our itinerary. The hotel itself is perfect, and has everything you need. A good shower, air con and a comfortable bed.

We had a fantastic stay at my city hotel. The owners were absolutely amazing – they truly went out of their way to help us and made us feel so welcome. The staff were all incredibly friendly and attentive. Our room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with excellent air conditioning and a great bathroom. One of the highlights was the delicious buffet breakfast served every morning – it was easily our favourite breakfast in Sri Lanka so far! We highly recommend staying here if you're visiting the area. Wonderful people, great service, and a perfect place to relax.

We stayed two nights in Kandy before catching THE train to Ella, and was so glad we stayed at My City Hotel! It was super clean and is a family-run business so you can see the pride they took in running the property. The location couldn’t have been more perfect; within walking distance to fantastic restaurants on Peradeniya Road, to the temple of the tooth, Kandy old town, the train station, the lake and the central market - Nalaka, who is the owner of the property gave us a bunch of suggestions on where to visit and also where to eat. Would definitely stay here again if I am ever back in Kandy!

Loved this small hotel that was located on a small alley off a chaotic main street so it was nice and quiet. The staff are all welcoming and helpful and you always get a smile. Our room was large, very clean and the rain shower with hot water was great. I had asked in advance if there was a fridge we could put a couple of drinks in and they brought a small beer fridge right to our room. Breakfast was very tasty, many different fruits, French toast, cookies, cakes and chocolate muffins. Also some Sri Lankan curry rolls and pasta. Breakfast started with a freshly made blender fruit drink. The hotel is walking distance to Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Buddha Tooth Relic) and the train station. There are many restaurants within walking distance as well. I highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Kandy.

Everything was great. If I could make one small suggestion it would be to add some eggs for breakfast, there were a lot of sweet things and some people don't like curry for breakfast. This is no way lessens my review of the hotel.

Lovely quiet location away from a busy road. Nice and close to town. The family who run this hotel are friendly and cannot do enough to help you. They give good advice about where to go and what to avoid. Nice and close to the station - in fact they gave us a ride to the station which was very much appreciated. The room was very comfortable , with a nice hot shower. The breakfast was fabulous. For dinner we walked up the road and went to Balaji Dosai where we each had a fabulous Masala Dosa and lime juice for $5 ( total). The bakery across the street was also a good place to pick up snacks for the train. We really enjoyed our stay here- would highly recommend.

The place is spotless, I liked the shower, the comfy bed and the fact that it's very quiet. I had a great night sleep, followed by an abundant and varied breakfast. The service was excellent, and the location is very convenient.

I chose the place mainly because of its proximity to the station. I had planned for an easy stroll to the station the next morning, but I found that, despite the close distance, it's not a straightforward walk, especially when lugging heavy bags. Anyone thinking it's just round the corner from the station should note this. But this of course is not their fault, and as far as I'm concerned, My City Hotel and the whole team deserve a full round 10. And I DID manage to walk with my luggage!

The hotel is located at the end of a little street perpendicular to a very busy road so it it quiet. Very big room, room and bathroom were clean, AC good. With mosquito nets, it would have been even better. From the hotel, you can easily walk to the lake and the tooth temple. We were given very good advice for the next leg of our trip and we're glad that we followed it. The tuktuk that was arranged for us to Adam's Peak was perfect and it made the day so much easier, enjoyable and comfortable. Thank you so much for your help

An AC unit was dripping outside of our room onto a hard surface, and it made a loud and metronomical noise that was quite annoying. We used ear plugs and it was okay. Maybe it was only this room in particular. Maybe it has been sorted out since then
