We loved the location of the hotel! Beautiful view of the lake and Temple of Tooth from the restaurant and lobby. Very close to the city center as well. The room was neat and tidy and clean, and the staff were wonderful. We want to give an extra shoutout to our tour guide Udara who took us on great adventures around the city and in the mountains. He really went out of his way so that we could have a great trip! Thank you!

The pool didn’t look very nice when we checked it out because it had a greenish and muddy vibe to it. We didn’t go in because of it. A little boring that they couldn’t serve alcohol in the restaurant as well. Apart from that, we liked everything very well!

Room with a view and big to accommodate all 4 of us. Nice friendly staff. Interesting location, some upscale restaurants nearby. We rented a car with the property for transfers and city travel. It was a good choice, highly recomended as the driver we had was very helpfull in assisting us for all the things we wanted to do, see, taste and so better understand the place and the people around us. I read comments here about lizards on the wall and monkey visits. For my children that was a part of the fun they had so we rather enjoyed all that not complain about 😃.

The room and view were amazing. I’d recommend booking a room with view and balcony, it’ll be worth every penny and is nice to escape the bustle of Kandy to sit and read a book/chill and look out over the lake. The breakfast was very nice. Our room was huge and absolutely spotless. The bed was really comfortable and all the amenities we needed were provided. The staff were one of the best things about this place. So friendly, hospitable, calming and couldn’t have done enough for us. The location is perfect, a short walk down the hill to Kandy lake and the town centre.

The pool is cold, but don’t let it put you off as it’s refreshing and has an amazing view. If you have mobility issues I would be cautious as you have to walk down a short but steep hill from the side road to get to it. The walk down to Kandy lake is also quite steep. I don’t think many taxis/tuk tuks come down the hill to the hotel but you could always ask as the hotel is so worth booking. This didn’t bother us though and we liked the exercise.

Breakfast was nice, buffet with good selection of options, although the eggs could be delivered faster. The deluxe family room that we had was nice, with beautiful wooden furniture, and the bathroom was also spacious and modern. A glimpse of lake from the balcony was also nice

Water temperature in the pool was just freezing, also the entrance to the pool was very inconvenient (easy to slip over). The second "deluxe" room that we had was actually not "deluxe" at all; the bed intended for two people was very small and the bathroom just tiny, resembling rather a train WC size than anything you'd expect in a decent hotel. Hence the lower rating overall - our group's experiences in the two deluxe rooms were quite different, despite similar prices paid.

Enjoyed the stay. Great base to explore Kandy and the surrounding areas. Kandy Mall is walking distance and so a plus. Value for money but could do with a bar and an upgrade in restaurant facilities - its a shame such a great view of Lake Kandy isn't matched by a better dining/drinking option.

Lunch/Dinner Menu a bit limited and also no alcohol served. It would have been nice to know this in advance but not a deal breaker as there are plenty of restaurants nearby and supermarkets/liqour store as well. The mini fridge in the room is spacious and so you can stock up as you please. PS Beware of monkeys as they have been known to enter rooms if you leave window/sliding door open

Their warm hospitality and attentive service truly made us feel at home. Another highlight of this property is its **prime location**—just a short distance from the **Temple of the Tooth Relic** and the heart of Kandy city. It was incredibly convenient to explore the area's attractions, with everything easily accessible. Overall, we highly recommend Lakewood Residence for anyone visiting Kandy. It’s a wonderful blend of comfort, convenience, and exceptional service, offering an experience that’s hard to forget.

Very warm welcome from the staff, and we had a nice welcome drink. The view of the lake from the reception was amazing and the hotel is in a great central location. The hotel also allowed us to check in a bit earlier and had great communication before we arrived. The room itself was super modern and clean.

It was a bit hard to find the hotel initially, as found the signs were not obvious and clear. The hotel is on a hill, so is a bit of a climb to get there. The Tuktuk arranged by the hotel to the station was a bit on the pricey side.

Excellent quiet position within a short, but steep, walk up from the lake, about 10 minutes walk from the Temple of the Tooth. The restaurant has an amazing view across the lake, as did our room but from lower down. The bed was firm and very comfortable and the bathroom well-equipped, with reasonable shower pressure and plenty of hot water. Staff were polite, friendly, helpful and spoke good English. Breakfast was plentiful and had a good choice of Sri Lankan and Western food.

Hotel charges 3% for paying by credit card and requests payment on check-in. Evening meal can be variable - but the view makes up for a lot.

The position was perfect and overlooked the lake. It was a short stroll to the lake, shops, restaurants and the Central Market. The meals in the restaurant were tasty. There was a good selection choice from the breakfast buffet serving both Sri Lankan and Western fare. The staff were very friendly and always helpful. The room was very well appointed and comfortable and had a large balcony overlooking the lake.

The only criticism was that the pool was surprisingly cold at the time we stayed.

My family and I stayed here for one night and wish we could have stayed longer. There were welcome drinks on arrival, the staff took our bags to the room and nothing seemed to much trouble. The staff couldn’t do more for us, always checking in to see if everything was okay, asking about our stay and our future travel plans giving us recommendations. The rooms were so clean and came with all the amenities. We stayed in the double bedrooms with balconies, I will say that one room was quite a bit larger than the other and believe they were the same price but both as equally lovely. AND THE BREAKFAST… wow! Such a wise variety of local and western cuisine which was always being topped up. The staff at breakfast were equally as lovely and very attentive. I can not complement our stay enough, I think this is the best hostel I have ever stayed in!
