We loved this hotel, the staff were exceptional and the welcome we received was very warm, we were upgraded to one of their Royal Pavilion rooms, which was a nice surprise and very much appreciated after a long flight. The room was spacious and the view from the balcony over the lake was incredible. The beds are ver comfortable and you get a duvet, rather than a sheet, which was great. You do have to be careful of the monkey's in the morning on the balcony, as that was a surprise with my morning cup of tea. The breakfast and dinner buffets were very good with lots of choice. The pool is lovely and clean and the view from the pool is wonderful. We want to give a special mention though to the gentleman that works on guest services in reception, we spoke to him on our first day and told him everything we wanted to do during our stay and he organised it all for us, from a Tuk Tuk tour of Kandy, a driver for the day to take us to The Elephant Freedom project (which we recommend doing) and a car to take us to the station on our last day for our onward journey. All in all, it was a fantastic stay and the staff are all incredible, it was a very nice welcome for the start of our tour of Sri Lanka. Thoroughly recommend a stay here!

Completely out of the hotels control there was a 10 day religious festival going on at the temple, so the hotel was not serving alcohol by the pool during the day. It would have been nice to be able to sit at the pool with a beer and the view, but we will have to return to experience that one, which we most certainly will do :-)

We stayed for 2 nights on our way to Ella. On arrival we were upgraded to the Royal Pavillion which was brilliant. We had really nice size rooms with a fantastic view over Kandy. It is situated just a few minutes walk from Kandy lake and the walk was a little steep, but very short and perfectly manageable, otherwise there are plenty of tuktuks. The breakfast was a buffet style and there was plenty of choice. We ate here in the evening and there was a choice of buffet or a la carte. The attendant at the pool was so polite and helpful, as were all the staff in the hotel. They arranged for tuktuks on our departure to the station, which was a short drive away. Nothing was too much trouble.

Hotel Thilanka provided an outstanding service during our stay there. They made sure to give us interconnected rooms and the GM Mr. Tim Paldano and his staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything to make our stay comfortable. When we had to host a family dinner, Tim made arrangements to have a beautiful setting in the garden to provide the right ambience for the dinner. The complementary fruit platters and snacks was much appreciated. We will definitely stay again at Thilanka and a big thank you to Tim Paldano and the entire staff for making our stay memorable.

The place is amazing and breathtaking, it’s on top of the hill looking to the Kandy lake, very close to the temple too. The room super big with a swimming pool view. The stuff very nice and welcoming. The only thing that we didn’t appreciate it was the dinner buffet, it could be better and with more options. Definitely we will come back

The pool was beautiful and the staff were so friendly and helpful with everything we needed. Our train tickets fell through and they organised a last minute transfer for us which was amazing. Our view from the balcony was also so beautiful and lovely to wake up to.

The property is showing the signs of age a little, could have done with a little paint. For the price we paid (over £250 per night) would have expected slightly better facilities (e.g. more modern bathroom as there was a minor leak in ours and the air con wasn't as strong as we'd liked). Generally an amazing stay just felt quite expensive.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THE ONSIGHT JEWELLERY SHOP. GUYS ARE VERY NICE AND WE HAD A LAUGH WITH THEM. BUT AFTER WE LEFT AND WENT DOWN SOUTH. WE FOUND OUT HOW MUCH THEY HAD RIPPED US OFF. SO IT LEFT A BITTER TASTE THEN ONE OF MY BRACELETS SNAPPED AND WHEN I EMAILED THEM AND SENT A PHOTO THEY WERE NOT EVEN PROFESSIONAL TO EMAIL ME WITH AN APOLOGY EXTREMELY RUDE I DONT HAVE A LOT OF MONEY. SO TO PAY £450 POUNDS FOR 3 THINGS THAT EOULD OF COST HALF THE PRICE IN JEWELLERY SHOPS DOWN THE SOUTH SADLY LEAVES A BITTER TASTE IN YOUR MOUTH HAD I RECIEVED AN EMAIL I WOULD OF GONE BACK TO THIS HOTEL AS WE LOVED IT SO MUCH

We really enjoyed the customer service. The staff were exceptional, especially Sameera, Nan Thiri Mon, Viraj and Lakmal. These are the names we know, but all staff were lovely. We did have a lovely room, one of the best in the hotel. Our best food in the hotel was the food prepared by the poolside bar.

The hotel does need to be freshened up. It is a little dated. The water pressure for taps and shower is low.

Stayed one night — it was a good experience and the location was nice. The food was nice and tasty. The pool was nice, and the view was amazing. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable.”

I suggest adding more seafood options to the dinner buffet. Please be mindful of the noise coming from the dishwashing area next to the dining space. I suggest a door to avoid disturbing guests while they are dining.

The hotel is super nice the room was very comfortable very well equipped. The food in the restaurant was also so good the pool was amazing and the view from the pool is outstanding. Amazing place in beautiful Kandy ♡
